A huge, HUGE thank you to every one who came out, helped, or just offered encouragement. We couldn't have done it without you. ♥
...Shakin' That...
I like this one. It's kinda quirky in that even though we know they are dancing the only indication are the airbourne tassles.

I experimented with framing tonight. I must've been a bit bored with watching the Rams and Seahawks, lol!
This is an engagement image I took of my niece and her 'at the time' fiance. I'm happy to report they are keeping their knot tied up tight!
A Japanese gentleman making his nervous but assured strides towards the the gates of the Meiji Shrine to finally exchange vows with here equally nervous but more excited bride.

I LOVED doing this cake. The bride was having a rockabilly theme and said she had envisioned swallows and anchors scattered on a white cake or something like it.
But she wanted me to come up with something unique and different. I drew up a design which she loved and created it as seen above. (I will scan the design in too)
This cakes is so bright and colourful it was great fun to make. The swallows, stars and anchors are handpainted edible images.
The heart topper was carved from polystyrene and covered in modelling paste complete with handpainted edible wings and ribbon. I made it so that they could remove the topper and have it as a keepsake.
Michael and Kate recently got married and it was a joy to photograph. All very relaxed and the day went very well. This photo was taken in the hotel before the ceremony and the backlighting here was perfect.

The happy couple let loose exiting the church just after getting hitched.
This was a spontaneous moment, (to me anyway!), and luckily I had my camera at the ready.
I posted a similar shot to this earlier in the sequence, but I think this is better.

If you know anybody planning on getting hitched, Paul O' Connell and me are open for business at Tying the Knot. If you can spread the word it would be much appreciated.
Check out my Weddings set.
Friends of mine tied the knot recently. I love this one because it was spontaneous and not posed.

Patrick and I got engaged right before Christmas! What a happy surprise :)
After it all went down we had to get everything ready for our Michigan trip. I met his family for the first time and we all got along really well. It was a very joyful holiday, indeed!
I took this photo with the idea of the Red String of Fate in mind.
I decided to make a quick, cheap 'save the date' cards with the theme of tying the knot
Pretty Basic: the center string has a heart paperclip to help hold the perferated calender to what ever you want. On the back of the card has the following instructions:
Remove calender at perforation. Use heart paperclip to attach calender to datebook. dog collar, sun visor, microwave or religious leader. And remember, request the weeknd of May 2nd off. REQUEST IT!!
"Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead."
~ Oscar Wilde... for Macro Monday theme.
Symbolism: Blue thread as He; Red thread as She; Tying the knot as Marriage. The wine bottle is a universal metaphor for celebration.

Robert and Natasha were such a gentle, warm and lovely couple. It was very obvious that they really loved each other and that they wanted to let the whole world know. Many, I mean a whole army of folks, showed up to witness them tying the knot. After the ceremony, they were re-joined at the steps by the bridesmaids and groomsmen who I could tell truly adored the newlywed. I felt truly lucky to be part of their happiest day even for a few hours.
My first âsecond shooterâ gig for a wedding was for Merry and Will in Victorville. This lovely couple tied the knot at their church, and a lot of folks showed up and filled the house of God. I thoroughly enjoyed the rush while covering the ceremony as it was unfolding as well as their reception. Wish all the best to this newlywed.
the Bride and the Groom on their special day
Another one of the most beautiful weddings I have attended. The ceremony was held outside at The InterContinental The Clement Monterey overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean. In spite of the fact it rained during the ceremony it was still one of the most beautiful ceremonies I have witnessed. The reception was the BEST!!!!. Blessings to the Adeoye’s on their union. So thankful I was able to attend and enjoy the celebration.
Vivāha (Sanskrit) or Vivaah (Hindi: विवाह) is a word for marriage in South Asia. The word is also used to describe a marriage as per Vedic traditions. Under Vedic Hindu traditions marriage is viewed as one of the saṁskāras (sacraments), which is a lifelong commitment of one wife and one husband. In India marriage has been looked upon as having been made in heaven and considered as a ‘’divine knot sanctified by fire‘’. Hindu families are patrilocal.
The Hindu wedding ceremony may vary in minor details from region to region and different priests may adopt some variations.~~Wikipedia

As you may have noticed I have not been posting many photos recently, and this is the reason why, we have been planning our wedding and we finally managed to get there on Wed 25th January.
Both Josie and I want to thank everyone that came to the wedding and reception and made it a really special day.
This shot was taken by my son Mathew and I thank him for the rest of the wonderful photos too.

Now that's the look of a man who really loves a woman. This is a shot I took at my sister's wedding.

Money Dance
Definition of "spraying money". About halfway through the reception ceremony, it is not uncommon for the bride and groom to change into a matching traditional outfits and they are danced back into the reception venue by the brides friends (her friends act as an entourage for the couple). Then what we know as a money dance begins. In the African culture this is known as “spraying money”. "Spraying money" is the act of placing paper money on the forehead or over the head of a woman or a man or a couple on special occasions such as their wedding or birthday. This cultural practice symbolizes showering the person or the couple with good fortune.
