Developed in Moersch SE2 Warm 1+20, fixed in Fomafix 1+4 and toned in Se 1+4, 30 sec.

The closest we will ever get to a new Forte Polywarmtone Paper, I'm pretty sure now (as nothing has happened on the paper front for several years). Thanks Adox for bringing us the emulsion, anyways!

Spring is coming, this year too...

Sometimes I make unnecessary extra work for myself , as has been the case today and yesterday.

I thought I would force myself to have another go at conquering Layers in my PSP. Looked at videos first, but got fed up having to stop and start to make notes every couple of seconds.

Decided it would be easier to find written tutorial to print out , but that was no good either. I always find when following instructions that my screen layouts, lists and icons never seem to exactly match theirs and I'm left floundering and frustrated [ I thought I was doing this for relaxation and fun]....

Gave up on that and decided it might be easier to use a texture overlay , or underlay. So I took some shots of my own 'bokeh' effects plus several separate shots of a mini cup [ Just over 1" tall]

and saucer to amalgamate.

Well, I got myself in the same sort of mess with that too, so I abandoned ship .

Talk about fed up! What I need is a real person showing me what to do .... but alas that is highly unlikely ever to happen. [No suggestions about joining a camera club, classes etc please]

I've decided it's easier for me to do as much as I can with the actual camera after all - and it was much more relaxing and fun too. I'd rather fiddle around with f numbers, depth of field, lighting etc ...

But I keep seeing the lovely work that other photographers post here and oh how I hanker after doing more creative stuff with Layers and Textures. Ha ha - the grass is always greener I s'pose!

Heathcote Meir has stood the test of time it has been part of the Hamlet of Heathcote from at least the 16th Century,It is fed from under ground springs and there is no history of it ever totally drying up,Its original use was the only water supply to the Hamlet and the local farmers brought their Livestock there to drink,The Meir lies on Limestone Bedrock that has an underlay of Volcanic rock that keeps it water tight.

Fresh snow and trees after two days of heavy snowing.

A snowshoe hike in a bear forest. Well, it's winter so the brown bears are in hibernation. They also avoid people which I got see myself few years back. Although it was a Very long minute waiting for the mother bear and her cubs to move aside (I couldn't, as it was too narrow track to turn my motorcycle around).

Tamron 28-200 is sharp at F/8, but I softened this photo a bit in "black mist filter style".

BTW, you can get the black mist effect in PS by duplicating the background layer, blurring it and conditional blending it only where the underlaying layer is bright. This way shadow areas stay sharp and black, only bright areas get that soft "mist" glow.

This photo was taken with a 50 mm f1.8 lens and a set of intermediate rings. I used a tablet as an underlay in the afternoon sunshine. Found the spider on the balcony, he was very cooperative. The photo was edited with darktable and gimp.

Despite the ravages of age, the frescoes on the ceiling of the Rock Church at Sumela Monastery, Turkey, are still beautiful. The Rock Church is built into a rocky cave at the ancient monastery and the frescoes, with their biblical motifs, date back to the 18th C. Since layers of frescoes are from three different time periods, older frescoes underlay the ones that are currently visible, making restoration very difficult.

We all knew that if I acquired Covid 19 in combination with my underlaying Alpha-1 things could get a little tricky. I came back from Jersey on the Thursday, felt a little grotty on the Friday, ill on Saturday, tested positive on the Sunday and into hospial on the Monday and I have been here ever since! I was started on Dexamethasone and Paxlovid and had to be supported with oxygen. This morning, a bit like the parting of the Red Sea, my fever is down, headache has gone more importantly no breathlessness at rest so got out of bed and hopefully on a mends although Covid can throw swerve balls when you think you are getting better. Unfortunately at home my eldest, Abigail is also unwell and testing positive as well as Melanie who tested positive on Thursday night. All this and we have been vaccinated and boostered, just shows you that Covid is still out their and must not be taken for granted....

I am now waiting for a double negative Covid test and the all clear to get home but this may depend on Melanie and Abigail's status first, needing to be double negative before I am discharged, then the long hall of getting better and stronger over the next couple of months and hopefully no "Long Covid"

I have my laptop so in the meantime I shall continue to upload some photos when I feel up to it, still got all the Jersey photos to post, got to stop the brain fog and boredom somehow, must be getting better!

The architecture of Dorte Mandrup grows from the immense and flat landscape, where humans look like miniatures. An existing building is converted to the new center of the Waddensea. Reeds are used on facade, roof and underlay, and lists of robinia-wood make the already existing building melt seamlessly together with the new building - the result is a structure, that almost seems to grow from the ground - gently and adapted to the flat marshland.

my shallow wildlife pond - first shelf 20cm, second shelf 40 cm and the small hole at the centre is 70cm. The pond is 5m diameter

I am intending this to be (eventually) >70% weed covered (native, collected locally - with emphasis on lots of emergent plants - but i do intend to buy a non native water lily too)

Aim is to attract/host damselflies & dragonflies, newts and frogs.

Excited to have the hole dug - now waiting for the liners (geotextile underlay and butyl rubber liner to be delivered.

Bracketing two stops under for the cloud and 1.5 stops over for the trees which were dropped as an underlay and revealed with buff. I took several sets and varied the ISO and ended with a cloud from a late higher ISO - thus the difference of grain. Work in progress. There is a sort of soft volcano effect that I wanted to record.
