Although the main purpose of product packaging to make sure that your product reaches the customer without getting damaged, it is meant to serve the marketing requirement as well. You can watch unboxing videos in which the #packaging of products is removed to give viewers an overview of the product. This very process of #unboxing includes certain points at which the marketing can be done in a smarter way.

Having that said, there are some ways you can package your product in order to make product unboxing a brand promoting process for your brand.

Have knowledge about your brand

It may sound absurd but it is the fact that many people do not know fully about the very brand they own. It means that you should give your brand proper identity by giving it a proper logo of appropriate color. This step may look small but it is big enough to give your brand the direction.

Know your customer

After you have settled the #brand, now you need to apply the brand identity to the product packaging. This application is going to have its influence over the experience your customer is going to have during the unboxing process.

Let’s talk a bit about Amazon’s approach here. An Amazon’s customer expects the unboxing experience quite simple. The product is wrapped in the bubble wrap and then this wrapped item is enclosed in a cardboard box which has a logo of Amazon. This is how Amazon has been working since quite a while but you may not find this approach very helpful in your case because your company is not quite known among the audience you want to target. You will have to create the product packaging that would give you a marketing edge among your customers.

There are several ways you can add designs and messages in the product packaging. If your product is handmade, you can add handwritten message in the package. You can also use the brand’s logo stamp on the message.

Practical considerations

You may have a solid brand and you may have worked quite well on ensuring better customer experience; but if you are ignoring the basic considerations about packaging, you are actually damaging your reputation before even it is built. Therefore, there are a few things that you will have to take into the account.

•Durability of your package is the first thing that you will have to ensure. Your customer is not going to like receiving a damaged package no matter how well designed it is.

•The package of your product should function in accordance with the type of product you are shipping. For instance, if it is a perishable product, you will need to make sure that the product package has all of the necessary elements to protect the contents inside.

•The cost of shipping is another factor that needs to be focused. For this purpose, the product package should be of the size that will allow proper fitting of the product. The weight and size of the product package matter the most when it comes to the calculation of shipping costs.

These are just a few considerations that need to be kept in mind while you prepare a product package. Remember, without proper packaging, which also includes the marketing factor; you are not going to get the desirable results.
