Originally, I was going to title this "Magna res est vocis et silentii temperamentum" (great thing is to know when to speak and when to keep quiet). But, that is too long & I babble too much. I'm not going to tell you about this photo. I want you to appreciate it (or hate it) for how it appears, not for what it is.

San Francisco International Airport has many different takeoff/landing configurations: clear skies and calm winds means the airport can use the most effective configuration, 28-01; as in landing 28s, departing 01s. When bad weather rolls through, you will usually see 10-19 in use. Crazy winds out of the north see the sexiest configuration, 01-01, and crazy storms blowing through see 19-19 in use.
Here, we see a common sight during the summer. Every day, at around 15:00, the winds out of the west increase to 20+ knots, meaning we see 28-28. In this departure lineup, led by an Air Force C-17, you can see pretty much every domestic narrowbody operator at SFO waiting their turn for departure.
Peak leaf color in northeast Connecticut was a couple of weeks ago and I mostly missed it. I left for D.C. just as my whole neighborhood started glowing and I returned just after many of the maples had dropped their reds. I did see some of the glory on an errand run in WIllimantic.
