Happy October Polaroid Week!

Day 4

Sometimes accidentally setting the wrong film speed is not a total failure. ;-)

When I first started using this camera I had a lot of trouble getting the hang on the winding on mechanism. This is a weird cross over triptych that I ended up with. Thankfully all three shots were taken at the same location so they all go together.

SORRY ABOUT THE QUALITY , CAMERA / USER NOT CHECKING THE SETTINGS , DOH !

LOVE THE PICTURE THOUGH , TASHA ABOUT TO SWAT A PLASTIC LIZARD / DINOSAUR

This is one of the best error messages I've ever seen!

It's not my fault! I'm good with technology!

I've got some computer terms for you...

Story of a jammed PX 680 shot-- I double exposed it trying to get it to come out on its own, but it needed more help than that. What finally came out was way overexposed so I manipulated the emulsion around where I could see the magnolia blossoms starting to come out. I like how there appear to be three blue-green hills at the bottom.

Daya asked me the other day: "Nick, my bike doesn't ride right, can you take a look at it."

Sure enough, it had a problem.

The fucking fork is backwards. I don't know how she managed that, but when I put it together, I distinctly remember wiring the brakes on the front of that fork.

The biggest gift film photography has given me so far is the growing ability to learn from, and have fun with, my mistakes, in lieu of obsessing and stressing over them.

Things like this happen more often than they should. It's a wonder I come home with photos that don't feature an unintentional body-part. And these examples are just from my latest photo-ramble - you get the idea. :)

This is the funny user error I was trying to explain

this is what happens when I take several pictures of Kevin against the same backdrop, then tell Windows Live Photo Gallery to make a panorama out of them

yes, it's user error. the user is a dumb-a%*. i took the strip out of the meter while it was checking my blood. i was on the plane, waiting for dinner to be served.

I had the camera on aparature priority, open as far as the lens goes... stupid me had the camera at ISO 100. So the camera picked 1/60 of a second to get a good exposure. This could have been awesome if i'd had a faster shutter speed.

Saturday my children were in a performance and I took pictures in low light. Apparently I left the ISO set high. I took nearly all my flower pix - and these might-have-been-awesome bee pix - with the ISO way too high. By the time I realized my mistake the bee was gone and my baby was wanting me. Rats.

Brook has inspired me to try the Bitman/NYT no knead bread recipie. Not bad, could have used a pinch more salt, and the picture would have been a lot better had I noticed that I was in Shutter priority instead of Program mode. Hence, B&W.

This is the stuff that happens when you can't operate a camera
