An exhibit briefly present in the main courtyard at UCL of a 'rainwater capacitor', the idea being that it stores rainwater and gradually releases it, alleviating water shortages in the drought-wracked gardens of the south east. However i) they mean an RC network, not just a capacitor and ii) after record-breaking amounts of June rain, it was still mostly empty. So much for architecture students.

The London Data Table was compiled by Steven Gray and George MacKerron, it displayed live aircraft data, cycle hire data, public transport flows and Oyster card usage throughout London..

Researchers at the UCL Centre for Advanced Biomedical Imaging (CABI) have embarked on a rather unique ‘Easter egg hunt’ and have been scanning chicken eggs for a new Channel 4 programme: Easter Eggs Live.

CABI scientists have used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to peer beneath the shell of a developing chicken egg to visualise the growth and position of the chick as it prepares to hatch.

This video uses the MRI images and animation by Equinox Graphics Ltd to depict a chick’s movements just before hatching. The chick ruptures the air sac and breathes for the first time before the hatching process begins.

This work was carried out in partnership with Jamie Lochhead and Kelly Neaves at Windfall Films and Jon Heras at Equinox Graphics Ltd.

Tr(ee)logy is a series of temporary installations 'planted' in one or more sites across the city during the London 2012 Olympics, to rediscover and share London's invisible heritage of secrets, strange tales and forgotten stories. This is a city with an extraordinarily rich source of secrets and strange tales dating back centuries – sometimes the stories seem to vanish only to be rediscovered.

Tr(ee)logy has been designed by CJ Lim ( of The Bartlett School of Architecture + Studio 8 Architects Ltd) and Matthew Wells (Techniker Ltd) with Samson Lau, Krzysztof Marcinkiewicz, Steven McCloy, Savan Patel, John Yu Wei Chang, Eric Wong, and Martin Tang, as well as Colin Hayward (KMCS London). It has been commissioned by the Mayor of London as part of the ‘WONDER’ series of Incredible Installations. You can see it at South Kensinton Tube Station as part of the capital’s city-wide celebration during the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics.
