The parking lot was empty. The idea of bears in the area kept us singing loudly and laughing as we walked through the forest. When our group peeked out from the trees we were struck by a dazzling scene of glorious light hitting the tops of the larches that rimmed the lake. The grand, snow-dusted mountains reflected pristinely in the water. We quite literally gasped at the sight. What a thrill to see such astonishing beauty. Those who had been there before smiled knowingly, at our reaction. For them, it was as much a joy to see our response, as it was to take in the amazing view. An hour later, when the raindrops started to fall we had to tear ourselves away, oh so reluctantly. How fortunate we are to share together, in these magnificent, stumbled-upon moments.

I have wanted to take this shot for ages, but the lighting has never been that great, and there are usually Buses in the way, but yesterday the scene was perfect.
Pulled up an image from a while ago - a secret fishing hole in Wyoming that the light hit just right that day.
With a little snow an cold weather - felt I needed a quick hit of summer to take the chill off my wintery March bones.

Partnership House, built in 2006 for Northern Rock Building Society this building located at the Regent Centre in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne is now owned by the council following the near closure of Northern Rock, and now stands only partially occupied.
Upon arrival at a new campsite in Algonquin Provincial Park (one of the Crown Jewels of provincial parks in Canada for those less familiar) I was startled by a trio of Bluejays who boldly landed a meter or two from the table. I was reminded that I was back on their turf here in Ontario. Such a striking and beautiful bird, they are… This was a rather Hail Mary kind of shot because I just pointed the camera and hoped the settings would work.
Last week, I talked about writing a piece about why we embrace the imperfections of film photography. And then I lost it. Well, I re-wrote it and turned it into my next post on Substack.

This is a shot a took in 2015 on Ilford Pan F+. My fixer crapped out and I didn't know it until I scanned the roll. So I fixed again and the problem dissolved itself in fresh fixer.
