We are traveling and now in Colorado spending time with our daughter and her family. I've been in & out of flickr and apologize for having trouble keeping up, but I do want to wish you all a very Happy New Year filled with wonderful new adventures! Thank you so much for your visits, kind comments, and continued support dear friends - you are what makes flickr so very special! ♥︎
Originally by Bob Seger but given a new angsty angle by James Hetfield and Metallica on their Garage Incorporated cover album (s).
A little convoluted maybe with a guitar pick and miniature JD’s but I had them around as my first attempt was ‘Whiskey in the Jar’.
But your thoughts will soon be wanderin'
The way they always do
When you're ridin' 16 hours
There's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin'
You just wish the trip was through
Here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on the stage
There I go playin' the star again
There I go, turn the page
Later in the evenin'
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers
Ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette
Rememberin' what she said
What she said
For this theme of "Crazy Still Life, There was to be a book, a flower, a candle, and something out of place. For some reason the crabapple blossomed for the Halloween/Day of the Dead so I was able to pick a flower for this shot, one candle, one illumination.
Speaking for artists; those of us on flickr as well as ALL artists, musicians, performers, athletes, etc I feel the lyrics in this Bob Seger song capsulate the frustrations, demands and pressures imposed on artists as their fans become overwhelming at times. Expecting or demanding more, more and more from the artist. Each new piece and performance has to be better, more spectacular – or else the artist or performer does not live up to “their” (the fans) expectations. It becomes exhausting and frankly depressing for the artist/performer. Never quite good enough……. These words in Bob Seger’s lyrics tell a story – a story of weariness and loneliness. Listen to music that none other than the great (but now old and fading into obscurity) Bob Seger sings as he grinds out this somewhat mournful story. He tells a story of which I can relate. Of which, I suspect many of us can relate. The music gradually fades, melting into the fields and hills and valleys until there is no more. No more sound. No more words - just a fading memory of what was. No more recognition – just a distant memory of what was and obscurity.
Frankly I doubt this artwork (which I spent hours and hours putting together) will receive no more than a passing glance………or worse yet, people will immediately be looking for something better, more entertaining from me. Well folks, I’m old and coming to the end of the line. I don’t know how much more……. or better is left in me.
BTW - How many of you know that Bob Seger was (is) a Michigan boy – raised in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Turn The Page
On a long and lonesome highway
East of Omaha
You can listen to the engine
Moanin' out his one note song
You can think about the woman
Or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering
The way they always do
When you're ridin' sixteen hours
And there's nothin' much to do
And you don't feel much like ridin',
You just wish the trip was through
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page
Well you walk into a restaurant,
Strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you
As you're shakin' off the cold
You pretend it doesn't bother you
But you just want to explode
Most times you can't hear 'em talk,
Other times you can
All the same old cliches,
"Is that a woman or a man?"
And you always seem outnumbered,
You don't dare make a stand
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page
Out there in the spotlight
You're a million miles away
Every ounce of energy
You try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body
Like the music that you play
Later in the evening
As you lie awake in bed
With the echoes from the amplifiers
Ringin' in your head
You smoke the day's last cigarette,
Rememberin' what she said
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page
There I go
There I go

* Just for explanation sake, this artwork encompasses 57 different Photoshop Layers, 17 Channels (including the red, green, blue and the RGB composite channel and 13 paths in the Path layers. The composition incorporates 12 different digital photographic elements in composite. Being this was an “on again, off again” project, I would guess that I have about 60-70 hours work in this “thing”. Over the course of 2-3 weeks I turned on – turned off and dimmed, brightened so many lights, I cannot count. Oh, yes – the one light fixture on the Singlefinger Speed Shop is “off” on purpose……….. the light bulb burned out months ago and Elmer Singlefinger never got around to replacing it ;)
So anyway folks:
There I go
Turn the page
Here I am
On the road again
There I am
Up on the stage
Here I go
Playin' star again
There I go
Turn the page
There I go
There I go
………………….. hope ya’all enjoy.

