Well, I finally got power back after being down for a week. It was nice to unplug for a while, but I am glad to have ice and a warm shower.

This geyser, known as Castle can be found on the grounds of the Yellowstone Inn. It is really beautiful and if it erupts at a certain time of day it creates a beautiful waterfall.

"What the computer in virtual reality enables us to do is to recalibrate ourselves so that we can start seeing those pieces of information that are invisible to us but have become important for us to understand." - Douglas Adams

A moment of quiet gratitude before the cottage stirs; before the puttering of fishing boats; the hum of cicadas; the shrieks of laughter and the splashing of water. So grateful for a week to unplug from all the negative noise of the world.

Get out. Peace. Freedom. Apathy. Relax. High. Heaven. Sound of Silence. Dream. Float. The End. Unplug yourself. Switch off.

P.S.: To those on campus, who understand, this is not a reference to 'Switch Off' in any way! :D

Forcing myself to click. Because I want to. Decent start eh? A return to the slightly darker side.

Avez vous eu l'envie de débranchez une veille imbuvable une fois dans votre vie ? Moi oui ...

Another single image, not part of any series. I was thrilled to once again see a Wilson's Snipe on a post at Elk Island National Park. I hav eno idea if this is the same Snipe that I have seen in years past, but it does seem more than coincidental that the post seems to be occupied each year by a Wilson's Snipe.

Would have preferred lighting from the front instead of the bck but I did the best I could with what I had to work with. Taken from inside my car, I was only allowed a couple of shots before it took off.

Will be baqck later to comment, as I may unplug my computer with the sound of thunder and threatening looking clouds in the area. Getting to that time of year.

Just a quick upload and run for me today; it's been a busy day and I need to hit the road tonight so I think I'll just leave this here and play catch up with Flickr tomorrow or Saturday when I'm back in town.

I don't much feel like dragging the laptop with me so I think it's best just to leave it at home and catch up with reality and everything else at a later date. It's always good to unplug once in a while anyway!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

We've been on the road visiting friends, and then my daughter and her family....nice to pretty much unplug for several days, but also miss seeing your photos! Will be back on regularly in a day or two.

Thanks for visiting, much appreciated. Enjoy your weekend.

it's also been very dark and wet.

We have been without power since sun. a.m. The dogs are not happy nor are we. We're hoping for downed lines to be fixed some time tonight. [and they were at about 8 pm] My bed smells like a swamp ...boo's feet have made perfect little footprints. Schubert smells funky. Chai is not happy, and I missed the golden globes. and worst of all, we still have mr trump as president-elect. sighhhhhh....

we're supposed to get another storm tonight/tomorrow with thunder and lightning and wind, that damn wind.

the pg&e guy told us not to totally unplug the generator we have for the fridges and one light in the kitchen. it may start all over again tomorrow. [tues]

i took a hot bath and washed my hair.

it's nice to have a flushable toilet.

Soffia sui campi la tramontana;

gli alberi scuote.

e dai rami

stacca le foglie.

Il vento le sparge,

lontano per i campi,

e tutt'intorno ai loro alberi

molte foglie lì rimangono,

come volessero rimanere a casa,

vicino al loro albero,

la loro dimora.

In the fall, in the countryside there is a harmony of colors, they seem to be painted, they represent a mixture of marvelous colors.

You see, sometimes you can not decide which one is the nicest corner, right, left, in front, all are unique paintings.

Blows on the fields the wind;

the trees shake.

and branches

unplug the leaves.

The wind spares it,

far to the fields,

and all around their trees

many leaves remain there,

as if they want to stay home,

near their tree,

their home.

**STARLESS VERSION OF THE NORTH AMERICA NEBULA**

Well, managed to get this in one night. Conditions were not to bad but the moon was at 80% so I took the Ha first and the Oiii when the moon was lower. Took long than expected as the guide camera stopped working 3 times which required me to unplug and reconnect, need to look into that. Well, though the moon is on its way out so are the clear skies according to the weather forecast for the next two weeks so I guess no more imaging.

Object Description:-

This is NGC 7000 the North America Nebula. It is an emission Nebula in the constellation of Cygnus at a distance of approximate 1,600 - 1,800 ly with a visual mag of 4.0 and is made up mainly of ionized hydrogen. The brightest part is known as the Cygnus Wall which exhibits the most concentrated area of star formation. A band of interstellar gas between us and the nebula absorbs the light of the stars giving it this unique shape.

Some days you have to turn off the news

and listen to the bird or truck

or the neighbor screaming out her life.

You have to close all the books and open

all the windows so that whatever swirls

inside can leave and whatever flutters

against the glass can enter. Some days

you have to unplug the phone and step

out to the porch and rock all afternoon

and allow the sun to tell you what to do.

The whole day has to lie ahead of you

like railroad tracks that drift off into gravel.

Some days you have to walk down the wooden

staircase through the evening fog to the river,

where the peach roses are closing,

sit on the grassy bank and wait for the two geese.

Breza is a Castle Licca with the classic bob hairstyle. With the light coming from the street in the background and hitting the first snow of the season, Breza reminds me of a snow princess from a fairytale or maybe a ballerina in a winter-themed ballet production. ^o^ It feels like it's mere moments before her pale cheeks get reddened from the cold.

We've only had snow for a few days but I've taken a lot of outdoors pictures of Liccas already, and with new Liccas having just arrived, I hope to take even more over the weekend.

The gauze dress is by Wimukt aka Foxybrowny (it ties in the back with ribbon, how sweet!), the head piece is Takara Jenny, the necklace is by me.

Sorry I've been absent for a bit. I just got back from a fun trip to Glacier Park in Montana. It was so nice to get away and unplug for a few days. Glacier is just incredible! Each time I go there I feel overwhelmed with the beauty and tranquility of God's creation.

