I'm baaaaack. I have been absent for a while since I was studying for vet school exams. I literally studied for 50 days straight all day every day in preparation for them. This is what I get for procrastinating and leaving it all til the end I guess haha. The funny thing with vet school is that studying over a month before is still considered cramming because of the sheer volume of stuff we have to go through. You simply can't cram with 3 days before a final like you can in undergrad. Anyway, so there's that. Just one more semester to go and doing that once more all over again and I will be done with exams FOREVER (kind of)! Woohoo!

After exams I went backpacking in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks so I have lots of exciting photos to share!

If you have travelled to countries with tuk tuks before I am sure you will understand the feeling of freedom and joy when you are in the back of a tuk tuk. The recklessness of the tuk tuk drivers, the heat, the noise of the city, the smell, the haggling, the colours... I just love everything about tuk tuks. I am sure I am romanticising the shit out of tuk tuks and locals might find me idiotic but that's my relationship with tuk tuks anyway.

Taken November 2016 (from my archives) and, no, I didn’t retrieve or rescue this pillow when I saw it.

This is headed to our Trash Talk Tuesday group over on FB. We used to have recycle bins at our DPW and it was always a treat to see what some ppl divested themselves of (threw away). This little wooden shoe is about an inch to an inch and a half long. Yes, I rescued it.

Let me see if I can find the little wooden shoe used as a photo prop so you can get an idea of how cute it is…. (A little later) I found 8 pictures I took and posted using the little shoe as a prop. I’ll put them below when next I’m on my laptop.

Two Tatty Tortoiseshells

Berkeley Municipal Pier - Berkeley California

Last Sunday I met up with Albert for a sunrise out along the Berkeley pier area. It was a interesting morning for sure. We mistook a group of fishermen out on the pier for a few that may be wrapping up their shenanigans from the Saturday night before. After a couple of minutes trying to figure out what was going on, we moved over to a jetty wall at the mouth of the harbor. Later, after the light was a bit brighter, we determined that we were incorrect in our original assessment, and headed out to the end of the usable pier. As the sun rises, the air temperatures change, most of the time creating more fog, and marine layers. Albert quickly decided that he liked the light that was coming in from the east, so he composed a few as I made my exposure calculations for my composition. I really liked what he was coming up with, but the lack of a LCD on my Hasselblad kept me from trying to work with the fast moving light.

This is my second analog upload so far, and the "process" as been every bit of the challenge I had expect. Working with film is exactly what I was hoping for.... Challenging.
