The Oriented Natural Reserve of the Saline di Trapani and Paceco is a protected natural area of Sicily that extends for almost 1000 hectares in the territory of the municipalities of Trapani and Paceco.
The reserve, within which the ancient activity of extraction of sea salt is carried out, is an important wetland, which offers shelter to numerous species of migratory birds. It is managed by WWF Italy.
Much of the Reserve is made up of privately owned salt pans, where salt extraction is still practiced according to traditional techniques in use for centuries.
The presence of numerous windmills is of considerable landscape impact.
They are traditionally of different types: those used to pump water between basins, the mill for lifting the water, and finally those for grinding salt crystals.
During the day I don't believe in ghosts. At night I'm a little more open-minded.

Palazzo Castrone - Santa Ninfa, located a few steps from the floor of the Cathedral of Palermo, is one of the most valuable buildings of the 16th century.
The construction of the building was commissioned in 1588 by Cristoforo Castrone, a member of an ancient and illustrious patrician family from Palermo, who commissioned Giuseppe Giacalone to build his home. Even today, on the pediment that surmounts the portal, a golden lion going on three bars, the coat of arms of the Castrone family, is still visible.
The Palace is also called "Santa Ninfa" because from the end of the seventeenth century to 1820 it was owned by the Giardina, Marquesses of Santa Ninfa.
Historical building, currently it is the seat of the MEC Museum, among the most important Apple collections in Europe.
The Villa Vittorio Emanuele is the splendid Public Garden of the city of Caltagirone (CT) particularly renowned for being among the largest in Sicily.
It was built in 1846 by Giovan Battista Filippo Basile, taking the prestigious English Parks as a source of inspiration.
Beautiful paths surrounded by wonderful trees and exotic plants make up the rich vegetation, to which are added splendid ornamental installations, including terracotta vases, Sicilian majolica and the inevitable Caltagirone ceramics, true excellence of local craftsmanship.
Inside the Villa Vittorio Emanuele Public Garden you can also find a beautiful Music Stage built in Moorish style.

La Villa Vittorio Emanuele è lo splendido Giardino Pubblico della città di Caltagirone (CT) particolarmente rinomato per essere tra i più grandi della Sicilia.
Venne realizzata nel 1846 ad opera di Giovan Battista Filippo Basile, prendendo come fonte di ispirazione i prestigiosi Parchi inglesi.
Splendidi sentieri contornati dai meravigliosi alberi e piante esotiche compongono la ricca vegetazione, a cui si aggiungono splendide installazioni ornamentali, tra vasi in terracotta, maioliche siciliane e le immancabili Ceramiche di Caltagirone, vere e proprie eccellenze dell’artigianato locale.
All’interno del Giardino Pubblico Villa Vittorio Emanuele è possibile trovare anche un bellissimo Palco Musicale realizzato in stile moresco.
The Cathedral of Palermo is one of the most characteristic monuments of the city: visiting it is like leafing through a history book of Sicily.
It is the main place of worship in the city of Palermo and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Its highly original mix of styles, with elements of Greek, Roman, Arab, Norman, Catalan and Gothic art, is a direct consequence of the presence of multiple populations that, over the centuries, have alternated on Sicilian soil.
The style of the twelfth century prevails over all, the Norman one, although the appearance of the church as we see it today is due to modifications and additions from the eighteenth century.
A highly suggestive experience is the visit of the roofs of the Cathedral, thanks to which it is possible to discover the artistic and architectural elements of the external walls of the monument and admire Palermo from above.

Sferracavallo is a seaside village
of Palermo, at the foot of the promontory of Capo Gallo on one side and of Monte Billiemi on the other.
It is located on the northern border of Palermo, near Mondello.
A good part of the territory of Sferracavallo is included in the oriented reserve of Capo Gallo; the stretch of sea, which bathes the seaside village, is part of the Capo Gallo-Isola delle Femmine Marine Protected Area.

Si trova al confine nord di Palermo, nelle vicinanze di Mondello.
Una buona parte del territorio di Sferracavallo è inserito nella riserva orientata di Capo Gallo; il tratto di mare, che bagna la borgata marinara, fa parte dell'Area Marina Protetta Capo Gallo-Isola delle Femmine.

This is an unposed shot on both men's parts. It was not set up. Although some will recognise the man on the left as one of my models (Retro Rob), this was not taken during a shoot and Rob and the street sweeper were both equally unaware what was happening til the moment I actually clicked.
The story behind the shot is that we were walking between locations around the city when this random street sweeper walked past Rob, and seeing the juxtaposition and the contrasts of them both wheeling something, wham, I whipped up my camera that was hanging around my neck and clicked.
Rob is quite a dandy in real life and works in an upmarket menswear's shop in the city. I understand he genuinely dresses like this when not modelling. His actual shoot clothes for the location we were heading to were in the case he was wheeling ;)
