No crop here, as this young adult came in quickly and got pretty close. Worth viewing large to see the eagle details and the details on that poor fish.

This little wonderful bird was about a foot from me.
I could not resist get a closeup! This has not been cropped.

I just returned from a long trip in my van to Texas. I did stop at Paynes Prairie along the way but nothing was doing there. I travelled all the way to McCallen Texas and vicinity, south enough to meet a few border guards and see the fence. The guards were quite nice and I enjoyed talking with them. Before shooting at the Ranches with friends, I spent about a week exploring the area, getting stuck in the sand on the beach, and eating a lot of Mexican food. I hit about six local parks and South Padre, but due to the winds nothing was happening and most of the parks were dead. However, Estero Llano Grande State Park was a lot of fun and I found several subjects there. This bobcat being the star. I was alone, quietly watching some birds by a small pond when I sensed something behind me and saw this young bobcat coming my way. Moving slowly, I crouched down and remained still. It hesitated for a few moments then cautiously walked right by me. Once it got past it trotted into the bush. I can tell you, I felt pretty good! As it walked it was well inside of my focal distance and all I could do was enjoy its brief company. I bet it could hear my heart. Ah, moments like this….
