I am a cynic (more often pleasantly surprised than optimists), and a skeptic (SHOW ME!).

When an acquaintance told me she had dined on "Chicken Fried Bacon" -- in Seattle -- I had doubts. Many of my new Seattle friends are vegetarians -- even vegan (thank goodness for their sake barley and hops are "vegetables") -- so a fatty piece of pork, doused in chicken batter and deep fried seemed an unlikely dish for the likes of the Emerald City -- particularly on Capitol Hill.
