Chmurka has tumor.

I am shocked, I feel nauseaus, I can't believe it, I...

On Friday I sensed something in Chmurka's tummy... I didn't know what it was, it was growing bigger. Yesterday something happened, and Chmurka had all the sympotms of constipation. Today I took her to the vet to heal it.

And then it turned out she has tumor.

Right in her stomach.

Like a small stone...

She will have surgery on Wednesday, noon.

The chances are 50 / 50.

It all depends what actually is inside her.

Chmurka is

the biggest love of my life

the most amazing hamster

the most wonderful person.

I can't live without her.

She is very tired now...

She was given injections, lots of water, glucose, painkillers, other medicine...

She was totally paralysed at the vet. She had to stay there for many hours.

She is sleeeping now...

Please please please pray for Her...

Tigger has a tumor the size of a ping pong ball (but oblong, not perfectly spherical) that we've known about for over a year now. (She had a breast tumor removed in September of 2016, soon after Nobuo died, and the vet said it was likely Tigger would have more tumors in the future.) This particular tumor has not been removed on the advice of the vet because she said when this type of tumor is removed, the cancer spreads to other, less treatable places in the cat's body. For that reason, we agreed with the vet and didn't have the tumor removed.

The tumor has been getting bigger and must have been annoying poor Tigger. A few days ago, we noticed she was grooming herself excessively on the skin over her tumor. This evening, she groomed herself so much she started bleeding a lot. I cleaned it up a bit with warm water then she groomed herself again and bled on the floor.

So, Tigger is now the fourth cat in the household who has to wear a tunic - this time not for warmth but to protect her from herself (the same reason why Assam wore a tunic many years ago). This particular tunic covers her tumor but I suspect she'll find a way to groom herself there anyway.

Tigger didn't like the tunic in the least but is starting to get used to it. Yuba, her best friend, thought it looked horrendous on her and chased her a bit. Tigger is looking at Yuba in this picture.

Tigger is our second youngest cat (at almost 14) so it's very sad that she developed this disease so young. At least she is in good company with the older cats and their various ailments...

The vet thinks Tigger probably has one to two more years of life and we intend to spoil her to our utmost.

My first Tenzin has a slit on his jaw, so I bought another Tenzin to sort of replace the first, until I would get the problem looked into by IT's Patient Care.

Well, this other Tenzin that was supposed to be perfect came with an even bigger fault. He has a giant lump on top of his head that is really hard and it looks like a mixture of hair and something... glue? There's another smaller lump right behind it. He looks really weird, especially from the front. It's as if he's got a giant tumor on his head, and I don't know what to do with it or if there's a big hole right under it. :-( I've contacted Patient Care about both Tenzins and a number of other dolls with faults, and of course it's going to take weeks or months before I get these problems sorted out. I can't enjoy these dolls, and it feels like I've only thrown money out the window. :,-(

Sakit kepala terus menerus

A coruña, Galicia 2014

So obviously I'm way behind posting my 365 photos, however, this has been weighing heavily on me and required immediate attention.

This is a compilation of ultrasound images of the right side of my neck, inside which is growing a kidney bean-shaped mass roughly the size of a golfball. Sorry for the quality, I had to take these with a crappy cell phone camera. The tech looked at me like I was a freak when I asked her for a digital copy.

For the past two weeks or so I had pretty much decided to suspend my 365 shots because the lump in my neck is so large I'm pretty sure it can be seen from space.

Then, I was gently reminded by the photostream of my Savannah, GA friend lost in translatn of the purpose of starting 365 in the first place. You don't know you did it Charlotte, but thank you. I will never remember accurately a week, a month or a year from now my feelings this day without posting this.

I have spent the last two weeks telling myself in my best Arnold Schwarzenegger voice, "It's not a toomuh!" Right now nobody seems to know what it is. I go in Monday to hear from my doctor what the radiologist had to say about it. All the ultrasound tech would say about it was, "Holy Cow, that's huge," which was less than edifying.

I am scared. I am angry. Here in Seattle I can feel the approach of Fall in the air. The coming weeks have always been my favorite time of the year. The warm days, the chill nights, the changeable weather, the wind redolent with the scent of the leaves turning. I have always felt a contentment and melancholy as summer dies away. Now I am feeling it even more poignantly with August not even past.

Am I to wane and fade with the summer? This is the thought that keeps my up all night, watching incessant re-runs of "Law & Order" and "Dog the Bounty Hunter" ( I know, I know, but there something freakishly compelling about a grown man in the 21st century sporting a mullet and a truly appalling choice of clothing).

The last three years have been so hard. I have lost all three of my mentors and two cherished pets. This last February my friend Henry died in his sleep at 34 of congestive heart failure that he never knew he had.

It seems I've picked a banner year to start my 365. Before it is done it will have seen my divorce, change of career and a cross country move. Now it will also chronicle the saga of the suspicious lump. All I need now to make it complete will be a UFO sighting and a run in with Chupacabra.

Neoplastic epithelial cells are seen, and some calcifications. The background shows tumor diathesis.

One of the most important roles of the immune system is to clear the body of viruses and cancer cells. This job is performed by killer T cells which hunt down and destroy tumors and virally-infected cells. In this immunofluorescence image, a killer T cell (blue) is engaging a target cell. A patch of signaling molecules (pink) that gathers at the site of cell-cell contact indicates that the CTL has identified a target. Lytic granules (red) that contain cytotoxic components then travel along the microtubule cytoskeleton (green) to the contact site and are secreted, thus killing the target.

Funny I should have worked on a photo depicting an aircraft that would have fought in the Korean War considering the turn of events earlier this week...
