Please join me on the blog today as I make up a simple, weighted blanket - commonly used for people with sensory disorders, those on the autism spectrum, and to help treat anxiety conditions.
This version is made in flannel and bound with a 1/4" double-fold binding. It weighs 4 pounds, with 6" channels, and measures approximately 39" by 51".
Check out the tutorial here and let me know what you think!

I will do better next time. My goal today was to run through the tutorial and make sure the steps "made sense". Alice, it was my pleasure, great job!!
Where you cut a tiny piece. Careful!!! Only a little bit at a time. If you cut too much two sets of eyes will show at the same time.
This is some sort of tutorial on how I do my brick wall backgrounds. Though scrapbooking papers can give you a very realistic and easy brick background, sometimes I love to make a "real" wall with texture and color.
The wall is made out of styrofoam, the window is made of foamboard.
Every now and then, I paint a brick with a brighter shade, like with more red or more ochre. I love it when you get the idea of having individuals among the bricks, so pick a favorite brick and make it stand out a bit more.
Exifer tutorial part 2 of 6: Dates.
The EXIF "Date taken" field is what Flickr uses for its "Taken on" field. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think the IPTC Date/time field works with Flickr. I always try to keep my photos stamped on CST time zone since I live in Tennessee. Even if I'm in France, I won't change my camera's clock. Changing the time can be problematic, as evidenced by this FlickrCentral discussion.
Please make general comments on the main set page. Specific comments can be added to each picture, as well.

We’ve been so excited about the Stepp:rs that we’ve never really given a tutorial about the main part of the CNTRL:R Live script.
This video demonstrates, in a dry-but-clear manner, the CNTRL:R in Ableton Live, using the Livid remote script available...

This is a quick tutorial on how to make the stick birdies you can see on my page titled “Simple The Best”.
Keep in mind that you can use other shapes to make these with, like circles, stars, hearts, like so.
Any template or shape should work. You can also find the bird templates in the freebies section of my Flickr pages. However any bird template should work if you already have one.
Step One: Cut out the bird templates.
Step Two: Find the desired papers you wish to use. Scraps are great for this and usually the perfect size.
Step Three: Use a removable/temporary glue to stick the template over the paper.
Step Four: Carefully tear around the edges, keeping the shape of the bird template. When you are satisfied with the results, remove the template from the patterned paper.
Step Five: If you have a paper distresser, use it to distress the edges a bit. If you don’t have an edge distresser, then just use your finger nail or the pop stick to rub and push around the edges. You may also want to lightly push the edges forward to get the exact look I achieved with mine.
Step Six: Take an ink pad and rub it gently across the edges you distressed.
Step Seven: Glue permanently onto the sticks. Note: I did not want my sticks all the same size, so I broke part of the tops off before attaching the birds.
Step Eight: Add stickers or other décor until you get your desired look.
Have fun creating!
