(Pakistani Wedding 2): The (Re)Extended Family Celebrating The Future & Honoring The Legacy Of A Family Tree Going To 1600 AD - IMRAN™

There were so many who could not be with us on this happy occasion. My brother had chosen to have a very simple and private event at home for his son Zeerak's wedding, with barely a couple of dozen very-immediate family invited.

Even our beloved aunts and uncles, and first cousins from both my siblings' maternal & paternal side, as well as from my brother's wife's side, had to be sadly missed. Only us siblings and spouses (no, I did not have four wives with me LOL), as well my sister-in-law's siblings and spouses were there in this Thanksgiving night wedding dinner extended family portrait.

It did include the recently added family members of Asaif whom my niece Iman married in May, and the mother of Ayesha the bride of my nephew Zeerak. They were the new additions to the recently re-extended family.

Most deeply missed were my beloved father, whom we lost on today's date 12/21 in 2008, and my beloved mother, lost too young in 1992, whose birth anniversary on Christmas Day 12/25 makes it a time of reflection, memories, and prayers. Also missing were both deceased paternal grandparents of my sister's daughter, as well as the late mother of my brother's wife.

What joy they would have experienced seeing these kids (whom some of them got to see born, and some who left too early to know their third generation) getting married and starting their new lives. May the souls of our ancestors recent and far in the past live on in heaven. May their prayers shower on these and coming generations of this incredible family. And may these and future generations do justice and bring honor to the legacy of our family tree going back to 1600 AD. Amen,
