Its not a great photo because it was almost pitch black when I took this but what an amazing way to sit on a nest, it looks so uncomfortably.
** I'm not intimidating, you're intimidated.
There's a difference. I'm not mean, nor aggressive,
I Am honest and assertive and that makes you
uncomfortable. And It's not ME that makes you
uncomfortable, My PRESENCE challenges your comfort.
I will not be less for you to feel better about yourself.**

A territorial male Red-winged Blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus) taking exception to this Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator) passing through a channel in the Grindstone Marsh. The swan was busy foraging with it's head underwater when the blackbird decided it was time to make the attack. Seen in the Hendrie Valley Sanctuary, Royal Botanical Gardens, Burlington, Ontario.

After some time of exloring the surroundings of the Ponta da Piedade, I finally have decided for a spot, where I am going to wait for the sunrise. I am willing to admit that I felt a bit uncomfortable so close to the edge. But less because of me and more because of my camera.
Suddenly she is there, the sun and the rocks are showing me their red colour the first time.
From now on its starting to become more busy, because now its all about capturing all the motives I already found on my way back to the lighthouse, before the sun is getting to high and the light is loosing the warmth.

In this uncomfortable weather, it is time to check the hard drives and create new backups.
In doing so, I always come across old pictures, which in my opinion are worth being shown.
Sadly, this old willow has not existed for some years, since it became the victim of a storm.
The picture was taken on a cold December day, as I think at the right time ;-)
Thanks for visiting!

An early foggy morning and the swans are arriving to graze in the corn stubble. They will remain here all day unless the weather becomes to uncomfortable and then they will move to another field.

After an uncomfortable night trying to sleep in this hot spell ....the temperature at 1am was 21C...i decided it was the waste of time trying to sleep and grabbed a camera and monopod and took an early walk by the river, i spotted this angler that had gone to sleep in his tent, and in the distance the calls of a cuckoo that had not yet migrated back to Africa from where we have imported this hot weather ...he must feel quite at home here.
This is somewhere between Gillette and Rawlins Wyoming, windy as I traversed from I-90 to I-80, I believe this was south of Casper on WY 220. I've never driven this route before, so a bit of a new adventure that I'll avoid in winter. The load I was hauling was pretty heavy, GVW (gross vehicle weight) just under 80, 000 lbs so the wind wasn't too much of a problem. The strange thing is the disorientating effect the snow had as it moved across the road, it visually felt like I wasn't moving, an optical illusion, I had to look into the distance to avoid the uncomfortable feeling it created. I've run across this at night and it's even worse.
Despite the uncomfortable circumstances it is always a pleasure to enjoy the waking up of nature now in Spring. In previous years I did not notice it in this intensity. Without an overflow of distractions your mind can better be harnessed to focus on simple and precious things. Löhne, Ostwestfalen, Germany
I Observed this Brown Honeyeater mother/father feeding the babies, It was interesting seeing how one of the littles waited calmly for his/her turn. The position to take this image was quite uncomfortable cause they were a bit hidden and camouflaged.

A tram in front of the sunset @ the bridge of Hisingen, Gothenburg Sweden
It took a while to wait for an old model of tram and then get it in the right place within the "frame", without other disturbing traffic before the sunset was gone. But at last I got it. Since comfortable photos already have been taken many times before, photography is all about getting uncomfortable! These are words from the great photographer Brutus Östling! I am not saying its a good photo (thats up to others to decide), iam saying, i had a plan, refused to give up and finally got what I wanted :)
Uncomfortably Numb
If it's ice, it will freeze and choke - it can take your breath, suck your life away
Yet in it's grip lies the seed, frozen, waiting to renew - bless it with your warmth, shine the light, let it grow
- Sorry, just some thoughts -

Years later, I thought this was a large slip, but when Googling the event online, there is no mention. Kohi Reserve slid down the cliff. On the day, there was a lot of activity in the area with clean up, but more on the river mouth and beach. Go figure.
Feeling a bit uncomfortable? Good... Normally I'd place the stones in the lower third of the image; here they are above center, and the ripples in the water, combined with the colour in the lower half are meant to be slightly unsettling to the viewer; to ask the question of what is causing that disturbance just outside the frame.
who oppose it on principle :-)

This water tower, slanted at an uncomfortable angle off the old Route 66, was an ingenious marketing ploy. “During the early and mid 20th century, passersby on the Mother Road were intrigued by the severe tilt of this tower, asking themselves what on earth could have caused it. A crashing plane? An earthquake? A giant tornado?” None of the above! A man named Britten thought up an idea to attract customers to his new truck stop. He had a water tower from another town towed to Groom, Texas. He then had it bulldozed and positioned so that it was at a severe tilt. People came from near and far to see the strange leaning tower and to ask what caused it to be at such a tilt. I asked myself the same question, thinking maybe unstable ground just caused it to lean. Britten’s stunt was very successful, and drew a multitude of sightseers. “Unfortunately, after many years of success, Britten’s truck stop burned down in a devastating fire, closing down all sales. Despite this unfortunate event, the leaning water tower is still one of the most photographed oddities on the way out west.” My photo doesn’t really show the extent of the tilt from this angle, but it was the best I could manage from the car!
On the morning of this day in 2016 I went out exploring the Okavango wetlands. First on a motorized vessel, then in a dug out canoe called a Mokoro. Finally, a wildlife walk on an island in the Delta. This shots shows a German couple in a Mokoro with a guide acting as their pole man.
For those who are interested, an extract from my Journal of that day:
The sound of the electric generator woke me too early this morning. It had been an active night in the camp, hippos grazed right outside my tent, and elephants destroyed some fittings between two tents close to mine.
Owner, my guide and group leader, said he would take us for a boat ride on the lake, followed by a mokoro ride and a wildlife walk.
The boat ride was a passive event, with stops to watch hippos, an elephant, and several birds. It ended at an island where mokoro (dugout canoes) were waiting, each with a pole man, on the shore. Each mokoro carries two passengers, the German and Australian couples each had a mokoro with a pole man, while I had a mokoro to myself.
It wasn't long until I discovered my mokoro was very uncomfortable; it was long, narrow and shallow. James, the pole man, stood in the front and navigated using a long pole that he stuck in the mud to move us forward.
There was a seat in the mokoro but it was not secured to the floor or sides of the vessel. I was told to keep my hands away from the side of the mokoro because crocodiles see them. The seat tipped back as we moved along and I soon found myself almost laying on the floor of the mokoro. There was no hand grip and no way to sit up, When I tried to right the seat, James said I must sit still lest I tip us into the water. Be uncomfortable or do battle with hippos and crocodiles; it was a no brainer.