I got to meet up with Ryan Dyar, Candace Bartlett, and Mazen Alh. We had a blast! I think everyone's favorite day was the 12 mile hike out to Cracker Lake. It's the most turquoise lake in the park due to the amount of glacier silt in the water. I absolutely loved the color of the water! I think this is my new favorite spot! Thankfully we didn't encounter any grizzly bears. It was nice to be hiking in a group as we made our way back down the trail in the dark after shooting the sunset. I highly recommend this hike!!

Anyway, I'll try to catch up with all you people and I hope your summer has been full of adventure and good light :)

The Philadelphia Experiment

(Better Viewed Large.) This early afternoon, the weather changed from a hot, sunny, blue sky to scary thundering and downpours. It felt as if the thundering were going to chop the house into halves. Scary.....!! *o* (Yes, hon, I did unplug the computers. ^__^)

I found something to take my mind off the scary thunders-- doing experiments to catch the "white arrows" (see the notes on the image) of the downpours! I think I succeeded!

Off to the cottage shortly, have a great weekend!

The topic for Macro Mondays is Coffee, a topic that's right up my alley. This is my second go at this image, since I lost the first one when some !*#@%^!!&?! got into my computer with ransom ware, locked it up and demanded $300 to unlock it. Fortunately, my wife Sammy got a hold of our computer-genius son while I was on the phone with the crooks, and he told me very emphatically to unplug the computer NOW! So, I did and brought it to our son, who will install a new hard drive, along with Windows 10, and I'll have me a new computer, something I badly needed anyway. Fortunately, most of my stuff was backed up, but I lost a few weeks worth of images that I hadn't backed up yet, including a bunch of images that were sitting in my Flickr folder, waiting to be posted. In the interim, I'm using Sammy's laptop, with which I processed this image, so I'll be able to get along okay until I get my computer back.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie

Lipstick junkie

Debunked the all in one

She came back wearing a smile

Looking like someone drugged me

That wanted to unplug me

No one here is on trial

It's just a turnaround

And we go, oh

Well, then we go uh, uh, uh, uh

Tick-tock, I want to rock you like the '80s

Cock blocking isn't allowed

Tugboat Sheila is into memorabilia

Who said three is a crowd

We better get it on the go

Hey now

We've got to make it rain somehow

She told me to

And showed me what to do

How Maggie makes it in her cloud

I said, hey now

We've got to make it rain somehow

She told me to

And showed me what to do

She knows how to make it loud

Rain dance Maggie

Advances to the final

Who knew that she had the goods

Little did I know

Her body was one delicious vinyl

To your neck of the woods

I want to lick a little bit

Hey now

We've got to make it rain somehow

She told me to

And showed me what to do

How Maggie makes it in her cloud

We've got the wrong girl

But not for long, girl

It's in the song, girl

'Cause I'll be gone, girl

Hey now

We've got to make it rain somehow

She told me to

And showed me what to do

How Maggie makes it in her cloud

I said, hey now

I want to rock this rowdy crowd

She told me to

And showed me what to do

She knows how to make it loud

But not for long, girl

It's in the song, girl

'Cause I'll be gone, bye-bye-bye, yeah

Bye-bye-bye, girl

Bye-bye, girl

Bye-bye, girl

Bye-bye

What I should probably upload today is a photo of the wires that have mated under my desk in the past 10 years, and my attempts to know which ones to unplug so that the new computer can be "hooked up" relatively quickly. I'm hoping that the 2022 iteration of a PC works like a "Smart TV" (an oxymoron if ever I heard one), and just recognized stuff and connects through some miracle of bluetoothery and a one terabyte jump drive full of the "old" software and drivers.

This Chamelauclium is toward the end of the three stages of flowering for the plant. I had it all planned out, but a couple of weeks after taking this shot, a new patch of Chamelauclium sprang up with the initial green and white flowers, red buds, and the hint of purple just peeking through. It is a large shrub and I guess one can find (now) all four flowers. It's a shame that it will start to seed in another week or two, and then it will be a year before I can tackle the composition of Chamelaucliums (ia?) once again.

Sorry but I must post and run - have a ballgame shortly...another loss headed my way ;)

216/365: I spent all of last week in Wasaga Beach alone with my two boys. We had a ball together. I missed having an internet connection but it was nice to unplug from the electronic world. The weather was wonderful for most of the week so we were able to enjoy beautiful skies like this one.

I'm looking at this now and thinking I should have brightened it up a tad though...

Day 2 of storm shooting! I was running errands and saw this big bloomer and headed to the tower on my day off to get some pix.... I know. It was actually 60 miles away. Big ones just about to hit here now, so I'm going to unplug and hope to keep the power. We really need the rain though...

'Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes…Including you.'

Your phone can run out of power, but you can not! Look up and get going! Unplug today!

It seems to me that these days our interactions with our smart phones and computers have become more important than interactions with human beings. While I love the internet and technology as much as anyone else, I still think sometimes it is better to have a good old school conversation. And sometimes you can't even prevent it, because your phone has run out of power. :)

I hope you like this simple build. I had this idea a while ago and the build was standing on my shelf for a while now. Yesterday I finally got around to taking some photos, so you can see it now. I also have some more ideas, but right now my university projects are preventing me from building. But once I'm done with those, I'll surely get around to building some stuff again.

Sometimes we just need to unplug for a while. Smoke some gator meat,

After I had downloaded the three previous photos from my phone to my laptop (only one really looked good), I stepped outside again and saw the rainbow looking brighter and bolder. I went back in to unplug my phone, and when I got back outside the rainbow had faded slightly. It was brighter and much longer. Nature never waits for its closeup. Either get it at that moment, or lose it.
