This is one of a group of painted bison forms that were scattered around Custer, South Dakota in May of 2006. We have seen other art projects of this type around the country....some with bears, sea lions, fish and other creatures.

Located on the Ashley River, about 10 miles away from downtown Charleston, is the oldest preserved plantation in the area. I say preserved because the original house was burned during the Civil War by either former slaves or the Union Army. Built in 1676 after the Drayton family migrated from Barbados to South Carolina in order to expand their business/wealth, Magnolia Plantation houses close to 500 acres of property that features the oldest public garden in the United States, a Zoo and Nature Center, a pre-Revolutionary rice barge, antebellum slave cabins, a Native American ceremonial ground, a conservatory, a maze, and the Audubon Swamp Garden, which was named after John James Audubon when he visited in 1851. There are guided tours, a nature train, and a nature boat to explore the grounds. The privately run plantation is also home to the Magnolia Plantation Foundation which supports animal welfare, conservation, education, and historic preservation groups.

Schooleys Mountain General Store in Schooleys Mountain is picture-perfect. With its tin ceiling and potbelly stove, this old-fashioned outpost in Morris County seems unchanged since 1830, when it first opened. Now, as then, you can stop by for groceries like milk and eggs or to mail a letter because the local post office is inside.

Theodosia Ford occupied two of the four upstairs bedrooms and reserved the kitchen for her own personal use. Her daughter, Elizabeth Ford, who was 12 when Washington stayed at the mansion, stayed in her mother’s room. During the winter months of 1779 to 1780 she read and learned a total of 25 stitches. Theodosia’s boys stayed in another room downstairs. This room featured two doors. One door lead to the servants’ side of the house above the pantry and the other door lead to the center hall.
Middle Cathedral Rock rivals El Cap in an odd sort of way. It isn’t as high or as monolithic or as majestic, but it certainly has more “character” than its cross-Valley neighbor. If El Cap is gray and forbidding, much of Middle Cathedral is colorful and inviting. If El Cap defines Big Wall Climbing, then Middle Cathedral stands for Medium Wall Climbing. What can be more intriguing than Yosemite’s neglected orphan?
The Middle Cathedral Rock is a prominent rock face on the south side of Yosemite Valley, California. El Capitan lies due north of Middle Cathedral.

Bệ do kiến trúc sư Mỹ Richard Morris Hunt thiết kế cao 47 m, tượng Nữ Thần cao 46 m, chỏm ngọn đuốc cao hơn mặt đất tới 93 m.
