Typical tarsier habitat. You can now appreciate the spotting difficulties I mentioned so many times earlier. Incidentally, while on the subject, let me clear the air: The tarsier is not found only in the Philippines. The Phil Tarsier is a species of tarsier that is endemic to the Philippines. Other tarsier species can be found in Indonesia, Malaysian Borneo etc. Also, this is a tarsier sanctuary. There is one more elsewhere in Bohol, set up after the government banned captive tarsiers kept in wooden boxes. There is, in addition, a sprinkling of wild tarsiers in the Bohol countryside, and I saw at least two 'Tarsier Spotting Area' signs. Now seeing how difficult it is to spot tarsiers even with a guide, inside a sanctuary, whether anyone will be able to successfully spot wild tarsiers in the jungle is another matter altogether!