You think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before
But your thoughts will soon be wandering the way they always do
When youre riding sixteen hours and theres nothing much to do

Here I am - on the road again
There I am - up on the stage
Here I go - playing star again
There I go - turn the page
So you walk into this restaurant strung out from the road
And you feel the eyes upon you, as youre shaking off the cold
You pretend it doesnt bother you, but you just want to explode
Yeah, most times you cant hear em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichs, is it woman? is it man?
And you always seem outnumbered, you dont dare make a stand
Make your stand
Here I am - on the road again
There I am - up on the stage
Here I go - playing star again
There I go - turn the page
Oo-ooh, out there in the spotlight, youre a million miles away
Every ounce of energy you try to give away
As the sweat pours out your body like the music that you play, yeah
Later in the evening, you lie awake in bed
With the echoes of the amplifiers ringing in your head
You smoke the days last cigarette, remembering what she said
What she said
He-ey
Yeah
And here I am - on the road again
There I am - up on a stage
Here I go - playing star again
There I go - turn the page
There I go - turn that page
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah, yeah
There I go, yeah
There I go, yeah
There I go, oo-oo-ooh
There I go
And Im gone

So much has happened in 2010, losing my dad was the biggest part! Although I will never forgot him, it comes a time when you have to move forward and hope for the future. We have a fresh start in 2011. For me, it's a time to remember yet continue to turn the page. Love you dad ~ Thomas Jefferson Harvin
Thanks to my good buddy Reggie Pryor for the title.
Well those drifter days are past me now
I've got so much more to think about
Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, whar to leave out
Against the wind
Bom fim de semana pra todos, vou ali e volto...
Beijo de sábado depois de dormir muuuitas horas ;o)***

This is the short story of a peculiar little green amphibian that dreamed of fly/ing.
A frog that decided to take a journey to see what was in/side the fishbowl, what might be out/side of it and, to find that which might be in between.
Now, you can turn the page when you hear the sound of water drops drip drop dripping...
This bench happens to sit on the front porch of the Turn The Page book store in Boonsboro, MD. This book store is owned by Nora Robert's husband and has a whole room devoted to Nora's books. Boonsboro is a quaint little town and definitely has a lot to offer to a photographer.
Life is a book. Each day is a page in this book. Your life, the joy and sadness, recorded till the story ends. Tears fall like rain and Love you can't give it away.

Today was a busy day.
In the morning, I went to an orthopedic doctor about my knee. He confirmed that I have a torn MCL (medial collateral ligament) and is concerned that it is not healing faster. So, to rule out any other possible problems, I will need to have an MRI. Fun, fun.
Later, I went with my wife to pick the kids up at pre-school. The school they go to is amazing and it is always a treat to visit. If you visit their site, make sure to read their philosophy page. If you have boys, make sure to read this article as well.
For the last part of the day, we packed up the car and headed to Novato to be with family and pay our respects to Shannon's Grandma who passed away on Monday. A lot of family came and it was good for them to reminisce and rejoice in her life.
With so much going on, I thought the quote was appropriate. Our attitude and frame of mind make such a huge impact on how we perceive our experiences in life...

[A word of caution: This is part of a deeply emotional and extremely powerful personal struggle that has now lasted over 20 years. For many of you, as well as a legion of loved ones in real life, time is supposed to HEAL. Since that has never been my experience, I'm in the process of learning new coping strategies. You have every right to be frustrated at hearing once again the broken record of a broken man. If you choose to listen and interact anyway, kindly remember that this is a a place where "peaceful waters flow" , i.e, where respect for individuals and individualism is tantamount. And during this struggle, THIS individual is going to INSIST on receiving that respect. So counsel/cajole/support/motivate (even risk a criticism) as you see fit - so long as you never forget what stream you're swimming in.]
And so it begins. The dissolution of a relationship some claim was dead long ago.
The pages yellowed and curled ages ago. In realistic terms, the greatest moment in my life took up less than a tenth of my life (there, I've admitted that very publicly). A January reunion of the old crew may not have included me because I may be a FORGOTTEN member of the old crew. Perhaps small wonder, then, that I wasn't welcomed with open arms when I tried to pick up where I left off two decades ago.
So now we see. We try to figure out what happens if - with some competent help - I try to lick my fingers and
