The Enchanted City is a Spanish natural area of calcareous or limestone rock formations formed over thousands of years. It is located near Valdecabras, in the municipality of Cuenca (Spain), in a wide area of pine forests in the southern part of the Cuenca mountains and at an altitude of 1,500 meters.

It was declared a Natural Site of National Interest on June 11, 1929. The action of water, wind and ice has made this karstic phenomenon possible. The heterogeneity of the rocks in terms of their morphology, chemical composition and degree of hardness is what has allowed their uneven wear by atmospheric elements, resulting in a surprising sample of picturesque art from nature itself. To the whimsical and spectacular existing formations we must add lapiaces, torques and sinkholes.

It shares these characteristics especially with "Los Callejones", a place located in the municipality of Las Majadas. Both places are part of the Serranía de Cuenca Natural Park, created by the Law of the Autonomous Community of Castilla-La Mancha 5/2007.

The church in Duingt is relatively recent, dating from the very beginning of the 20th century. It replaced an earlier church that didn't even last a century. The original church was located at the far end of the old village cemetery, very small and difficult to access. The inventory taken in 1793 is pitiful, as every object is described as old and dilapidated. At that time, Duingt had no shortage of places of worship, and a chapel of St. Hélin is described in Dhéré, another in Châteauvieux, and the chapel of St. Madeleine in La Maladière.

In 1829, a project was conceived to build a larger church in the lower part of the village. A communal pasture was located on the edge of the marsh of the Entrevernes stream, near the lake. This project included the use of materials salvaged from the demolition of the buildings in Dhéré and the church of St. Germain: wood, iron, stones, and tiles. A foundation slab made of fir trunks will reinforce the foundations. On July 15, 1833, the work was officially accepted. Shortly afterward, cracks appeared; an ordinance of 1862 prohibited ringing the bells, which caused the cracked walls to shift. The town council closed the church, which was in danger of collapsing, in June 1899.

The demolition of the building began quickly; as soon as it was finished, the new, even larger building was begun on a much larger foundation slab. It would take two years before the faithful could attend services in a secure construction site; during this period, worship was held in a "dim and drafty shed" located right next door. The new church, still under construction, was opened for public worship on All Saints' Day 1901. It was inaugurated on October 9, 1903. As early as 1910, construction defects were observed: the nave vault was cracking because the bell tower was sinking into the ground and tending to lean westward. In 1950, scaffolding and wire mesh were installed in the chancel to prevent plaster from falling from the vault. A test pit dug near the bell tower in 1970 reached a depth of 18 meters without encountering bedrock, yielding only silt. Shortly after the inauguration, two Giant Sequoia (or Wellingtonia) trees were planted in the churchyard because their roots stabilize the ground and ensure drainage. The building is still under observation (studies from 1994) and was restored in 2002 by the municipality.

Reichenau is an inhabited island located in Lake Constance (Bodensee in German), federal state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany. The island lies between the Gnadensee and Untersee lakes and is connected to the mainland by a 400-meter bridge built in Napoleon's time. It is the largest island in this huge European lake and is located in Germany, but in its southern area off the Swiss coast, a hundred meters away. Facing its north coast is the town of Radolfzell, and less than ten kilometers away, the city of Constance.

It has a Benedictine monastery founded in 724 by Pirminius and secularized in 1799, which was the main artistic and literary focus of the region during the 9th-11th centuries. In the year 2000 the Reichenau monastery, as well as the rest of the churches on the island, were included in the World Heritage Site by Unesco.

The island appears documented from the times of the Romans. Important works of German literature, from the time of the Minnesang (love songs), have been found in this monastery. Some of them are still kept in his library and others in the Baden county museum.

After World War II, most of the population of Reichenau was evicted for two and a half months so that some 3,000 French prisoners released from the Dachau concentration camp under quarantine lived there before returning to their country of origin.

Route of the Three Ardonés Waterfalls

The Ardonés waterfall, also known as the Bom waterfall, is one of the most beautiful spots in the Cerler area. Its proximity, easy access, and beauty make this a must-see for anyone visiting this area.

From Cerler, we take the road toward Cerler Station. After approximately 4.5 kilometers, we reach the intersection of the road and the Ampriu ravine, which we cross over a small bridge. Continuing along the road for about 600 meters, we reach a sharp bend with a small esplanade on the left, from which a path or track leads off, which we take. We can leave the car at this point and continue on foot along the track for 1 kilometer (10-15 minutes), or we can continue by car to the end of the track, where we will park and continue on foot along a path that branches off to our right and, in about 600 meters (5-10 minutes), will take us to the foot of the waterfall.

At the foot of the waterfall, there is a small bridge. If the water level in the ravine is low, we can cross it and continue along the path that runs along the opposite side of the ravine and further on crosses the Clotet Ravine. From this point, we can return the way we came or continue along this path until we reach another trail that descends to the bottom of the Ardones Ravine. There is a small bridge that allows us to cross the ravine and continue along the path that ends at the end of the track we have been following, completing a short circular route of approximately 1.5 km in about 25 minutes. From here we will walk back along the track until we reach the road in about 15 minutes.

