The biggest surprise of the evening was the Macbook (which I have photographed really poorly). I've been wanting one for a good while now and finally started to save up for it late this summer, but my family all pitched in to get it for me!
Which is just, like, insane.
And so nice.
And yeah.
I went along for the ride to Meadow Lakes Golf Course, near Whitehorse (the Yukon's capital), to watch the hubby and his buddies play Yukon golf.
We drove 60 degrees north from Skagway for more than an hour. It was well worth the drive which in itself was absolutely gorgeous.
This tee has a 150 foot vertical drop and is about 150 yards out to the green... the men actually did a fair job and got close to the green and no one lost a ball!

This will sound like a giant pack of lies, but this has just happened RIGHT OUTSIDE MY WINDOW.
I heard a loud bang, but assumed the wheely bin had blown over or something. Once I'd finished faffing about uploading onto here I took a look.. to see.. this... Gulp.
The dazed bloke turned out to be the driver. Only person in the car, not a scratch. His car wasn't going fast, but clipped and mounted a parked car, executing a perfect barrel roll, before settling on its roof.
As I walked along the shore of the mostly-frozen lake in the morning hours, the temperature struggled to reach 20 degrees. Photographing interesting and unusually beautiful ice formations along the banks, I was stopped by the sight of a great blue heron scarcely two paces in front of me. I attempted to quiet my heart and tried not to breathe as I raised my camera and clicked off a few pictures. As I took a few close-ups, my breath fogged up the viewfinder. I realized however, that there was something wrong with this picture.
