A primeira coisa da qual nos apercebemos quando chegamos a Budapeste pela primeira vez, é que esta magnífica cidade tinha uma cor única, que tanto nos fez lembrar a nossa querida Lisboa, por se tratar de uma cidade com uma luz mística e rara, que muitos dizem ser amarela, mas que na verdade, e depois de bem analisada, percebemos que não, Budapeste é mais uma cidade dourada, uma cor só ao alcance de pouquíssimas cidades da Europa e do mundo, uma característica única que nós reconhecemos em três ou quatro cidades das muitas que visitamos.
Para além de Lisboa, Budapeste é sem dúvida uma dessas cidades, com uma luz e um desígnio ímpar na história e na cultura universal. Estar na capital da Hungria é como estar dentro de uma fotografia antiga, achada num velho baú de sótão, envelhecida por o tempo e dourada por a sua história.
Há uma aura de mistério nesta cidade, como naqueles filmes antigos de vampiros, bruxas e outras criaturas mitológicas, imaginárias de mundos distantes, de sonhos perdidos e de algo que não conseguimos explicar muito bem, por se tratar de uma fusão de magia com um pouquinho de real, mas que no entanto está lá e nos puxa com uma força inexplicável para dentro do seu âmago, do seu passado e das suas raízes com uma força irresistível, quase como que fazendo uma exigência à qual não conseguimos resistir, embriagando-nos com tudo o que tem de mais belo e com as suas histórias mais escuras e sombrias.
O que faz de Budapeste uma cidade especial para além da sua luz, é sem dúvida aquele que é um dos mais belos rios da Europa e sobre o qual já tanto se escreveu e disse, o Danúbio. Sem o rio a dividir a cidade em duas, Buda e Peste, esta não teria certamente o mesmo encanto nem a mesma beleza.
As inúmeras e gigantescas pontes que atravessam o rio Danúbio, completam a paisagem e dão à cidade Húngara um certo ar Londrino e um glamour Parisiense. A Ponte das Correntes foi projetada e desenhada em Inglaterra, e enviada em secções para aqui ser montada.
A sensação que sentimos ao percorrer as ruas de Budapeste é algo dificilmente descritível, não só pela complexidade de sentimentos com os quais somos evadidos, mas também pela atitude do seu povo, que parece extravasar muito para além da cidade, com uma atitude muito própria de quem é Húngaro mas consciente de que Budapeste também é uma cidade do mundo.
Foi por todos estes motivos, mas também por o bom povo que aqui habita, que ficamos eternamente apaixonados por Budapeste.

Iba a ir de vampíra a la fiesta de Halloween, tenía toda la ropa lista encima de la cama. No me decía con las joyas así que me las fui probando en el espejo. Debería acabar de vestirme, pensé. Pero el día había sido largo así que me preparé un café antes ponerme un kilo de pintura blanca encima. Se oía a los niños en la calle buscando sus golosinas de casa en casa. Salí al balcón y vi pasar un grupo de gente vestido de monstruos, me hizo gracia como la gente se asustaba al verlos. Y pensé que yo no tenía miedo, la noche no me daba miedo, ni la gente, ni los monstruos. No me daban miedo porque el monstruo era yo.

Apparently, the first time these two aircraft types have ever been displayed together. In the foreground, the red de Havilland DH.88 Comet, a 1934 racing aircraft that won the England to Australia air-race in that year. Behind, the DH100 Venom, the first single-engined jet aircraft to serve with the RAF - thousands were built, and they were widely exported.
Maybe surprisingly, both aircraft are substantially made of wood. The Comet is almost entirely wooden, apart from the engines, undercarriage etc, and the Venom's cockpit nacelle is also made of wood. (The wings, tail and jet engine mounting are made from metal.)
The de Havilland company was expert in fabricating strong and light aero-structures, including complex double curvatures, from wood - often balsa sandwiched between plywood. The DH.98 Mosquito is probably their best known product.
The Vampire design dates from 1943, just 11 years after the Comet. It could fly at well over 500mph and entered service a few months after the end of the war. Over 3,200 Vampires were built, and many survive in flying condition today. This one is beautifully presented by the Royal Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron.
The Comet, as a type, had a somewhat less successful career. Apart from winning the race, it was little use for much else, and only a handful were ever built. G-ACSS 'Grosvenor House' is owned and operated by The Shuttleworth Collection, based at Old Warden aerodrome in England, where the two aircraft are seen in the picture.

El Grupo de Cali - Vampirisme et tropical goth
L’exposition est consacrée à la culture visuelle autour d’El Grupo de Cali [Le Groupe de Cali], actif dans les années 1970 et 1980 en Colombie, aujourd’hui révéré comme un gang éminemment créatif proposant une vision alternative des tissus sociaux et urbains dans des contextes de marginalité. Composé à l’origine de l’écrivain Andrés Caicedo et des cinéastes Luis Ospina et Carlos Mayolo, le groupe a engendré une véritable contre-culture par son approche cinématographique, notamment avec le documentaire critique Agarrando Pueblo.
El Grupo de Cali s’est étendu à un plus large réseau, impliquant de jeunes artistes visuels formés à Cali dans cette même période, marquée par l’implantation des grands cartels de la drogue dans le pays. Leurs œuvres, réunies pour la première fois, offrent une vision singulière de cette constellation d’artistes, devenue l’une des forces motrices les plus remarquables du dernier quart du XXe siècle en Amérique latine. À travers la présentation de différents médiums se révèle un entrelacement de leurs processus, la photographie étant le pivot central qui sous-tend l’ensemble de leurs langages visuels.
Le mythe de Caliwood est alimenté par des références au vampirisme, au gothique et à la terreur, mises en scène dans un environnement violent et tropical. Le vampirisme est ici entendu comme mode d’interaction de groupe, dans lequel chaque personne est à la fois génératrice et aspiratrice d’énergie. Le Tropical Goth – approche quelque peu sombre, sceptique, cynique, voire monstrueuse sur la vie – émane des analyses de ces artistes sur les structures sociales et culturelles conflictuelles de Cali et de l’ensemble du pays.
Cette exposition établit un lien entre ce mouvement et de jeunes artistes colombiens dont le travail des premières décennies du XXIe siècle porte cette force de l’avant-garde de la fin du XXe siècle.

Edward Munch (1863 - 1944) painted six paintings between 1893 and 1895 and another six between 1916 and 1925 with this motif. The original title of the paintings was “Love and Pain”. The connection to vampirism was first made by his friend Stanisław Przybyszewski, who also coined the title “Vampire”.