The Lagunas de Ruidera Natural Park is a protected natural area and one of the most important wetlands located in the Spanish autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. The park comprises a series of sixteen backwaters or river lagoons along the Guadiana Viejo valley, formed by the continuation of the Pinilla River along its southeastern tributary and the Alarconcillo Stream along its northeastern tributary. These lagoons are separated and connected by barriers of tufa or travertine formation. The difference in elevation between them causes the water to flow through streams, waterfalls, and rapids from one lagoon to another. Although man-made, the Peñarroya Reservoir is also included within the park due to its contribution to water resource management. From a hydrological and structural perspective, these river lagoons are classified as discharge wetlands.

The natural park is spread across the municipalities of Argamasilla de Alba, Ruidera, Alhambra (excluding the lagoons), Ossa de Montiel, and Villahermosa. Within the park's boundaries are also the Peñarroya Castle, the ruins of Rochafrida Castle, the Cave of Montesinos (where Don Quixote descends in the novel of the same name), and the King's House in the village of Ruidera.

Lac d'Annecy, Haute-Savoie, France.

The Lac d'Annecy is a lake in Haute-Savoie, in eastern France. It is famous for being one of the cleanest lakes in the world. It is also the second largest lake in France after Lake Bourget, except for the French part of Lake Geneva.

The lake was formed 18,000 years ago, during the melting of the great alpine glaciers.

It is fed by several small rivers, born in the nearby mountains (Ire, Eau morte, Laudon, Bornette and Biolon), and by a powerful underwater source, the Boubioz, which rises at a depth of 82 m. It is surrounded: to the east by the Bornes massif; to the west, by the massif of the Bauges; to the north, by the agglomeration of Annecy; and to the south, through a wide valley.

The lake expels its excess water into the Thiou river and the Vassé canal, which join and feed the Fier river, 1500 m north of Annecy, which eventually joins the Rhone river.

It is a very attractive tourist place, known for its nautical activities.

Mirador, Notre-Dame du Lac, Duingt, Haute-Savoie, Auvernia-Ródano-Alpes, France.

In December 1854, a cargo boat was wrecked off Duingt. The two boatmen desperately called for help, but to no avail. They prayed to the Virgin Mary, and their pleas were answered, for rescuers came from Talloires to save them. In gratitude, they placed a statue of the Blessed Virgin in a cave at Roche de Chère, located on the eastern shore of the lake opposite Duingt.

In 1875, this statue was stolen. To atone for this outrage, the young people of Duingt asked their parish priest to install a new statue in a natural cave at Taillefer, located above the village of Duingt. The Rosary Resorts were inaugurated on August 18, 1889. The statue of the Virgin Mary, unfortunately damaged, was replaced a few years ago with a statue depicting a younger Mary (Our Lady of the Annunciation). The Rosary Resorts have undergone meticulous restoration in recent years. The newly paved access road allows many people to travel more easily along the hillside leading to the Notre-Dame du Lac cave. Inside the cave, the exceptional panorama inspires prayer and meditation.

The Estós Valley (in Benasquese Aragonese, Vall d'Estós or Ball d'Estós) is a Pyrenean valley located in the Aragonese region of La Ribagorza.

It lies in the northwestern part of the Benasque Valley (northeast of the province of Huesca) and within the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park. To the north of this valley, which is of glacial origin, is the Perdiguero massif (3,221 m), and to the south, the Posets massif (3,375 m). This valley, oriented from west to east, is approximately 12 km long, and the Estós River, a tributary of the Ésera River, flows through its bottom. Clarabides, Gías, and Oô are peaks that also exceed 3,000 m and form the border with France. The valley's altitude ranges from 1,400 m to 3,375 m.

Since 1994, it has been part of the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park due to its significant ecological value. The predominant landscape is that of the high Pyrenees, with a good representation of the alpine, subalpine, and montane climate zones. The predominant flora consists of mountain pastures and forests, including conifers (black pine and fir), deciduous trees (beech, aspen, birch, willow, maple, and hazel), and, as main shrubs, boxwood, juniper, and rhododendron. Several Pyrenean endemic species are also found. As for the fauna, all the animals present in the high Pyrenean mountain ecosystems are found here, with a significant population of Pyrenean chamois and roe deer, and the most representative birds being the capercaillie, the ptarmigan, and the bearded vulture.

The Estós River, fed by numerous ravines and streams originating from the many glacial lakes (ibones), the permanent snowfields, and some of the southernmost glaciers in Europe, flows through the valley floor.

The valley is a popular tourist destination for mountain hikers, climbers, ski mountaineers, and alpinists. Trout fishing and big game hunting (chamois, roe deer, and wild boar) are also popular. In the summer, its slopes serve as grazing land for a large herd of cattle.

Access to the valley is primarily on foot via a network of well-marked trails, although there is a forest track restricted to authorized vehicles. Along the way, you'll find numerous shepherd's huts and a staffed mountain refuge (1,895 m) managed by a warden from the Aragonese Mountain Federation.

