Germania, Berlino, Memoriale dell’Olocausto, Primavera 2015
The Holocaust Memorial is a memorial in Berlin to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust. It is located one block south of the Brandenburg Gate. It consists of a 19,000 m2 site covered with 2,711 concrete slabs or "stelae", arranged in a grid pattern on a sloping field. The stelae are 2.38 m long, 0.95 m wide and vary in height from 0.2 to 4.8 m. It was inaugurated on May 10, 2005, sixty years after the end of World War II. The stelae are designed to produce an uneasy, confusing atmosphere. However, observers have noted the memorial's resemblance to a cemetery.

This has been a difficult winter season, and this was my first time out since Thanksgiving, 2025.
It was a bit of an impromptu outing. The weather was quite warm, but the sea breeze made it pleasantly chilly. While conditions weren't ideal, they allowed for some nice shots, and better memories.
This image was shot hand held without a tripod and no filters were used.

These little ones were captured a week ago also, but the TransMontana of MMV ( flic.kr/p/2pDz1CE ) deserved to be released earlier. I watched these little flowers every morning while going to work, and hoped they will survive the week without wounds. On the end of the week they looked well enough for some bokeh pictures.

Hopefully my new Macro lens will enable me to share details of the tiny creatures in my garden... in the meantime here is another robin, keen to show off how ideal the lens is for portraits. There are now 6 (3 pairs) to be seen from dawn to dusk so I can't even tell if it is male or female...

I think the little 'thready bit' is maybe after Bees have been on them- I really don't know but quite a few Daisy's had this on..
Taken at f/3.5 quite deliberately. I know many photographers prefer to photo stack for front to back sharpness and have done so myself in the past but my preferred way is not to have everything in sharp focus- possibly because I use vintage lenses so much...

Part of what is so intriguing about photography is the unique way that different exposures can fundamentally change scenes. This, for example, was the purposeful underexposure of a scene for a series of bracketed shots. But the heightened drama by imperfections in the lighting (dark, moody shadows, heavy vignette) made the image particularly stunning to me.
