The first production farm tractor built with a cab. Designed to operate as a tractor and an automobile. The UDFLX was equipped with a 40-mph road gear, the windows could be opened for extra ventilation. Standard equipment included a foot operated clutch, accelerator pedal, emergency and parking brakes, fold down jump seat, rear spotlight, rearview mirror with inset clock, windshield wipers, radio, heater, dash light, defroster, cigarette lighter & ashtray, electric horn, turnkey ignition, push button starter, gas gauge and speedometer.

In 2005, KF Aerospace was awarded the Contracted Flying Training and Support (CFTS) Services contract to support pilot training for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
As the prime contractor of a team of top Canadian aerospace companies (collectively called Allied Wings), KF Aerospace established a turnkey operation at the Southport Airport (near Portage la Prairie, MB) with new facilities, training devices and courseware to satisfy the rigorous training requirements of the RCAF.
While I admittedly have no video to post today (such is the truth of a much-needed visit to my hometown), I do have an image to share that is close to my heart. This year has brought a lot of soul-searching, turning keys to see which will unlock certain parts of myself I never knew existed, and others which I always knew were there yet had never explored.
There are rooms in every person which are kept locked, where we hide secrets even we, who always has the key to the door, has forgotten about. And it is precisely inside those rooms that we find the parts of ourselves that remind us of our place in this world. In those dustiest of attic corners we see, through the oldest cobwebs, the thing which has been hiding all along, deep within. It is the soul of our soul, the piece that cannot be removed, that which makes us whole and that which scares us most. It is our truest self, waiting to be discovered like all the greatest treasures are.
The H-Bahn ("Hängebahn", or "hanging railway") in Dortmund and Düsseldorf is a suspended, driverless passenger suspension railway system. The system was developed by Siemens, who call the project SIPEM (SIemens PEople Mover).
Two installations exist, one at the Dortmund university campus, the other at the Düsseldorf Airport. While Siemens is no longer actively marketing the system, and will no longer carry out turnkey projects, new installations are still possible in collaboration with the Dortmund operating company.
Since 2011 Air Train International has been marketing the system in China and as of May 2013 there are proposals to build lines in Shanghai and Wenzhou. A number of other Chinese cities are also studying the system.
The first publicly funded overhead railway has run since 1984 at the University of Dortmund, where it initially just connected the north and south campuses. This stretch was opened on 2 May 1984 by Dr. Heinz Riesenhuber, and comprised 1.05 kilometres (0.65 mi) of track and two trains. The cost was approximately DM 24,000,000 (€12,270,000), of which 75% was funded by the German Federal Government, 20% by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and 5% by the city of Dortmund.
The longest span between support pillars is 38.5 metres (126.3 ft), where it crosses the university road, which bisects the two campuses. Just beyond the road the H-Bahn crosses through a nature reserve at its maximum elevation of about 16 metres (approx. 50 feet) above ground. In order to prevent passengers getting close to the track at stations, there are platform edge doors between the platform and the track. As soon as the vehicles arrive in the station, doors in the partition open automatically, along with the train car doors.
In 1993, following a three-year construction period, a new 900 m (0.56 mile) long branch was opened, along with two new stations, one in Eichlinghofen and another at the S-Bahn station at Dortmund university. This construction included technology considered to be the first of its kind in Germany. The existing system was renovated, and equipped with technology which allowed determining the train's location with a much higher precision — within 3 cm (1.2 in). These changes allowed for a higher speed, and trains can now also follow each other more closely. Three new carriages were supplied by Siemens. An extension into the nearby technology park was opened on 19 December 2003, which means the current network, including this final 1.2 km (0.75 mi) extension, has a length of 3.162 km (approx. 2 miles). The building of this section cost around €15,500,000.
Line 1 operates between the Technology Park and Eichlinghofen, and during the day carriages arrive every ten minutes, stopping at the university and the S-Bahn stop, where there is a connection every twenty minutes to Dortmund city centre, and Bochum. Two trains serve line 1.
Line 2 is the original line between the North and South campuses of the university, and is served by a third train. A reserve fourth vehicle is available, and there is also a maintenance vehicle.

Here on the Bridgepoint Hospital site at the Gate House on Gerrard Street, west of Broadview Avenue, can be found this plaque. Here's what it says:
The gate house marked the entry to the Don Jail on the east side of the driveway. Wooden gateposts mark the west side. At one time, a wooden fence surrounded the entire site. This was to keep inmates working on the jail's farm from escaping.
