The distinctive rock formation Hestmannen is found on Storseløy between Lurøy and Rødøy Municipalities in Nordland County rising 571 metres above sea level. From certain angles, the formation resembles the shadow of a knight mounted on his horse.

This landmark plays the classic role of the unruly child in a Nordland tale of trolls that became the mountains of the Nordland coast. As the tale is told, the knight Hestmannen was chasing Lekamøya at dawn and shot an arrow that pierced the Brønnøy King's hat. Sunrise arrived at that very instant, petrifying them all. Hestmannen became the rock formation that we now see, while the King's hat turned into Torghatten, the granite mountain with a distinctive gap though the middle of its mountainside.

Young male Highlander.

This guy posed, prettily, for about ten minutes, before returning to grazing. He was very interested in and curious about the camera, and gazed, thoughtfully (!), through his unruly ginger locks. He seemed a very quiet and gentle youngster and it was a pleasure spending this short time with him in the late summer sunshine.

There was a time when my family and I had an aquarium with 4 fish (one for each member of the family). My mother's fish was very conceited and his name was Nabucodonosor. My sister's was the prettiest. She was always the spoilt child of the house, that's why she could choose the most beautiful fish. His name was Nepomuceno. Mine had to be red, because I was always red of the "Reds" of Anfield, Liverpool and their a cappella song and sporting liturgy "You'll Never Walk Alone". He was an unruly, playful fish I called Nicéforo. And the one my father chose looked helpless and defenceless. He called him Norberto. He chose him because for my father all people deserved respect, but especially the most helpless and defenceless. He also picked up from the street an abandoned and defenceless cat that he also called Norberto. His fixation with this name has always caught my attention. It's strange that my parents didn't decide to call me... Norberto. Someone explained to us that fish have a memory of only a few seconds. Hence the phrase "you have less memory than a fish". But that's not true. Some fish can remember their predators for at least a year. Post-traumatic stress. One of the animals with the shortest memory are seals. Good thing we didn't decide to have four seals at home. The bathtub would have always been occupied. Since the fish didn't pay much attention to us, perhaps because of their lack of memory, we decided to shorten their names. Nabucodonosor became "Na", Nepomuceno "Ne", Nicéforo "Ni" and Norberto "No". They were the "NaNeNiNo". The cat was lucky... He kept his name and continued to be called Norberto. Little by little and one by one, the "NaNeNiNo" left our lives. Nicéforo was the last one. He was left alone in the aquarium / Forbidden City. He was its last tenant and emperor. He appeared one day on the surface with his body arched and lifeless. It was a very sad day for me. I had lost my little "Red", the last emperor of the "NaNeNiNo" dynasty, my little friend "You'll Never Walk Alone"... I lost Ni.

This picture is dedicated to my parents, my sister and the "NaNeNiNo". Well... I also dedicate it to Norberto the cat, although I suspect his feelings towards fish were different from the rest of the family. The aquarium was always dirty on the outside and with smudges of his nose and paws on the glass. Norberto, the cat, had no memory, he lived absolutely in the future, a future more tasty and succulent for him... When he watched the fish, his lower jaw collided with his upper jaw and his teeth began to "chatter". He would run his tongue along the glass of the aquarium, trying to catch one of the "NaNeNiNo".

PS: Parents almost always have solutions for all their children's problems. The loss of "Ni" was replaced by the arrival of a ten-day-old puppy dog, who, if not adopted, was going to be put down. Our particular jungle, which also included a parakeet called "Periquito" ("Parakeet"... It's strange that my father didn't call him Norberto) and two tortoises called Raquel Welch and Brigitte Bardot, was joined by a new member in the form of a puppy dog that we had to feed with hundreds of bottles. What I never understood, and I don't think I ever will understand, is why I named him... Música (Music).

I stumbled across this divide between the unruly beech and regimental conifers some time ago in Hillock Wood and did a mono in the mist but always wondered what it would be like when the sun painted it with rays. Well I got my moment although the rays were fleeting but loved how they lit up the little fern.

Windansea Beach is home to a popular surf break in La Jolla, California.

In 1919, Arthur Thorpe Snell, a La Jolla hotelier ran a naming contest to re-brand his oceanfront Strand Hotel. The winning name, Windansea, eventually carried forward to the beach, and the neighborhood that grew around it, after the hotel burned down in 1943.

In 1946, three local men built a surf shack to provide some beach shade for kids, and it became a surfer's hangout. There were huge annual celebrations of the shack that became unruly and subject of multiple police raids over the years. A group of surfers and locals, the "Mac Meda Destruction Company," continued the parties through the 1960s, earning a mention in Tom Wolfe's novel, 'The Pump House Gang', about the territorial teenage surfers at Windansea Beach.

The shack has been rebuilt and moved over the years due to the destructive forces of the waves. It's current location on the rocks back from the beach, should keep it around a bit longer; it was designated an Historical Landmark in 1998.

Three Amigos orphan coons, there mother brought them up for an easy meal but after about a week she disappeared and they kept coming, very hungry so I fed them for several months while they were being unruly then calmed down, I really like this photograph and have sold it almost 100 times on stock photo sites, I hope you get a chuckle out of it.

The story:

Klara was 14 in this picture. We, like many others, decided that Covid was a good time to get a puppy -since we would be home... Not.

Anyway, Klara was a very well-mannered girl. She didn't think too much of an unruly puppy. We decided new puppy needed some training, so I bought a book.

One of the many little bridges in Glencoe that was built by General Caulfield as part of his networkof military roads built to help “tame the wild and unruly Scots” after the 1715 uprising. Caulfield carried on with the task when the more well known General Wade retired… essentially carving out what we know today as the A82… Photography often makes me go reading and learning a little history about the subject of my photos!

This was taken on my first day up at Glencoe when I got some very varied and interesting conditions.

words are difficult

things to swallow

I can think

shake with electricity

It was once the largest shipyard in the world, but in the 1980s the 'Nederlandse Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij' went bankrupt and the site on the north side of the IJ became vacant. Nowadays you imagine yourself here in Brooklyn or Berlin, because the messy yard with its rusty sheds and unruly concrete has become the ideal backdrop for a new generation of creative people and entrepreneurs.

I am sure Leonard Cohen would write a poem or song about the unruly pigeon, who defies the mandatory order to sit on his predetermined place. There is always one. The pigeons are strange flock. I observed them few times as they take off for no apparent reason. One by one they all join, make few circles and than settle on the same spot.

Kent School is now in mothballs for few years. The 1908 building will be soon removed to make a place for new development, as is nearby Brock school. Who needs schools anyway, you can Google anything, anytime.
