Each ring of this sculpture is a Mobius strip, described by the parametric equations:
x = cos(v)+u*cos(v/2)*cos(v)
y = u*sin(v/2)
z = sin(v)+u*cos(v/2)*sin(v)
u plotted from -0.5 .... 0.5
v plotted from 0 ... 2 pi
It was a busy day today...doing some promo work for a brochure for Year 10 High School Art Works and visited my other daughter in one of her art classes at her High School. The students were happy for me to photograph this. They were wonderful with their honesty, free uncomplicated spirit and unity. This says so much, don't you agree?
Unity, By Simon Donovan and Ben Olmstead, Tucson, AZ
"For the Grant Road Improvement Project Phase 2, Simon Donovan & Ben Olmstead were selected to complete artwork for the project. The sculpture they created is called Unity and is comprised of five figures, three female, two male. Each one is approximately 10 feet tall. They stand in a circle facing outward, holding hands and leaning far forward. They would tumble forward if not for the cooperation, trust, and collective effort that is required in forming an unbroken ring. Thus the title "Unity".
"The sculpture is made of hundreds of parallel, vertically aligned stainless steel plates, each held 1 inch apart. The result is a study of figures with a shifting perception of form as one moves around the sculpture. Additionally, it will be illuminated with amber colored LED lights at night."

An even smaller version than my previous model (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright). This version uses only 123 pieces.

Piazza del Campo is the principal public space of the historic center of Siena, Tuscany, Italy and is one of Europe's greatest medieval squares. It is renowned worldwide for its beauty and architectural integrity. The Palazzo Pubblico and its Torre del Mangia, as well as various palazzi signorili surround the shell-shaped piazza. At the northwest edge is the Fonte Gaia.
The twice-per-year horse-race, Palio di Siena, is held around the edges of the piazza.
Gores of brick paving viewed from the Torre del Mangia
The open site was a marketplace established before the thirteenth century on a sloping site near the meeting point of the three hillside communities that coalesced to form Siena: the Castellare, the San Martino and the Camollia. Siena may have had earlier Etruscan settlements, but it was not a considerable Roman settlement, and the campo does not lie on the site of a Roman forum, as is sometimes suggested. It was paved in 1349 in fishbone-patterned red brick with ten lines of travertine, which divide the piazza into nine sections, radiating from the mouth of the gavinone (the central water drain) in front of the Palazzo Pubblico. The number of divisions are held to be symbolic of the rule of The Nine (Noveschi) who laid out the campo and governed Siena at the height of its mediaeval splendour between 1292-1355. It was and remains the focal point of public life in the City. From the piazza, eleven narrow shaded streets radiate into the city.
The palazzi signorili that line the square, housing the families of the Sansedoni, the Piccolomini and the Saracini etc, have unified rooflines, in contrast to earlier tower houses — emblems of communal strife — such as may still be seen not far from Siena at San Gimignano. In the statutes of Siena, civic and architectural decorum was ordered :"...it responds to the beauty of the city of Siena and to the satisfaction of almost all people of the same city that any edifices that are to be made anew anywhere along the public thoroughfares...proceed in line with the existent buildings and one building not stand out beyond another, but they shall be disposed and arranged equally so as to be of the greatest beauty for the city."[1]
The unity of these Late Gothic houses is effected in part by the uniformity of the bricks of which their walls are built: brick-making was a monopoly of the commune, which saw to it that standards were maintained. (Ingersoll)
At the foot of the Palazzo Pubblico's wall is the late Gothic Chapel of the Virgin built as an ex voto by the Sienese, after the terrible Black Death of 1348 had ended.
This is a black and white version of the Unity school. The school is over 100 years old. If you look through my photo stream you will see that I rarely convert images to B&W. This is because I usually like the color version better. However, on rare occasion I like the B&W version better. This is one such instance and I feel this version does the image more justice and has more mood to it.

# Boys from Papua and Java
I met these boys at Demak Education Expo.
They said they were students of Latansa *Latansa (Aribic) means not to forgot* Yunior High School
They was perform a Javanese-Sumatra traditional martial art called Pencak Silat.
But what make me interested is, their unity in diversity.
Some came from Papua-eastern Indonesia, some were Javanese-West and Central.
Different races, colors skin, and Island where they born, also different tongue to speak Indonesia, were melt when they play together.
But when I ask them for a photo, the Papua boys seems shy.
They were a bit afraid to watch straight to my lens!
Or perhaps afraid of me?
Oh well, dear.. I am not that frightening!
As a teacher, I did want to protest to their teacher, how did you educate their personality?
Nothing to afraid for!
Nothing to shame!
Where ever you came, we live in one earth in equality.
As our nation motto, Bhineka Tunggal Ika ~ Unity in diversity.
So please, be proud!
Stand straight, lift your face, and smile!
You and I, we, were, are same!

"The palate colors had to be the PanAm colors red, green blue, white and my theme was 'unity' so this was the end result after 3.5 hours of work, not including the set up of the canvas.
The artwork is now showcased in City Hall downtown Toronto:

"I am more than what you think of me. I am their patience and there fury, but more importantly I am their love..."
This character is the accidental fusion of two star crossed lovers, I young Agori from Tesara and a Oun-Matoran.
She is their love given form, She is their Unity.
I was inspired by Steven Universe on this character mostly Garnet and Opal's designs.
Being left without all my cams i've started to look through archives and found a lot of works good enough to be shared.

Once again the great unity federation shows itself from years of deep space exploration! Since it took years, the federation has equipped its army with a new Standard Issue Weapon the USIW (Unity Standard Issue Weapon). Like its predecessors, its a Plasma rifle. it comes with a smart scope as standard option and also a secondary power plug for use with external power cells. it also have options for low, med, high output energy. low being a higher rate of fire due to less heat produced.
Inspiration:
"The PanAm Games remind me of the Olympics.. so, in the design, I implemented the 4 circles that are a portion of the well known olympic sports' logo.
In addition, my theme was 'unity' so I combined the first cyclist's tire with the second's cyclist, and then superimposed the tire of the third cyclist to the previous one in order to represent a form of unity in the drawing.
My composition was also partly inspired by A.Neate's sculpted artwork representation of cyclists.
With only 3 hours to complete this entire mural, I plotted the points in accordance to my scaled drawing and began to chalk in the outlines of the design as seen here in this picture (above).
I am now hoping that my art team will help me block in the colors to save time with the completion of this mural painting."
