Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not. Dr. Seuss, The Lorax
Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. - Albert Einstein
If you want to end the war then Instead of sending guns, send books. Instead of sending tanks, send pens. Instead of sending soldiers, send teachers. -
Malala Yousafzai (17 year-old Noble Peace Laureate)
To replace the old paradigm of war with a new paradigm of waging peace, we must be pioneers who can push the boundaries of human understanding. We must be doctors who can cure the virus of violence. We must be soldiers of peace who can do more than preach to the choir. And we must be artists who will make the world our masterpiece. - Paul Chappell
Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! xo💜💜

Europe, Netherlands, Rotterdam, Museumpark, Chabot museum, Bauhaus exposition, Form and color organ with touching color sound (slightly cut)
The 'Form and color organ with touching color sounds ' art work was designed in 1901 by Kurt Schmidt and crafted by Holger Zolkowski in 1960. The structure is wood painted with oil and distemper.
Kurt Schmiidt was a painter and a stage and set designer. He studied at Bauhaus in Dessau from 1920 to 1924. His teachers included Paul Klee, Wassiliy Kandinsky, Theo van Doesburg, László Moholy-Nagy and Johannes Itten.
About Bauhaus: "Bauhaus, the 20th century’s most influential school of art and design. Active during the years of Germany’s Weimar Republic (1919–33), the Bauhaus aimed to unite artists, architects, and craftsmen in the utopian project of designing a new world. The school promoted experimental, hands-on production; realigned hierarchies between high and low, artist and worker, teacher and student; sharpened the human senses toward both physical materials and media environments; embraced new technologies in conjunction with industry; and imagined and enacted cosmopolitan forms of communal living. The legacies of the Bauhaus are visible today, extending well beyond modernist forms and into the ways we live, teach, and learn." Source: here.
Source: here.

The UN Secretary-General’s UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign has proclaimed 25th of every month as “Orange Day” – a day to take action to raise awareness and prevent violence against women and girls. Activists from around the world, governments and UN partners have organized Orange Day actions calling for safety from violence at homes, schools, work places and public spaces.
Mikey Mercer, Caribbean UNiTE artist, joined in, explaining that, “I wear orange because I lost a friend to domestic violence and I am not afraid to show everyone, I stand up to end violence against women and children.”
Now it's your turn: From 25 November to 10 December, we want your help to make these actions bigger, bolder, and global. We want to Orange the World in 16 Days.

BIKE ART
bicycles in art around the world
Kiriakos Iosifidis
Release: November 2011 | Size: 21x30 cm | Pages: 256
Retail: 29,90 EUR | ISBN: 978-3-939566-37-3 | English | Hardcover
The bicycle is one of the most popular means of transportation around the world. It gives us the possibility to be as free as we want to be. We use it for transportation, sports, and fun. The equipment can vary from cheap to expensive, from athletic to comfortable; for each need you can find a bicycle that meets your expectations.
Within the last years, more and more people have been addicted to bicycling. Some because they want to move along eco-friendly, others because they rediscovered the fun and action one experiences while riding stunning trails or tricky fun parks challenging ones fitness and competing with other riders. Or just because it is the most flexible vehicle in car-crowded cities. For those people the bicycle is not just a means of transportation. It represents their way of life and their individuality. This deep relation inspired a lot of them to express their passion in artworks dealing with
bikes or using the bicycle itself as canvas or as a source of inspiration to reinvent the bike.
With “BIKE ART – bicycles in art around the world”, author Kiriakos Iosifidis welcomes you to a panorama of all kinds of works that are inspired by the bicycle.
It is a collection of colourful bicycle graffiti, paintings, remarkable bicycle designs, complex constructions, and various types of bicycles one can find on the streets
around the world. More than 250 international artists, illustrators, painters, sculptors, industrial designers, photographers, and organizations present their works of art and give us insight into their personal views and relations to these charming two-wheeled vehicles.
BIKE ART includes artists like: JANET BIKE GIRL, ETOE, JEFF PARR, KEVIN NIERMAN, KO MASUDA, MWM, PETER J. KUDLATA, TALIAH LEMPERT, ADAM TURMAN, ALAIN DELORME, ANDY SINGER, ILOVEDUST, KEN AVIDOR, MADS BERG, MIKE GIANT, MONA CARON, JANET BIKEGIRL, PAT PERRY, WILL MANVILLE, CARO, DAVID GERSTEIN, DZINE, MARK GRIEVE & ILANA
SPECTOR, OLEK, IGOR RAVBAR, KEVIN CYR, DUANE FLATMO, SEX / EL NINO DE LAS PINTURA, STINKFISH, SWOON, TIKA and many more.
Besides, bike types like “AZOR”, “ECO // 7“, “HMK 561”, “LOCUST”, “NULLA”, “SPLIDERBIKE” etc. are introduced.
Author Kiriakos Iosifidis is organizer of the Greek “Carpe Diem” mural-team and author of the “MURAL ART” book series. This time he managed to unite artists
and people of different disciplines who all share one passion: bikes! BIKE ART is an effort to support the bicycle as a means of transportation, a statement of sustainability, as well as to celebrate it as a lifestyle that exists throughout society and across borders.
Happy Ride!
Enjoy !

