"And you have not seen it?' he said abruptly, after having stared about him for some moments in silence—you have not then seen it?—but, stay! you shall.' Thus speaking, and having carefully shaded his lamp, he hurried to one of the casements, and threw it freely open to the storm. " Roderick Usher
when looking at this old house, the novel from Edgar Allan Poe "The fall of the House of Usher" came to mind. A little spooky place - and perfect clouds too!
I have been wanting to shoot these stairs for a while and finally managed to get access.
Sadly I only had half an hour so couldn't experiment with lots of different angles / compositions.
The contrasts were pretty extreme so had to shoot bracketed. It took me a while to work out that I could use my tripod even when leaning over the stairs by putting it at an angle and holding my body against it to keep it still.

I love to see the first rhododendron blooms, as it is a sign of so much more to come - especially sunshine after a long winter!
A playful image with shallow depth as I walked around the neighborhood using the 50mm f1.8 lens, with a 10mm extension tube attached. AF is a little slow and funky with the tube but it does work, and the fast lens is fun for some soft bokeh. And of course you can't focus at infinity with the tube, and something always comes along leaving you limited that way.
Thank you very much for your warm and kind visits my friends. Wishing everyone a lovely spring and summer! 💙

What I think is actually a cockatoo, floats over Cornelian Bay on the coattails of a weak cold front. Before dawn, Hobart, Tasmania.
Cockatoos are not native to Tasmania and the noisy buggers are growing in number. The flock, of which this bird is a member, roost above the cemetery that is among the trees at left.
No rest for the wicked...

Groups of people heading across the plaza and into the Usher Hall last night, going to a festive concert. A few quick snaps using the tiny (30cm) Gorilla mini-tripod (hence the low perspective!), just to see how it worked.
A 'down' shot from the staircase in Usher Hall.
Usher Hall in Edinburgh is one of Scotland's main venues for the performing arts. The chandelier is located in the newly constructed spiral staircase, which links the original Usher Hall building with its new extension. The 13.8m chandelier uses lengths of fluorescent tubes to create a linear glow of light, and rings of frosted glass, lit with LEDs, to lend a more delicate appearance to the solid piece. Due to the overall height of the stair, the suspended structure had to be built in six sections to accommodate lamp lengths, cable routing and access for cleaning and maintenance.