The gate house was completed in 1865. At first, it was a modest, one-storey structure that served as the post for the jail's Gatekeeper. It is unclear whether the Gatekeeper was a permanent position. It may have been a role held by various turnkeys or head guards. The turnkeys controlled access to the property and to different parts of the jail. the Welland Courthouse cost more than $100,000 to build. That was a significant amount in 1856. It was practically gutted by fire 57 years later on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 11, 1913. Only the first floor remained partly untouched by the flames. When the fire was brought under control, the stone shell was practically all that was left of the structure. Defective electric wiring was said to be the origin of the fire.
Initial courthouse staff consisted of the jail’s governor, a turnkey assistant, and three guards. The jail was reported as having a maximum capacity for 72 prisoners – 60 male and 12 female. Each block contained five cells, with a single open toilet.
The Welland Courthouse also housed a death cell for those condemned to die. A gallow set up in the execution yard allowed hangings, with the first taking place in 1859. The stone wall facing East Main Street was the site of the jail yard and gallows; however, early in the 20th century, hangings were moved inside the building.
The last execution at the courthouse took place 99 years after the first execution. On January 17, 1958, the last man was executed in the gallows by hanging for a murder conviction.
Designed by Kivas Tully, the Welland County Courthouse (Cross and East Main Streets) opened in 1856 and was used to house the first Welland County Council meeting. Made of Queenston limestone, it is a must-see for architectural and historical enthusiasts. Take a stroll through judicial history and visit the Court House Museum on the second floor.

We have these Turkey Buzzards and the larger Black Buzzards. The Turkeys are much better at soaring on the wind and are able to search out carrion by scent. The Black Buzzards shadow the Turkeys and share in the bounty.

Cadmans Cottage or Cadman's Cottage is a heritage-listed former water police station and sailor's home and now visitor attraction located at 110 George Street in the inner city Sydney suburb of The Rocks in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The property is owned by NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.
Cadmans Cottage is the second-oldest surviving residential building in Sydney, having been built in 1816 for the use of the governmental coxswains and their crews. The building is heavily steeped in the history of Sydney, also claiming the title as the first building to have been built on the shoreline of The Rocks area. It is claimed that during high tide, the water would come within 2.4 metres of Cadmans Cottage; however, due to the reclamation of land during the building of Circular Quay, the waterline has moved about 100 metres away since 1816.
The building has had several different uses in its lifetime; first and foremost as the abode of the four governmental coxswains (from 1816 until 1845), the headquarters of the Sydney Water Police (from 1845 to 1864)[5] and as the Sailor's Home (from 1865 to 1970). Restoration of Cadmans Cottage began in 1972 after it was proclaimed a heritage site under the National Parks and Wildlife Act and control of the site was handed over to the Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority. A major archaeological investigation occurred in 1988 (in preparation for the bicentennial redevelopment) and since then, only minor maintenance works have been completed on the building. The building is now used as the home for the Sydney Harbour National Parks Information Centre and can be viewed by the public.
Before 1797 government shipbuilding was carried out only on the eastern side of Sydney Cove. In July 1797 a site for shipbuilding was designated on the western side of the Cove. The yard became operational at the end of that year, with fences, gates and the construction of two timber sheds and a house in the north of the yard for the principle shipwright. In 1798 additions and improvements were made including the roofing of a workshop and storehouse, construction of a watch house, an apartment for the clerk, a joiners shop and a smithy. By 1804 a long open fronted building, probably a boat shed, had been constructed along the George Street frontage, and is illustrated in various views of Sydney Harbour.
There were complaints about the lack of facilities and the standard of construction of the buildings, most of which were in poor condition by 1806. A building used by the boat crews and Coxswains was reported as needing repairs and was probably demolished in 1816 on the completion of the Coxswain's Barracks, later known as Cadmans. In 1810 Lachlan Macquarie became Governor and initiated a major programme of public works, including the upgrading of the government dockyard, though little if any of this work was carried out before 1816.
There are no official records of the date of construction of the Coxswains' Barracks, now knows as Cadmans Cottage, after the longest serving government Coxswains, John Cadman. Based on the evidence of a series of sketches by James Wallis it was built between late 1815 and early 1816, on land adjoining the Government Dockyard. Wallis' drawing of the West Side of Sydney Cove, prepared between January and May 1816 shows the completed two-storey stone building located on the waters edge.
