Du siehst mich“, steht auf der Ummantelung des neuen Glockenturms der Neuen Gedächtniskirche.
Das Bild erzählt vier Epochen Deutscher Geschichte und Architektur.
1. Die Kaiser-Wilhelm Gedächtnis-Kirche mit ihrem 113 Meter hohen Glockenturm symbolisiert die Kaiserzeit, sie endete nach dem 1.Weltkrieges. In Folge der Novemberrevolution 1918/1919 entstand in Deutschland erstmals ein demokratisches Gemeinwesen, die Weimarer Republik.
2 . Als Symbol für die nationalsoziallistische Zeit, steht die Turmruine der Alten-Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche , sie blieb als Mahnmal gegen den Krieg erhalten Das Kirchenschiff wurde 1943 bei einem Bombenangriff schwer beschädigt, es wurde abgerissen als die Neue- Gedächtniss- Kirche gebaut wurde. In der Turmruine befindet sich seit 1987 eine Gedenkhalle.
3. Die neue Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche wurde in der Zeit von 1959-1963 nach den Plänen des Architekten Egon Eiermann im Stil der „Moderne“ erbaut. Es besteht aus dem Kirchenschiff mit seinen blauen Glasmosaiken, dem Kirchturm“ Du siehst mich“, der Kapelle und dem Foyer. Es symbolisiert die Teilung Berlins in die vier Sektoren der Siegermächte und steht seit 1961 für die Mauer die mitten durch Berlin verlief.
4. Das Symbol steht für die Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands und Berlins, es sind die neuen Hochhäuser, links das „Upper West“ und rechts das „Waldorf-Astoria“.

ENG: The Breitscheidplatz is located in Berlin's Charlottenburg district between Kurfürstendamm, Budapester Straße and Tauentzienstraße. It is a central square in the City West. Not least due to the war ruins of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, which have been preserved as a memorial, it is one of Berlin's most famous squares.
But unfortunately also to the most famous place since 2016, because on December 19, 2016 a truck raced on the grounds of the Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz and thus committed an attack. But the enchanting glow of lights comforts. Therefore a few nice impressions.

Nicht zuletzt durch die als Mahnmal erhaltene Kriegsruine der Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche gehört er zu den bekanntesten Plätzen Berlins.
Aber leider auch zu den bekanntesten Platz seit 2016. Denn am 19. Dezember 2016 raste ein Lastwagen auf das Gelände des Weihnachtsmarktes am Breitscheidplatz und verübte so einen Anschlag. Aber der bezaubernde Lichterglanz tröstet. Deshalb ein paar schöne Impressionen.

The blue hour changes a lot in a place's colours and atmosphere. The often-photographed (by me, too) Motel One/Upper West and Waldorf Astoria highrises in Berlin's City West are no exception, just like the rather posh-looking, supersized gas street lamp in front of the Upper West (16 meters tall, weighing 4 tons), the sculpture "Lesser" by German artist Olaf Nicolai (*1962, Halle/Saale). The high-gloss polished metal surface of the street lamp, which is a detailed replica of a historic Berlin "Schinkel lantern" (scale: 4:1), is of a bright chrome tone but the light from the other street lamps, the windows, and also the brightly illuminated Zoo Palast cinema across the street turned its surface into gold.
The colours and lights are a little festive, so I thought this was a nice image for the second (Sliders) Sunday in Advent. My original idea for a title was "Whisk" because the street lamp/sculpture and the fluffy, "creamy" clouds reminded me of a giant electric whipper/whisk.

The hotels Waldorf Astoria (on the left) and Upper West (a Motel One hotel) in Berlin's Charlottenburg district. At a height of 118,8 meters (389,76 feet) each, both buildings are among the highest in Berlin. Not exactly skyscraper dimensions but not to be scoffed at either ;) Both buildings are fairly new, the Waldorf Astoria opened in 2013, and the Upper West in 2017. Side by side in the City West are the luxurious Waldorf Astoria and the way more affordable Motel One. The Waldorf Astoria's building is officially called Zoofenster ("zoo window") because Berlin's Zoological Garden lies right across it.
Photography-wise, the Upper West with its futuristic look and the elegant curves is the more interesting subject, but this view up with both buildings in the frame, taken from the center strip of Kantstrasse, also looked interesting, especially with the cotton candy sky :)
P.S. This was taken with the Laowa C-Dreamer 7.5 mm F/2, not the (equally fantastic) C-Dreamer 6mm (which belongs to my Mom, magrit k.. I forgot to change my camera's lens info settings back to the 7.5 mm lens.

Photographer under observance and more "looking up" at the Upper West in Berlin's City West.
At a height of 119 meters (390 feet), the Upper West is the fourth-highest building in Berlin. The most prominent tenant is the hotel chain Motel One which occupies 19 of altogether 33 floors and offers 582 rooms. The Upper West's tower consists of two parallel structures, each of the same height but not symmetrical. The white, slightly shiny façade (which can be seen in the reflections) is interspersed with windows throughout.