Mornington Regional Gallery
Victoria
The Overwintering Project is a long-term environmental art project that unites artists around Australia to raise awareness for our most endangered group of birds, migratory shorebirds, and their habitat. Migratory shorebirds spend the summer on our beaches, then fly annually to the arctic to breed, a round trip of over 25,000 km.
The Overwintering Project: Westernport focusses on Western Port as an internationally significant migratory shorebird habitat. The exhibition features 17 artists who have produced new work in a variety of media inspired by the local Western Port environment. These will be shown in conjunction with the Overwintering Project Print Portfolio, a growing collection of 300+ original prints made by artists from Australia and New Zealand in response to the unique nature of their local migratory shorebird habitat.
The Tampa Bay Theatre Festival (TBTF), organized by the 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company RL Stage Inc., will launch in Summer 2014. The mission is to unite artists and theatre lovers within and beyond the Tampa Bay Area for an amazing weekend of education and entertainment. Attendees will experience powerful, informative workshops led by trained professionals, in addition to scene, monologue, and short play competitions, and theatrical entertainment that will leave audiences with a memorable experience.

2.2 Millions views on Flickr? I originally started posting photos as a way to express myself when I wasnt drawing, sewing,or DIY creating any other way. There was and is no price tag for my sanity, and creating keeps me sane. Ive always had a problem with giving my creativity away in the hopes that it would inspire people as a means of self expression, & to find their own creative style, instead people take the lazy route: copy&paste.
It was therapeutic for me, Ive ranted on this subject many times, so when I found Flickr, I thought I found a niche site with other introvert creatives who simply wanted to share their work, & photos...like everything else that starts seemingly innocent on the internet, it has turned to SHIT.
Holding a person's photography stream RANSOM seems like a shitty thing to do if the intent of your site is to supposedly unite artists and photographers on an online platform ...instead this site is more like a marketing scheme focused on delivering 'Inspiration' and/or prefabricated styles & filter presets for bigger , more well known photographers, i..e. extracting the exact way, I
And any other photographer edits their photos via EXIF and then Copying it verbatim and claiming it as their creation. Flickr gives the uploader the option to hide your data to other viewers, but what about the employees(, most of which are photographers & software developers themselves) accessing/stealing and then packaging your process as a ready-made & ready to purchase filter on multiple online platforms?, Last I checked, that is PLAGIARISM/theft, friggin rename Flickr to FraudArtistr...and truthfully promote it as the platform site it was probably originally intended : for plagiarists, fraud-artists, and people who are ok with riding on the coat tails of someone else's creativity.
This doesnt make me want to purchase a Pro Account, it makes me wonder how many other people are pissed after they uploaded to Flickr when there was 1 terbyte of free memory, only to have those photos then withheld with the threat of deletion (permanently) if you dont buy a pro membership...#IDontTurnABlindEye #FlickrYouSuckBalls 🙆♀️ Yes, I ALWAYS feel better after a rant.

“WEST COAST FEST”
West Coast Hip-Hop Icons and Fastest Rising Newcomers Unite in Los Angeles for a Live Celebration
LOS ANGELES, CA (March 19, 2013) – Diehard West Coast Hip-Hop fans will undoubtedly witness history at “West Coast Fest,” an inaugural musical event meshing the game’s most influential icons and hottest newcomers including headliners DJ Quik and E-40, joined by Too $hort, Warren G, Mack 10, Baby Bash, Clyde Carson, Problem and Skeme, with many surprise appearances. Hosted by Big Boy, Power 106 FM’s morning show celebrity voice, the first event of its kind will seamlessly bridge the gap between Northern and Southern California’s major West Coast superstars, with an evening of live performances of the biggest hit songs to come from the West. The highly-anticipated show will take place Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Club Nokia located at 800 West Olympic Boulevard in Los Angeles.
“We want to give Los Angeles an amazing package with all of these influential artists in one night. I’m excited. I’ve been booking West Coast artists all around the world for a decade now, and it’s a great feeling to be able to have these artists I’ve grown up listening to, all perform under one roof,” explains Jamie Adler, West Coast Fest’s Executive Producer. In late 2012, Adler set the wheels in motion for this inaugural event citing a lack of shows with the purpose of uniting artists who have impacted the rap game for years with those making a new waves in the industry.
“These newcomers they deserve a shot to make it, so to have them perform with us shows us we didn’t waste our team making history with original West Coast Hip-Hop. We’re not trying to conform – we want to stay original and iconic. This will be a first to do this with all of these superstars in one show,” notes headliner DJ Quik, who will perform a one-man show. The influential artist plans to unveil new material including a new record titled “Burnin Up” featuring Mack 10.
Bay Area Ambassador and Hip-Hop trailblazer E-40 promises a unique show for West Cost fans: “You’re gonna to get a bit of vintage of E-40 and a little bit of current E-40 and I’m gonna mix that thang up like gumbo; hello hello,” says E-40.

DJ QUIK, E-40, TOO $HORT, WARREN G, MACK 10, BABY BASH, CLYDE CARSON, PROBLEM & SKEME SET TO MAKE HISTORY AT SOCAL’S

Tonight's #Mobileartistry submission is from Luna aka @savagemoon, here's what Luna has to say about her process... Mobile photography restored an early passion of my life to the palm of my hand: camera, film and darkroom all in a tidy, portable package. It provides the added benefit of uniting artists to stimulate, critique and support one another. Self portraiture has become a way to process and express a variety of emotions, dreams, ideas and moods for me. This image was shot using a Joby tripod and #Hipstamatic tripod mount case. I use #Phototimer with the voice-operated option to trigger the shutter release. The editing was done in successive layers in #Noir and then finished in #Snapseed for vignetting, cropping and export to Instagram.
