I set out to do a macro stack, and took more than 10 shots with varying focus, However, I didn't succeed with the blending, and ended up with blurry spots every time. So I gave up. This is the best of the individual shots, and I wasn't sure if I was going to post anything at all. But it'd be a shame struggling so long with this with nothing to show for it.
The shot was made with a reversed 50mm f/1.4 attached to a 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 (giving a magnification of 6:1), an external flash, and a slightly dazed bumblebee (I chilled it in the fridge, and it flew away happily afterwards).
Taken with a Samsung S22 Ultra. phone camera using the telephoto lens.
Not the best Ariel photo but what I thought was not possible was that the phone recorded the GPS position whilst in 'Flight Mode', which we were permitted to switch to.
I was not even connected to the QANTAS in flight WIFI.
This was about 20 km SSE of the Township of Finke in the Northern Territory, at an altitude of about 10,600 metres.
I guess in flight mode no signals are sent out by the phone but signals coming in (GPS signals) can be recorded ??
I'm not sure how acurate these GPS signals were but they seem to correspond to what I saw and what is on Google Earth with this and other photos that I took.

Ultra wide shot at 11 mm. Used new Wonderpana XL filter system with large 3 stop ND grad. These are massive rectangular filters but amazing to be able to filter such as wide angle lens. It works, although not as easy to use as a standard 100 mm Lee system for example.
I've always had a liking for the Ultra body, I thought it was modern in its day and stylish too. Perhaps the bodysides have dated but the front still looks acceptable in 2016...reminds me in some ways of the later Ikarus designs. They are rare as hens teeth nowadays though and restricted to closed contracts hidden well away from view. One of the few survivors is 286 in the Tanet Valley fleet which was originally 97-D-59004 ex Dublin Bus VL4 acquired via Mc Colls Dumbarton. It is pictured near Abermule, a village lying on the River Severn 4 miles northeast of Newtown in Powys, mid Wales. An unassuming, quiet place but one which has dragged me back over the years initially for Leylands with Crosville then Tigers or Lynx`s with Midland Red North and Arriva, the area and the outstation here, one of their last haunts.