There are no known plans or specification for the building, nor records of payment for its construction. The absence of a record of payment from the Police Fund, the construction of the dockyard wall in 1818, has led Francis Greenway directed the construction of Cadman's. Tropman and Associates also consider it possible that Greenway designed the building in his capacity as Acting Colonial Architect but there is as yet no solid evidence for Greenway's involvement and this must still be considered speculative.
The harbour was the focus of the city and Cadmans as the headquarters of the Government Boats, played a key role in the early development of Sydney. The Cottage was built up against a protruding rock shelf, below the level of George Street to take advantage of its shoreline location for supervision of the Government Boats. These were either moored close by or pulled up on the shore in front, but it is highly unlikely that they would have been brought into the building given the scale of the lower room and the original doorway.
The Coxswains' Barracks (Cadmans Cottage), was occupied by the government coxswains and it probably originally served both as an office and as quarters for some of the boat crews, though the later coxswains appear to have lived there with their families. The coxswain supervised shipping on the harbour and was responsible for rostering the boat crews who were employed in the procurement and transportation of timber, grass, shells (for lime) and stores. The coxswains also provided crews for the Governor's Barge and the naval Officer's boats.
The post of government coxswain was held by four people;
Bernard Williams, from 1807 - 1822
David Smith, from 1822 - 1823
John von Mangerhouse Weiss, from 1823 - 1826; and
John Cadman, from 1827 - 1845.
Cadman was the longest serving of the coxswains. In 1798 he was transported to NSW for horse stealing and in the records of the Muster for Sydney for 1814 is shown as having received an unconditional pardon. He probably started work at the dockyard as Assistant Government Coxswain around the time that Williams was appointed as Coxswain. 18 In 1823 Cadman was appointed as master of the government cutter Mars which was wrecked in 1926. Cadman was removed from his post following the sinking of the Mars and applied for another position in the dockyard. In 1827 when Weiss resigned Cadman was appointed as coxswain. Cadman married Elizabeth Mortimer, who had two daughters, on 26 October 1830 at St Phillip's Church. They all lived at the Cottage until his step-daughters married in 1842 and 1845.
Cadman held the position of coxswain and occupied the Cottage until he retired in 1845. Francis Low's Directory for 1847 advertises the John Cadman Steam Packet Hotel at Parramatta confirming that he had departed from Sydney by this time. Following his retirement the post of Government Coxswain was abolished and the functions were taken over by various other bodies, including the Water Police, Customs and private traders. Cadman died in 1848 and was buried in the Sandhills Cemetery until 1901 when work commenced on Central Station and he and his headstone were relocated to Bunnerong Cemetery at Botany.
The Water Police took over Cadmans between 1846 and 1849 and the building may have been vacant for several years after Cadman's retirement. There is some uncertainty as to the year of occupation of Cadmans by the Water Police. Thorp and Proudfoot believe this to have been around 1847. Thorp quoted the allocation of £400 in the estimates of 1847 "for the establishment of a Police Court on the northern part of the City of Sydney for the purposes of general and Water Police. Though this location is rather vague Kent believes that it does refer to Cadmans but as there is no documentary evidence that any construction was done at this time, or that the funds were spent, questions that the Water Police actually took over the building in this year. The re-establishment of the Water Police was gazetted in January 1847 but the Water Police Office in George Street was not gazetted as a Court of Petty Sessions or a clerk appointed until January 1849, which is considered by Kent to be a more likely time for its occupation by the Water Police.
Some alterations were made to the building around this time. In 1853 tenders were advertised for the construction of an additional room. The specifications for the work sho that a major addition to the southern side of Cadmans Cottage, later referred to as the "keepers room" or "turnkeys room" had already been constructed. There is no record of its construction. It may have been built towards the end of the Coxswain's phase or when the Water Police took over the Cottage. Proudfoot and Tropman attribute the design of the addition to Colonial Architect Mortimer Lewis. However, although the design is consistent with Lewis' work there is, as yet, no documentary evidence to support his involvement.
By the end of 1854 the Water Police offices consisted of a brick walled enclosure, containing a clearing house, the Cottage, with a cell on the lower floor, the keepers room built c. 1835-1847 and on the upper floor the office and presumably living quarters. In 1854 the building was reported as being inadequate for the Water Police's purposes and the next year tenders were let for the construction of a new station. Cadmans continued to be used as a Water Police lock-up and there are records of requests for its repair up until 1857.
