Let me know what you think!
Once I have my rough shapes, I want to start refining. I pick a middle color. This is the true color of an object unaffected by lighting or shadows. Some call it the "local color".
Here I've settled on the yellow for my daffodil. Now I'm bringing it into a recognizable shape with a lighter yellow highlight. I will do this with every shape I've made, creating highlights and depth. Don't worry about shadows yet beyond knowing where you are going to put them. My chosen light sources are from above and the left hand side.

to save the template, go to the "actions" tab above the photo. scroll down and click on "view all sizes". click on "original" size over on the right side of the screen, and then either right click and "save as" or click on "download original size".
if, when you try to print the image, your printer will only print it as a typical photo size (ie, 4x6), open up a document in microsoft word and insert the image there. then you can print the word file and the image will be the correct size.
Extend each side of the paper outward, and start separating the layers. Fluff and arrange the petals as you see fit - you can make it messy or manicured.

Back to basics! I put together a tutorial demonstrating how to construct the perfect sash, from a woven, stable fabric.
