3140 S. Indiana, Chicago. 1887. L.B. Dixon, architect. From Wikipedia: "Unity Hall is a historic building located at 3140 S. Indiana Ave. in the Douglas community area of Chicago, Illinois. Built in 1887, the building originally served as a Jewish social club called the Lakeside Club. The red brick building, designed by local architect L.B. Dixon, features terra cotta decorations and sheet metal edging. In 1917, Chicago alderman Oscar Stanton De Priest founded the Peoples Movement Club and made Unity Hall its headquarters. De Priest was the first African-American to serve on the Chicago City Council, and he established the Peoples Movement Club to organize the black community politically. The Peoples Movement Club became "one of the best organized political groups" in Chicago's Black Metropolis neighborhood, and De Priest became the first African-American U.S. Representative from the northern states in 1928."

Warm thanks for your visit and comments!
Week 4 had us focusing on Unity, where the idea was to create an image where all elements support each other and all work together toward a common goal – to express your intended message.
This collage features photos from participating members. Find out more at Compositionally Challenged, where we aim to inspire creativity and improve our technical skills.
The background for this collage is a photo by CC member Lesley.
This is the outfit I wore last night to the Houston Unity Banquet Event. This annual event in Houston was attended by about 400 people and featured key note speaker Mara Keisling who is a Washington DC based advocate for TG Equality. Another guest speaker was our new Houston Mayor Anise Parker who also is very supportive of the TG community.

I met Leslie Anne at Unity 2006 but don't remember her that year; I meet and greet lots of people and had a date with another girl that night. At Unity 2007 I certainly wasn't blind to her beauty, but what impressed me the most was her intelligence, radiant personality, common interests with me, and the fact that she was leaving on a long overseas work assignment. I wanted to get to know her then and felt cheated of the opportunity to see if my hunches were correct. I had my chance the following year on the Ides of March. Unlike Julius Caesar, no assassin's dagger pierced my heart; it was captured by a lovely spring flower. We had our first date 31 May 2008.
Another shirt design for WILDLEEK...
For this one they gave me a list of translations for the word Unity/as one and wanted me to form them into some organic typographic mass. I tried not to use too many hard edges and keep loose and fun.
This is the citrusy colorway.

This was a quick detail shot of a group of Indian women celebrating International woman's day . We stood by the side of the road and clapped and cheered . To see these young women marching with pride was for us quite emotional . Especially given India's longstanding bad record for treatment of women ...BRAVO !

Unity is one of the strongest property of human. Unity makes us social. Unity in family makes a family happier but some times we feel and see lack of unity within us...
I meet this tribal family in Boga Lake, Bandarban. They are total three members in their family. I loved the moment when I saw three of them working in front of their house... This is Unity...

Concentric circles often reflect (spiritual) wholeness or unity. If correct here, this suggests spirits to match.

In 1968, the city agreed to turn over an L-shaped, quarter-acre section of the Kimball Avenue parking facility to the Chicago Park District, which installed playground equipment at the site. Beginning in 1987, the Park District began working with a community group to develop a plan for upgrading the park with additional playground equipment and plantings. Improvements were completed in part through residents’ active participation. Problems in an adjacent city parking lot in the late 1990s led to the transformation of that parking lot into a three-quarter-acre expansion for Unity Park. The Chicago Park District installed a new playground in the park.

Ceremonies are the hardest part of a wedding to differentiate your photography. Although the venues may be different between the $500 and the $50,000 photographer, in general the basic actions, and what you have to capture, are the same. So I was happy to take a challenging situation (heavily backlit ceremony) and use it for a different take on lighting the Unity Candle.
