walk together adelaide 2016, an event organised by welcome to australia
adelaide, south australia, october 22nd 2016
Upper House chamber of the bicameral State Parliament of Victoria. Between 1901 and 1927 it served as the Australian Senate until the completion of Parliament House in Canberra.
The chamber, along with the Legislative Assembly were built as separate buildings in 1856 with Bourke Street originally continuing between the two. The completion was five years after the separation of the colony of Victoria from New South Wales.
The chamber is lined with real gold leaf reflecting the wealth of the new colony during the Gold Rush of the 1850's and 60's. Note the lights here are replacements; the original chandeliers were destroyed in the days of gas lighting, although a single one survives in the Parliament library made from remains of the original three.

Despite all the recent rain, these crops were ripening nicely.

We had dinner at Cafe Gray Deluxe to celebrate my mom's birthday and to bid farewell to Mr.P, who was heading home before me. My mom's actual birthday is not actually till a few days later but this was we could celebrate with the whole family.
I did not have the chance to check out the Cafe Gray at the Time Warner Center while it was still open in NYC, so I was glad I got to try the Hong Kong restaurant. If the food in HK was at all representative of the food in NYC, I can see why they closed. When the food was good, it was fabulous. But only a couple of appetizers and one main course qualified in the fabulous category. Everything else was only ok. Despite the food, we still had a lovely time.
