Unity Candle. This was the first wedding I have taken pictures at and I couldn't be in enough places at one time

Unity Day activities included displays, demonstrations, artifacts and food sampling from different groups in 21 ethnic or cultural booths.

Unity Temple Chicago.

Supposed to be the first "architect designed" reinforced concrete building.

It's quite good.

FLW was without doubt an architectural genius, but am reading a book about his Taliesin studios ("The Fellowship"), - he was wierd to say the least.

We're spoilt for pub choices in this part of town, and every few weeks we seem to discover another one that we really like. Our most recent discovery was the London Unity, which does a "Monday Curry Club". The atmosphere is nice, their curries are really good, and you get a loyalty card which encourages you to keep coming back. Which is just what we've done.

Unity Temple in Oak Park, a national landmark (1908). Unity Temple was one of the first non-residential structures designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright was a Unitarian, and agreed to help the Universalists construct a new church after their original one burned town in 1905. It was one of the first bipartite designs, where two sections of a building stand at different heights and are separated with a passageway. The lot for the Unity Temple was on a busy street, so Wright did not include any street-level windows. It's most important contribution, to architecture, however, may be its concrete exterior. Concrete was not viewed as a medium that could be useful in architecture, but it has since become the most important material and spawned the modernist movement.

From the Stacey postcard collection. Bought around 1907 but probably before then.
