This is a photo from last year Super Full Moon event which I "forgot" to upload. I just found it in my archive and I wanted to share it with you.
The location is Rome, and this plane is going to land at the Ciampino Airport, flying over the Castelli Romani (volcanic origins).

The Jacob Marley is a passenger vessel operated by Jetstream (Tours ?), the last company to be contracted to provide the Gravesend to Tilbury ferry service. The ferry was usually a smaller vessel (Thames Swift and latterly Thames Kestrel) with Jacob Marley used when the the usual ferry vessel was being maintained, for example.
The ferry service operated 6 days a week (not Sundays) between 5.40am and 7.15pm and until the end of March 2024, when funding ran out. Not Jetstream's fault !
Last entry for Jacob Marley on Marine Traffic is for a year and a day ago, when it was at Queenborough. It was built in 1985 in Guernsey and is 15 metres by 6, so fairly small compared to other vessels using the river.

The best time I had on my trip to Maine was taking a sunset cruise from Bar Harbor through the Mt. Desert Narrows. There were so many beautiful vistas! I practically filled my memory card.

This is another shot I took while traveling back from Toronto recently. I took a different route home, which took me through a variety of small country towns. The view at ths particularl location was stunning. The road lead down into the heart of the town of Cormac, where a beautiful church sat amongst the rich foliage of autumn. I love the way the road leads the eye deep into the scene. Enjoy some autumn goodness...there's not much left over here now (first dusting of snow last night).

This view reminded me of A E Housman's poem
"Into my heart an air that kills
From yon far country blows:

This was the first clear night on a weekend without a big moon being up all night long for quite a while.
This is the first time I've shot the Milkyway with my Canon 6D and new Tamron 15-30mm lens.
I gotta say... I'm pretty impressed with both for this type of photography (as well as the 6D for the macros too).
Still not sure about the processing side of it though :P
The rule of 500 says about 30 seconds for this lens, but I think I'll try a bit less next time as there is a bit of startrailing still.

Here's one from a project where I was trying to nail the combination of a water droplet crown along with getting a nice bokeh shot at the same time. It took a lot of trial and error along with some patience, but I think the finished shot here is pretty cool. Sometimes patience does pay off! I've found the Tamron 45 VC to be an extremely versatile lens. It is getting a lot of use, from events to landscapes to video work. I'm definitely a fan!

Nikon D810 Photos Pro Women's Surfing Sports Photography Tamron SP 150-600mm F/5-6.3 Di VC USD !
I shot in DX mode which crops away the extra pixels and takes me 1.5X closer while allowing for up to 7 FPS with the Nikon D810's Nikon MB-D12 Battery Grip using the 8 AA battery option! 8 Duracells took me through around 3,000 shots no problem--maybe more! I was shooting at the equivalent of 900mm with the 1.5x crop factor! Pretty close! Had I gone with the Nikon D4s, I would have gotten 12 fps, but no DX crop factor, as the sensor has only around 24mp, compared to the d810's 36 megapixels! Sure the larger pixel size on the Nikon D4s full frame sensor comes in handy indoors or at night, but in the bright sun, there's more than enough light for the smaller pixels in crop mode! Sure we lose some pixels from the outer edges when shooting in DX crop mode, but most of those pixels would be cropped away in Lightroom anyway. And the smaller files make the memory cards last longer, while also upping the FPS to 7 shots per second! Not quite 12 FPS, but still awesome and enough I felt!
What a beautiful way to test the Nikon D810 and Tamron 150-600mm zoom lens for sports photography!

for my birthday we took a photography trip to central Nevada to Goldfield for Goldfield Days, and photographed the parade and Tonopah. We did a lot of night photography also. It was a fun weekend. It was very hazy from all of the fires in California, but cleared up long enough to do some Milky Way Photography. Blue and Green dragonfly at Alkali hot springs.
