i didn’t know

a lilac by name

back then;

i just knew the feeling

of pushing myself out of bed

in sync

with the first sprigs of spring

and blossoming myself

as i breathed in

their brave haze;

the excesses of spring;

an exaltation after

the winter freeze,

all believing it is the end,

but one seed.

i broke my hand-mirror

on purpose that season

and declared

there was no such thing

as bad luck,

just self-fulfilling prophecies

stretching far beyond

the horizon of the sea

where you had left me

struggling to breathe

and with the conviction

of the breeze,

my lungs gusted and seized

until i found myself

back on my feet.

I have gym tomorrow and it's my first class this year and I have a rally low self esteem and I usually get knocked back down by a lot of people, even people I thought was my friends.