During the Water Police's occupation of the cottage major changes to the face of the harbour took place. The quay was extended from the Kings Wharf along the western side of Sydney Cove to Campbells Wharf across the shoreline in front of Cadmans, along the present alignment of Quay Street. The earlier docks of the old Government Dockyard, the rocks above high water, and the beaches on the western side of the Cove, were accessible underneath the new timber wharf and a plan of 1860 shows the area in front of Cadmans as still being covered at high tide.
In 1863 a proposal for the construction of a Sailors Home was put forward and the site between Cadmans Cottage and the Mariners Chapel to the north was chosen. The report of the Annual Meeting of the Sailors Home in 1864 indicates that Cadmans had been restored as a residence for the manager of the Sailors Home. The Sailors Home, opened in 1864 was only partially completed. The proposed eastern facade and southern wing, which would have required the destruction of Cadmans, was not built because of financial constraints and Cadmans continued as the manager's residence.
The land in front of Cadmans was probably filled and raised sometime between 1870 and 1875, the docks and foreshore were obliterated and the visual association of Cadmans with the harbour was removed. Later during this period the area in front of the Cottage was turned into a garden. In the 1880s further work on Circular Quay, to increase the capacity of the wharfs was carried out. In 1901 government wharfs became the responsibility of the Sydney Harbour Trust.
In that year the government resumed all land in The Rocks because of an outbreak of bubonic plague and demolished the worst slums for public health reasons. In 1926 the Sailors Home was extended and from then on the managers lived in the main building. In 1927 the Maritime Services Board took control of the entire area. Cadmans was used to accommodate visiting merchant sailor at this time.
In the first thirty years of the 20th century there was a growing awareness of Australia's past and an awakening of historical interest. This was reflected in the inauguration of the Royal Australian Historical Society in 1901 and an increasing resistance to the demolition of significant buildings. Federation sparked further interest in the early years of European settlement and increased feelings of the need to preserved buildings surviving from the 19th century. Public debate over the demolition of important buildings focussed on two area; Macquarie Street and Circular Quay.
The Taxation Office and Commissariat Store at Circular Quay were both substantial, prominent buildings. The Taxation Office was originally built as a naval officers quarters in 1812 and the Commissariat Store built in 1809-1813 was the oldest Government building extant in the 1930s. In 1937 a committee set up to prepare a development scheme for the area of The Rocks resumed in 1901 recommended that both buildings be demolished. A campaign to save the buildings was fought in the pages of The Sydney Morning Herald and by the Royal Australian Historical Society. It was unsuccessful and they were demolished in 1939. The publicity changed public opinion and this increase in awareness of the need to save old colonial buildings contributed to the success of the campaign to save The Mint and Hyde Park Barracks in Macquarie Street. It was around this time that the historical value of Cadmans was first commented upon. Artist Sydney Long wrote an article in The Sydney Morning Herald in 1939 saying that it was the agitation over the Taxation Office and Commissariat Store which had saved it from demolition.
By the middle of this century Cadmans was of acknowledged historical value, being listed on Cumberland County Council's Register B, as a historic building. In 1950 Cadmans was described as "consisting of four rooms with the usual conveniences", with a galvanised iron roof, and with its main entrance being from George Street, and steps cut in the rock to the site.
Cadmans was vacant by 1962 and falling into disrepair. In 1964 the Overseas Passenger Terminal was built and the view of Cadmans from the harbour was completely obscured. In 1970 the Sydney Cove Redevelopment Authority took control of The Rocks and Cadmans Cottage was proclaimed as a Historic Site, under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, two years later.
In 1972 Philip Cox, Storey and Partners, architects designed and supervised work on the building, removing much of the archaeological and architectural evidence of changes to the Cottage. The work was poorly documented by today's standards and it is difficult to ascertain the extent of work. An unpublished article by Cox noted that a number of "annexes" were demolished, as were internal partitions upstairs. Many other changes were made and these are discussed below. Following the 1972 work a display was installed in the lower rooms and the National Parks and Wildlife Foundation opened a shop on the upper level. In the lead-up to Bicentennial redevelopment of this part of Circular Quay an archaeological investigation in the forecourt was undertaken preparatory to landscaping works. The Foundation closed their shop on the upper floor and it was refurbished and reopened as the National Parks and Wildlife shop in 1988.
In 1988 a major archaeological investigation of the site was sponsored by Comrealty Pty Ltd. A large volunteer work force, under the direction of Service Archaeologists carried out excavations within the lower rooms and in the area beneath the paving on the eastern side of the building.
