On a beautifully sunny snow covered start to the new year 31439 leaves Cowburn Tunnel and passes Edale Signal Box with it's eastbound train on January 3rd 1986.
Due to a set of extremely lucky and highly unlikely circumstances Black5 44871 makes a second pass over Loch Nan Uamh viaduct in full sun on October 25th 2021.
After experiencing adhesion problems climbing the bank 44871 crossed the viaduct the first time later than planned but just in time to coincide with a lovely blue hole after the clouds and driving rain. After it's first pass over the viaduct 44871 again experienced adhesion problems and set back over the viaduct and out of sight. After restarting this was the scene on that second and more successful pass.

The second leg of Jeremy Hosking's private Easter jolly saw D213/40013 'Andania' head for Llandudno on 1Z22 from the Severn Valley Railway.
Frank Richards will tell you he did a little sun dance to ensure the gallery at Long Lane got this in sunshine, but the reality is we would have been bowled by clouds had Mr Hosking's pit stop for more champagne at Crewe not been delayed in leaving be a couple of minutes...
West Coast Railways' 37706 heads through Keckwick/Daresbury on 1Z53, the return of the Dalesman railtour from Carlisle to Chester. 47746 'Chris Fudge 29.7.70 - 22.6.10' brought up the rear.

With the cooling towers of Ratcliffe Power Station chugging away in the background, GBRf's 66719 'Metro-Land' prepares to exit the branch out of East Midlands Gateway with 4F62 to Seaforth Container Terminal. With 4F62's departure, and after a 45 minute wait, 66505 could then enter the complex with 4L91, the back end of which can be seen in shot.
A nice day out to the East Midlands, which made a mockery of 'Blue Monday', weather-wise at least!
