Gaia and I went to the Oregon Coast again on September 1st. Since we live closer now, we plan to spend more time there.
This is the view from Cape Foulweather. It’s one of those interesting place names that pepper the American West. Some of my other favorite names are Deadman Pass, Cape Disappointment, Starvation Creek, and Mount Defiance. We happened upon Cape Foulweather during a time of fairly pleasant weather. Some fluffy clouds for the sunset would have been nice, but the weather for which the cape got its name is no fun at all. We were indeed blessed.

Heh, not a house, especially not MY house, but the Columbia Boulevard Wasterwater Treatment Plant. I wanted to shoot this ever since I saw the drawings from Skylab Architecture. My youngest and I were out on one of our photo expeditions when I decided we should pay this award winning architectural edifice a visit. We will come back during the day when the grounds are open.

2014 - Rialto Beach, Washington
Back in 2014 we made our third trip the west coast, this time to the Pacific Northwest. During the six weeks of road life, we explored Glacier National Park, climbed Mount Adams, and eventually stumbled upon Olympic National Park. One evening in late July we decided to wander around Rialto Beach after sunset (we really liked the giant driftwood there). This sea stack made an impression on me, so I ran down the beach to position it under the moon. I am pleased with the result.

I have been trying to find this place for a number of years. I took a picture here back in 2007. For some reason, I thought it was in Astoria, but it was across the river in Washington.

Stanley Kubrick was all about the single-point perspective.
This sort of framing really pulls you into his story… kind of like hearing a decommissioned (and likely insane) HAL9000 self-actualizing computer sing for you: Read the full post (Estimated ~ 46 seconds reading time)