Since this time only minor maintenance work has been undertaken.
A Kelmark GT, for sale at $12,000, visiting the VDub Getaway event at the Hillsborough County Fair Showground. Not a make I had previously known, Kelmark specialised in producing kit and custom-built turnkey conversions of Volkswagen Beetle chassis and Chevrolet Corvairs, often enhancing their performance with the fitment of V8 engines.

Amid program delays and revamps, the first ATHENA jet started a series of test flights in early March 2024. Shortly afterwards, the director of the U.S. Army's ISR Task Force shared the first clear image of the Global 6500 jet, showcasing its large radome and SIGINT sensor suite. The ATHENA program is the bridging phase between the ARES and ARTEMIS platforms and the final HADES jets and will consist of four Global 6500 bizjets with radome and SIGINT capabilities. Delays and supply-chain issues led to a restructuring of the program, but initial flight tests are now well underway ahead of delivery later this year.
The Army Theater-level High-altitude Expeditionary Next Airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ATHENA) program is the bridging phase between the contractor-owned and operated ARES and ARTEMIS jets, which are already flying operational missions, and the final HADES platform.
When the ATHENA contracts for the four modified Global 6500s were awarded to the MAG Aerospace-L3Harris team and SNC, the program was structured into two components: ATHENA-R and ATHENA-S. The first phase, ATHENA-R (Radar) was planned to house a DoD-provided radar system and a SIGINT suite. Delivery to the U.S. Army was set for January 2024, but supply chain and program issues have resulted in delays. In parallel, the U.S. Army assessed that both ATHENA variants require both SIGINT and radar capabilities, leading to the service dropping the ‘-S’ and ‘-R’ variants and no longer prioritizing the delivery of one ‘variant’ over the other.
The first ATHENA jet will be deployed to South Korea, joining ARES deployed to Japan and several other COCO ISR bizjets in the region. While the specific deployment areas of the other ATHENA jets are unknown, two airframes will presumably be deployed to the Indo-Pacific theatre and the other two to Europe.
Besides the clear threats, the assumption that ATHENA will join the ARTEMIS jets in Europe is also based on an announcement from last year that stated ATHENA-S will ‘‘support U.S. Army missions in the U.S. European Command area of responsibility.’’ However, the program revamps and the ever-changing ISR needs of the U.S. military may have changed those plans or will do so in the future.

Integrated on Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft, the system will help the Army meet global intelligence requirements. Operating at high altitude will provide the aircraft greater survivability and line-of-sight, both essential to help the Army achieve its long-range precision fires modernization priorities.
MAG Aerospace is currently the prime contractor for the Army’s Sensor Technology Operations and Readiness (STORM) contract. Being deeply embedded in these critical capabilities is core to MAG’s mission of making the world smaller and safer.

The Chesil Speedster is a good quality replica of the Porsche 356 sold in kit form for a donor Volkswagen Beetle (By using a proportion of the original VW the car may be registered using the chassis' original registration numbers) the floor plan is shortened to replicate the original handling of the Porsche but Chesil supplied bespoke chassis on request. Original VW Beetle engines are the normal donor units but through Chesil Arnie Levics Engineering could supply hand built 2000 cc 110 bhp twin carburettor units as in this car. Chesil have recently been purchased by Tygan Motor Company, Horn Park Industrial Estate, Broadwindsor Road, Beaminster, Dorset. DT8 3PT who have phased out kit built models, but will still supply turnkey built cars, and state that they will be be happy to continue to supply parts.

In October 1839, Governor A. P. Bagby laid the cornerstone of the Wetumpka State Penitentiary and by 1841, the 208 cell prison was completed at a cost of $84,889. An appropriation of $10,000 was made for the prisons first year of operation.
The prison's organizational structure called for a board of three inspectors selected for two year terms by a point vote of both houses in the legislature. One of the members was required to be a physician. The Inspectors of the Penitentiary (IP) had general supervision and control over both state and county convicts, operating directly under the Governor. The physician member was required to live at the penitentiary so that he could devote "his whole time and services exclusively to the supervision and care of the practice upon the convicts."
The three inspectors, John Watson, J. M. Armstrong and S. Simmons, were selected by the Legislature in November 1841. These three were the first IPs and served under Governor Benjamin Fitzpatrick.
In November 1841, William Hogan was selected to be Alabama's first warden by the legislature for a two year term.
