Faith & religion is such a personal thing, meaning different things to different people & yet there is one common thread amongst all of them, that binds the diverse religions & sects. This common denominator is the "Divine Light" that guides the pious follower through grim darker phases to true enlightenment.

May the Divine Light always guide us to the betterment of all of us.

Jai Maa Vaishnodevi!

The 22478 Katra-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express, featuring a 20-car tangerine rake, runs an hour late as it passes through the farmlands of Badli in North Delhi.

Jammu and Kashmir Series १६: I went back to this spot, which is one of my favourites to photograph, after 8 long years. Quite glad that I left my zoom lens behind and only carried the 50mm. I probably would not have been able to capture this, otherwise.

I didn't have my canon with me when I went hiking in India, but I managed to capture the most beautiful image I've ever seen with my point and shoot! (no edit) I really wish I had my DSLR though!

The journey was humbling, as was my entire stay in India. I walked 14 miles up this mountain along with people who were disabled, little children, and the extremely elder. It was tiring for me, so its magical that they were able to complete the journey.

Vaishno Devi Yatra, J&K, India

A pilgrimage every person in India wishes to do once in life, this 11km trek to the shrine is one hell of a ride. Beautiful Landscapes, faithful visitors and excellent services all make this the place to be.

Maa Vaishnodevi temple, at an altitude of 4300 feet, situated in the Trikuta mountains is about 12 kms from Katra, in the Jammu & Kashmir sate of India. Every year more than 8 million pilgrims visit the Maata Raani temple, & makes it the second most visited religious shrine after the Tirumala Venkateswara temple. The white enclosure is the opening to the temple inside the cave, which contains three idols of Maha Saraswati, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Kali, which are all images of Vaishno Devi. Devotees offer Red & yellow Chunris (Sari fabrics) to Maa for blessings. A piece of this Chunri, which landed up high atop the mountain behind the holy shrine furled brightly as the sky tried to match the Chunri's vivacity with the setting sun hues.

ASHRAM FACTS

Maa Vaishno Devi is believed to grant all four boons to her devotees, namely, Dharma (Righteousness), Artha (Material Pursuits), Kaama (Contentment) and Moksha (Enlightenment). The Maa Vaishno Devi Ashram at Vrindavan hosts an array of statues, articles, and abodes which are awe-inspiring not only because of their architecture but also in their very existence at such a holy place.

Maa Vaishno's Murti

Maa Vaishno's Murti (Statue) is the star attraction of the Ashram. This statue is a colossal neoclassical sculpture on the Ashram land, which is situated at the world-renowned land of childhood homeland of Lord Shri Krishna.

The statue of Maa Vaishno has been built by Shri Chaudhry to thank the goddess for all the love, affection and care she has bestowed on her staunch devotee. The statue is an elegant rendition of goddess Vaishno Maa in a vibrant red colour Indian saree (sari) adorning graceful imitation trinkets and elegant weapons of the goddess, which signify her authority and protectionism. The statue of the goddess could not have been complete without her royal carrier, Lion. The statue is seated charmingly atop her ferocious carrier.

Total height of Maa Vaishnodevi Murti from the ground level of the temple (which is 3'-6" below the road level) is 141 feet. The height of the Lion of Maa Vaishnodevi is about 35'-6" from road level, from where height of Maa Vaishnodevi is about 102'-0". The various dimensions of Lion, Hanumanji and the objects carried by Maa Vaishnodevi is given below.

Height /Length of objects which Maa Vaishno Devi holds in eight hands:

Gadda (A Mace) - 37 feet long with globe being 8 feet in diameter

Shankh (Conch shell) - 8 feet 6 inches long and 4 feet 6 inches wide

Navratri 2022: The colour suggestion for each zodiac sign is determined by the nature of the sign as well as the transit of planets during Navratri. Check out the styling options available for each zodiac sign!

With the arrival of September, it's time to kick off the festive season by donning our bright Garba outfits and dancing our hearts out in celebration of Goddess Durga. Garba, a Gujarati folk dance popular during Navaratri (also known as Durga Puja), represents the feminine divine and the circle of life.

Garba is derived from the Sanskrit word "Garbha," which means "womb." Garba is a community dance in which participants spin and whirl in a circle around a clay lantern known as Garbha deep (womb light) or an image of Maa Durga. The center represents life, the divine feminine strength, and the ever-changing universe in which only God (represented as feminine) remains constant.

Happy Navratri, Happy Garba!
