From the '70s this novel explores a utopia based on the proper maintenance of dreams. A man running away from his life mysteriously stumbles onto this utopia after a car crash; he wakes up inside a cave surrounded by people who heal him with herbal remedies. He recuperates and records the culture of this unique society. How they sleep in community in groups of twelve. How they raise children as a group and can only eat if they are fed by others. How simple their language is. How they don't talk in much detail but save their loftier concepts for the stories told about how life began and how the community came to be. How they spend their time growing food.

But the most important aspect of the society is how it is guided by everyone's dreams. Each morning everyone tells their dreams to someone else in their sleeping circle and they are encouraged by the community to make changes to appease their dreams. Women have equality in this community too and have the ability to avoid getting pregnant as they gain experience. Nobody gets married except in rare cases. There are no taboos involving sex except when it is non-consenting. Emotional problems are healed by spending some time in the womblike igloos.

An interesting summation of ideas that were considered alternative at the time. Recommended by my tarot teacher as an example of a society that doesn't encourage marriage.

Utopia by Tom Børslid

The superyacht "Utopia" is built by the Dutch Feadship, and has a special history.

According to the website SuperYachtFan, it was commissioned by the Seattle-based U.S. dollar billionaire Keith McCaw in 2001, who died the following year, before the yacht was finished. The family canceled the order, but the shipyard completed, however the construction of the yacht.

In 2006 it was bought by American businessman Bill Miller. Last year, however, the yacht sold. It is not known what the final selling price was, but these prices are said to have been a little over 50 million euro.

It is not necessarily the boat owner who is traveling to Bergen this week, due to it's possible to rent the yacht for approximately 470 000 euro per week.

According to the website Superyacht Times, the boat is registered in the Cayman Islands. The yacht is 71.6 meters long and has a maximum speed of 16 knots. It should be sleeping room for twelve passengers and a crew of 18 people. The yacht has a helicopter deck, but is still "very much a family boat," according to the website.