The organizational structure also provided for a deputy warden, one clerk, and a number of overseers and turnkeys. Within this organizational method, the authority was divided between the IPs and the Warden. The Inspectors appointed the deputy warden and clerk pending legislative approval, while the overseers and turnkeys were hired by the Warden. Additionally, a military guard headed by a sergeant with no more than twelve privates were maintained at the Wetumpka State Penitentiary at the state's expense, but under operational orders of the Warden. All appointees were required to take the oath of office.

The Walls of Alabama
Each state’s penitentiary was usually nicknamed the "Walls of ..." [the name of the state where it was located]. The Wetumpka State Penitentiary was known as the "Walls of Alabama" because of the 25 to 30 foot high brick walls which surrounded the facility on three sides.
The penitentiary complex was composed of three buildings, the east, west and north buildings. The east building was the front entrance and served as the fourth wall. The east building was an attractive three story portico with wood trim that ran across the front of the building's three verandas very reminiscent of the French New Orleans style.
The walls began at both ends of the building where the cell blocks were located. The cell blocks were 93 x 42 feet high. Inside, the cell blocks were divided into four tiers of cells, one above the other. The brick cells were 7.5 x 33.3 x 6.75 feet high. Each cell block housed 104 convicts for a total prison capacity of 208.
The west building at the back of the yard inside the wall housed a kitchen, offices, a dining room, chapel, wood and blacksmith shops. Separating the kitchen from the living room quarters was a standard architectural practice of the day for fire prevention. The west building was a two story central block with one story wings on each side.
The north buildings were a two story building which originally housed the stables, barn, and printers shop. A two story portico ran the full length of the south side of this building. It is still standing and now is used by Elmore County for road material storage. A wooden bath and laundry house plus a small brick hospital was located in the center of the interior yard.
In 1842 the first inmate, William Garret, entered the Walls with a 20 year sentence for harboring a runaway slave.
In prison, one day was like the rest of the year with little exception. Typically, at dawn a militiaman's trumpet or other signal awaken each numbered convict; and when the signal was sounded again, the prisoners had to step out of their cells. Each prisoner waited silently in line with his night and water buckets in his hands until ordered by the turnkey to empty them.
The prisoners were then marched in lockstep with striped uniforms to their work benches where they labored silently making saddles, harnesses and other handcrafts until signaled to march to breakfast, where they ate their meals silently. Returned back to work, the rest of the day's labor was broken by two other brief meals, also in silence.
The convicts worked from dawn to dark six days a week. On Sunday they were gathered for a mandatory sermon and afterwards, might get a chance to walk in the prison yard and chew tobacco that they had earned for good behavior. Smoking elsewhere was prohibited because of the fire hazard.
Prisoners continually subverted discipline methods by making penitentiary fashioned shank knives and were made to wear iron collars as punishment for fighting among themselves. While silence was mandatory, conversations frequently punctuated the silence.
On Sundays after the mandatory sermon, songs of obscenity and mirth, or convict courses, would be heard echoing within the Walls.
Once established, the Wetumpka State Penitentiary and the Inspectors of the Penitentiary took on a life of its own. Most of the prisoners were white immigrants, and all of the few black prisoners had been free men before they were incarcerated. In antebellum Alabama, slaves had no rights to respect, no civic virtue or character to restore, no freedom to abridge and therefore were not incarcerated at the Walls.
Warden Hogan's prison administration was unprofitable from the beginning and proved to be a financial disaster. Alabamians, like other Southerners, enormously disliked having to pay taxes for a government they really did not want in the first place, and the added burden of having to support a prison full of convicts that had been touted by the politicians as a money maker, became a major cause of popular dissatisfaction from the citizens about state government and the prison's administration.

Produced by Hawk Cars of Frant, near Tunbridge Wells, Sussex the Hawk 289 kit is based on the AC. The Hawk 289 principally utilises MGB components although Jaguar IRS can be fitted as an alternative. to the MGB live axle with chassis already bracketed to accommodate the upgrade at any time. Front suspension without the crossmember is used, and the steering rack and column are retained. At the back, the axle and modified suspension are used. The MGB brakes are also utilised on the Hawk although a 4 pot, vented conversion is available. An independent suspension upgrade is also available to replace the MGB components with more effective units suitable for this kit. The Ultima GTR is a sports car manufactured by Ultima Sports Ltd of Hinckley, Leicestershire, England, and described by commentators as a supercar.
