RUMORS MAGAZINE 1

Do you want a magazine that is full of useful information and is on the leading edge of discovering new fashion?

Well sweetie, I am so sorry to disappoint but that is NOT US. :)

We are here to spread RUMORS. We have recruited tons of reporters and paparazzi to stalk the fabulous elite as well as search the entire grid for all the juiciest and most sensational gossips out there. Ohhh Child, they did not disappoint. We have found lots of trashy drama that even your mama would blush. Do check us out and keep those tongues wagging.

Remember, Don’t Do It if you don’t want anybody to find out. We are always watching.

one of the views from Rachel's Knoll, Sedona, arizona

After Rachel's death in 2001, the property that the Knoll sits on was sold to Seven Canyons, but with provisions to allow visitors to the site on an ongoing basis. Originally the buyers did not follow through on these provisions, but because of diligent work by Rachel's children and their lawyer, the courts have now declared that Seven Canyons must comply

Imagine the pristine beauty due west of Sedona with nothing but magnificent red rock formations in all directions. For many years, residents of Sedona were allowed to use a very special place in this extraordinary area. It was found on private property in the Long Canyon area and was owned by a woman named Rachel. She purchased this beautiful land, piece by piece, in the early 1970s and then made it available to the residents of Sedona, and all people from around the world.

Her property was perched high above the Long Canyon valley on a knoll which was later to be known as Rachel’s Knoll. To access her property one had to walk about half a mile meandering up a dirt road allowing ample time to experience and honor the drama and magical beauty of the land. Once on the knoll, one would find medicine wheels, seating areas, trails to guide you around to the meditative areas plus one of the most extraordinary red rock views in Sedona.

This land was most sacred to the Native Americans in the area and was used by them for centuries for their ceremonies and inspiration. Rachel knew when she entered this sacred place that it would be her goal to save it for all people so they might enjoy and honor the Native Americans who once lived there.

Beaver Pond, along the Vloman Kill, at the end of winter in the town of Bethlehem, located in upstate New York. Image taken with a Hasselblad Stellar (a pocket point-and-shoot camera, not a full-fledged Hasselblad) -- essentially a Sony RX100 with a fancy (but helpful) grip and Hasselblad branding. Very useful as a lightweight camera.

Detail from a map of the south polar regions published by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge (SDUK) in 1830. It has only a few bits marked of what later was discovered to be the Antarctic coastline; instead, the polar region is labelled 'Antarctic Ocean'.

Featuring some new unique, beautiful, and very useful items from Cinoe, Hive, and Vespertine.

From Cinoe the Teruteru-bozu doll. Includes a decor version and puppet version. A teru teru bōzu is a small traditional handmade doll made of white paper or cloth that Japanese farmers began hanging outside of their window by a string in hopes for good weather the following day and no rain! In shape and construction they are essentially identical to ghost dolls, such as those made at Halloween.

Achieving the first draft of the human genome took more than a decade. Currently, your genome can be read in just one day.

What is it useful for us? Well, among other things, it allows us to study which genes develop cancer or rare diseases and look for specific therapies. Assess how a therapy will go, that is, individualize the treatments. Also non-invasive prenatal studies. Like everything, it will have other less ethical applications, but that is the struggle of human beings in the face of advances: Achieving a balance with nature with them.

I can't imagine any kitchen without this. Simple and very useful.

The Upper Chapel of Sainte-Chapelle is a gem of High Gothic architecture. While tourists stood in line for Notre Dame, I went to this impressive church and had no waiting line. The Samyang 14 mm lens with me turned out to be really useful.

A great picnic lunch spot...

...And at one of our favorite mountain view stops! We visited here on the way down, and in the evening on the way back up the mountain!

The best of our 382 captures are in a mini-themed album:

• Outing to Paris Mountain State Park, SC – 2021APR12

◦ Caesar's Head Spring, SC – 2021APR12 – Geer Hwy | US 276

Hope you enjoy 34% of 44 captures we took, going and coming!

For 'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Damage'

This was the second shot I took for this week's theme!

The first was handheld using a camera I hadn't used before and with an autofocusing lens - I got the focus wrong and the exposure wasn't too good either. In all honesty I was hoping to avoid getting out my desk-top tripod and setting it up, after clearing a space for it.

So this is a second attempt now with the camera on the tripod and some better attempt at both focus and exposure.

Looking at the picture, the shadow seems a bit fuzzy, its textured really because the paper clip was on a piece of rather rough drawing paper.

My first build of the year is a little diorama featuring a very cute sea outpost combined with a very useful...um...outhouse.

Both the building has the same color scheme, medium azure for the walls, tan for little details and medium nougat for the roof. It's the first time I've used lavender plant leaves and I'm very happy with this color.

The little outpost is built half on rock and the other half on stilts. I added a handful of little details to let it fun and lively.

The white boat is inspired by that of Anthony Wilson.

Hope you like it!

Etta with a good chew

As the name suggests, the shaggy parasol has a shaggier cap than the parasol (Macrolepiota procera). The stipe (stem) is plain in the shaggy parasol, not patterned like Macrolepiota. Unlike Macrolepiota, it is not safe to eat -- some consumers suffer stomach upsets. The display on my new D5600 flips open and twists upwards, enabling pictures to be taken from a very low angle, a useful feature in this case.