This hiking route visits one of the most beautiful spots in the Benasque Valley: Aigualluts. The route can be done without much effort in four hours, but it is worth taking the time to observe the landscape in detail. It starts and ends in the same place, the car park located in La Besurta.

The path initially runs southwards, along a very obvious path, until reaching the La Renclusa refuge in 50 minutes. We go around it (there is a signpost) to continue southwards towards the La Renclusa pass. The path turns eastwards until reaching the pass, the highest point we will reach today, which we reach in just under an hour and a half from the start.

We continue along the path in an easterly direction, now descending, to the Plan de Aigualluts (two hours and twenty minutes).

Here we turn right to go around the plain on a path equipped with some levers (small bridges) that cross the numerous ravines and streams that reach this plain.

After going around it, we can see on the left the Forao de Aigualluts, a chasm through which the water that comes down from the Aneto glacier seeps to flow into L'Artiga de Lin, in the neighbouring valley of Viella, and therefore flows into the Garonne and not the Ésera.

At the end of the plain that we find below, we can continue straight ahead to return to La Besurta along the old path or ascend a little to the left to find the path that goes up to La Renclusa.

Almagro is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Ciudad Real, in the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha. In 1972 its historic centre was declared a historic-artistic site. It has a population of 8,983 inhabitants (INE 2017).

It has been listed as One of the Most Beautiful Towns in Spain since 2015 and has since belonged to the eponymous association.

Its natural environment is nestled between small Paleozoic mountain ranges with some low-flow water resources: Pellejero and Cuetos streams. Of greatest interest is the presence of a volcanic area (cerro de la Yezosa), on the existing quartzite massifs, which makes the area unique, along with Olot and Cabo de Gata, as the only territories of volcanic origin of any importance within the Iberian Peninsula.

The town is known throughout the peninsula for its commitment to the performing arts since the rediscovery and recovery in 1954 of what is today the best-preserved corral de comedias in all of Spain (a National Monument since 1955).

Taking advantage of its unbeatable location, since 1978 the International Classical Theatre Festival dedicated to the Baroque and especially the Golden Age has been held in the city every summer during the month of July.

Other festivals that take place in the city are the Almagro Ibero-American Contemporary Theatre Festival (FITCA), which reached its 15th edition in 2015 and more recently the Almagro University Creation Festival (CUAL), which began its steps in 2014.

The Sacred Convent and Castle of Calatrava la Nueva is located in the Spanish municipality of Aldea del Rey, in the province of Ciudad Real. It is located on top of a hill, opposite the castle of Salvatierra.

Documents have been preserved detailing the entire building and the layout of its rooms. It is actually a complex complex composed of a church, convent, inn, village, and outer enclosure, all heavily fortified. From the plain, one ascends to the fortress, skirting its outer walls, and reaches an esplanade where the 15th-century outer gate opens, allowing entry into the outer enclosure or liza, which is bordered by two almost parallel walls. This enclosure was used to store livestock, house troops in transit, and as a refuge for peasants in case of danger.

From the liza, the convent area is accessed through a huge, semi-subterranean chamber located next to the wall. This chamber housed the guardhouse and stables. The inn once stood on it, the upper floors of which have disappeared. Leaving the stables, one enters an intermediate defensive space, which was a place of passage. To the right is the convent, of which only the floors and part of the walls remain.

The path continues toward the castle, whose high walls rise before the viewer. To the left, several semi-subterranean rooms can be visited. These are former warehouses on which the guard's house now stands, which in turn occupies part of the former inn. Continuing along the path, to the right, one can see enormous sheer rocks that form the base of the castle walls, and to the left, an esplanade now furnished with tables for visitors. From here, one can overlook the town's enclosure, which preserves its entire walls, and whose parapet walkway can be walked along. There were streets and houses in this town, and it was where the servants of the castle and the convent lived. It is located on a large rectangular protrusion of the wall and has its own turrets and a so-called secret gate.

Although there is evidence of population in the surroundings of the city since the Upper Paleolithic, it was not until the Muslim conquest when the fortress of Qūnka was built, which gave rise to the current city. This was originally among the many others from the Santaver (Ercávica) cora, but gradually gained importance. The Christian king Alfonso VIII conquered it in 1177 and granted it the Fuero de Cuenca, one of the most prestigious in the history of Castile. focused on the textile industry, of great renown during the 15th and 16th centuries, which produced a great construction activity. However, the drapery collapsed in the 17th century, leading to a drastic loss of population, which gradually recovered over the following century. In 1833 it became the capital of the new province of Cuenca, although the upheavals of the period kept the city in a precarious state until well into the 20th century. Today, the economy is mainly focused on tourism, strengthened since its old town was declared a World Heritage Site in 1996.

Cuenca preserves an important historical and architectural heritage throughout the old city, where buildings such as the cathedral or the Hanging Houses stand out, which have become the icon of the city. It is also characterized by having a good number of museums (more than ten) in the reduced space of the old town. The Museum of Spanish Abstract Art, the Science Museum of Castilla-La Mancha, the Paleontological Museum of Castilla-La Mancha and the Museum of Cuenca stand out. Among the main cultural events are Holy Week and Music Week Religious.
