82/365 # Dead batteries by Darren Rogers

My goddamn motherfu*king batteries died again tonight, just when I was taking my 365 shot. I had an idea and everything. I put my spare set in and those fu*king, c*nting, sh*tty batteries died before I could get one shot off too, so plan A had to be abandoned in favour of plan B . . . well, plan Z really. Plan Z involved me, a whiteish wall and my cameraphone held at arms length. And yep, it's Daz against a textured background - again.

The blood on the walls is meant to be like battery acid . .. it's meant to be symbolic of my batteries dying . . . blood on the walls, you get the idea, right? It's a pretty poor attempt at making something more out of this shot than there is. Hey, at least I got my Ramones shirt in shot today! I don't even know what colour battery acid is.

I'm going to attempt today's idea tomorrow, it may not be big or clever but it'll be fun if it works out! And will feature a special guest.

That's about as much as I can talk about tonight's shot, there's something that's been on my mind for the last few weeks - that my original motives for starting this project have been superceded.

I started off wanting to document the last six months of my twenties and the first six months of my thirties, but somewhere along the line I've forgotten all about that and it's become more about the image than real life.

And I've decided that actually I'm really happy with that. My 365 has made me forget my dreaded 30th birthday and I'm almost looking forward to it now - I should be able to afford a swanky DSLR, and I've found something new that I really enjoy, encourages me to get out of the house at least once a week and keeps my brain active.

I'm sure I'll still refer to the big three zero, especially as it gets closer to the big day, and I've got an idea for day 365 that ties in with my original motives for starting this project, but it's cool that my focus for this project has shifted from something I regard as negative (turning 30) to something positive.

So yay for Flickr, the 365 group, photography, Lightroom and Photoshop - god bless their reality-inhibiting qualities.
