On 16-18 August 2022, ArtRwanda-Ubuhanzi launches its Eastern Provincial Auditions in Kayonza.

On 16-18 August 2022, ArtRwanda-Ubuhanzi launches its Eastern Provincial Auditions in Kayonza.

This week, our #ArtRwanda - #Ubuhanzi finalists from the 1st edition, started a 3 week intensive training, facilitated by @DOTRwanda. The training is part of the Incubation component of the project, which aims at empowering artists with entrepreneurship skills.

 

Through Imbuto Foundation and the Ministry of Youth and Culture partnerships, the artists will be trained by industry experts, gain from internships and apprenticeship; and also acquire business/entrepreneurship related trainings in #Rwanda or abroad, for education and capacity building.

 

#ArtRwanda - #Ubuhanzi artists will also be linked to mentors from the industry, as well as professionals in the art & business community to discuss various topics such industry standards, legal related topics, marketing, trade mark, intellectual property, among many.

On 13 and 14 October 2018, ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi hosted 587 contestants to a pre - selection phase, at Cenetra Hotel, in Kigali.

 

The pre-selection phase was attended by all contestants, who got passess from the road trips auditions who displayed their talents to different panels of judges, grouped per category and field of expertise. The following art categories were considered: Plastic Arts, Dance and Music, Fashion, Acting and Drama, Cinematography and Photography, and Literature.

 

From the 587 who auditioned, 70 contestants representing all the categories, were selected to continue to the next phase which is the boot camp. Each category, was represented by the first 10 best contestants, with an exception for the Dance and Music category, which had 20 representatives, as it was the category that had more contestants than all the others (half of the total number of contestants who auditioned).

On 27 April 2021, we received Flemming Moller Mortensen, Minister for Development Cooperation and Mattias Tesfaye, Minister for Immigration & Integration of Denmark, with Fode Ndiaye, the UN Rwanda Resident Coordinator, Gomera Maxwell of UNDP Rwanda for a visit at the Incubation center and shop.

Kayonza auditions were attended by 393 contestants, who displayed their talents to a panel of judges, in the following categories: Plastic Arts, Dance and Music, Fashion, Acting and Drama, Cinematography and Photography, and Litterature.

 

The panel of judges was composed by: Mr Daniel Semivumbi - Singer, Mrs Sandrine Isheja Butera - Radio host, Mr Eric Kabera - Filmmaker and Film Director, Mr Kennedy Mazimpaka - Actor and Film Director and Mr Jean Marie Vianney Kabakera - Artist in Plastic Arts.

On 15 December 2018, Her Excellency Mrs Jeannette Kagame joined ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi 2018 youth forum series and Grand Finale, which took place at Kigali Convention Centre.

 

Allowing exchanges between artists and stakeholders from the public and private spheres, on investing in creative arts industry, the forum was combined with projects pitching, individual performances and an exhibition, by all ArtRwanda – Ubuhanzi contestants, who participated in the bootcamp.

The project aims at identifying and supporting young and talented Rwandans within the creative arts industry. The project was officially launched on 24 August 2018. 2400 Youth participated in road trips auditions, which took place in four Provinces of Rwanda, as well as the City of Kigali. At province level a panel of judges were able to select 587 talented Youth, at national level, 70 most talented youth contestants were selected and participated in a seven-days bootcamp.

 

During the bootcamp, 70 Artists were equipped with business and entrepreneurship skills to transform their talent into sustainable employment opportunities, and enriching their talents. Experts in the Creative Arts Industry facilitated trainings.

 

The best 6 contestants per category received a prize of 1,000,000 Rwanda Francs for each and the best 3 groups' projects received a prize of 10,000,000 Rwanda Francs. The selected artists will continue to be coached, mentored and trained during the Incubation period.

From the 587 who auditioned, 70 contestants representing all the categories, were selected to continue to the next phase which is the boot camp. Each category, was represented by the first 10 best contestants, with an exception for the Dance and Music category, which had 20 representatives, as it was the category that had more contestants than all the others (half of the total number of contestants who auditioned).

ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi Second Edition Youth Forum and Grand Finale | Kigali, 25 November 2022

On 13 and 14 October 2018, ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi hosted 587 contestants to a pre - selection phase, at Cenetra Hotel, in Kigali.

 

The pre-selection phase was attended by all contestants, who got passess from the road trips auditions who displayed their talents to different panels of judges, grouped per category and field of expertise. The following art categories were considered: Plastic Arts, Dance and Music, Fashion, Acting and Drama, Cinematography and Photography, and Literature.
