It was evening and, in the dappled light, I saw these two spot-billed pelicans (pelecanus philippensis) far out in a lake, in Bundala National Park, Sri Lanka. They had obviously found a sandbank or rocky area in very shallow water and were standing companionably side by side. I knew I had these two but finding them was a whole other matter.

Happy Macro Mondays
From a walk in the area at Stubbergaard Lake and monestary near Vinderuo, Denmark - April 30, 2021.
This is from a walk on the "bog path" - a 1.7 km boardwalk through the swampy area at the northern end of the lake.
Parrots are my theme for today, and Rainbow Lorikeets in particular. There are four food dishes in my garden along with two servings of fruit. Not all the birds who come to my garden eat from the food dishes, some come the backdoor, announce themselves and come inside to be fed.
I put apples in spikes, hey are popular, but they tend to be monopolised by some individuals who will not share. There is a pair of alpha Lorikeets who dominate the entire flock. Here the alpha couple guard an apple which they have for themself.
I was annoyed to see that a number of car tyres had been thrown into Skeleton Creek. These two Grey Teals were making good use of this one to have a rest.
A Sandhill Crane pair look alert in Police Outpost Provincial Park, Alberta, which is very close to the USA border and lies in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. The smaller bird on the left was apparently a female.
