Starting a new persona is hard when you have so many photos you have done and want to post. So for now some will still have Brat on them... but truly ...
Bring on the Summer. WE have had a slow start here... but it is coming in full bang now... Hugs to all

This young Northern Cardinal was in the Rose of Sharon tree trying to eat the flower buds that were just beginning to grow.
Guess when you're young there's a whole lot to explore and learn about. And eating Rose of Sharon buds is one of those things you just gotta do!
New challenges we embrace each day. Thank you to Photo Club for ones that make me think... try and push forward with ☺♥ I am sure I have hair days like this in RL when I try to come up with what I should for the photoclub... hahaha ♥

I won't just survive
Oh, you will see me thrive
Can't write my story
I'm beyond the archetype
I won't just conform
No matter how you shake my core
'Cause my roots, they run deep, oh
Oh, ye of so little faith
Don't doubt it, don't doubt it
Victory is in my veins
I know it, I know it
And I will not negotiate
I'll fight it, I'll fight it
I will transform
When, when the fire's at my feet again
And the vultures all start circling
They're whispering, you're out of time
But still, I rise
This is no mistake, no accident
When you think the final nail is in, think again
Don't be surprised, I will still rise
Last week I went out on a shoot with a good friend who has been sharing her tips and tricks.
Didn't this turn out great?
It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all - in which case, you fail by default.

Wow! Photo number one hundred and fifty! I kinda wish I had realized that this morning so I could have maybe done something special.
This is just me being weird, playing around with movement. I'm thought I would try not looking so posed all of the time. I've been playing with processing too.
I guess I just figure that the more stuff I try, the more I will start to understand what my personal aesthetic is. Right now, I am all over the place. Don't get me wrong, I think that its good to be all over the place, especially in the early stages of exploring one's creativity.
Today, I took a jar out with me - I've seen a few shots of nice flowers in jars which I have wanted to try.
I went to the park, and then the beach. I had this idea of creating a mini beach in the jar.
A lot of people love to live by the ocean, and a lot of people dream of living by the ocean. So I thought it would be nice, for people to be able to take it with them in a jar!
I am very lucky to be surrounded by beautiful empty beaches in Darwin.
I can't imagine not living by the sea now and luckily in Australia most towns are on the coast - so I guess that's good for me!
I have also submitted this to Our Daily Challenge, the theme for today is "I have never shot one of these before" (19th April 2011).
I have wanted to do a shot with a jar for a while, and I actually have lots of ideas of how I can use the jar in different ways. That will come in useful when I am lacking inspiration as part of my 365!
I have also wanted to do a shot where I am holding something in the air and you can just see my hands! So that's two birds with one stone with this shot - AND it fits for the challenge!
54 of 365.
My first attempt at focus stacking using my wife's Dahlias as my test subject. Total of 10 photos used for this image.
every time i photo a parrot it comes out looking like a painting instead of a real photo of a real bird. i dont know why this is so i just keep taking more shots trying different things , this is the closest i have come to taking a shot of a real parrot that looks real and not like a painting . so i will keep trying and see if i can improve this . i sure do love the colours of them so much
Wanted to try something new, I really liked the way birds sat , The silhouette adds some story to the picture. Over sharpness, Grains was intentional just to add something new to the picture, after all all pictures doesn't deserve SOCC status :)
Suggestions, improvements most welcome.
i didn't think i was going to take a picture today, i had an exhausting day at work, but thanks to his help, we created this "vintage" little number.

i fell in love with blueelephantstitches’ texas star blocks (aren’t they amazing?? she even has a great tutorial!), but somehow i was in the mood for a paper piecing session. so i googled for a pattern and actually found one. yeah! this is my second attempt at paper piecing. i hope that this block will be perfect for a little pouch. i’m handquilting it with sparkle floss!!
I love this time of year, when my garden gives me a small peek of summer.
Rule Free: Day 6- I was really excited for this assignment. I seem to try and get my photo perfectly exposed, never playing with it when I shoot, only later in LR. It was fun shooting while purposely allowing the photo to be slightly under or over exposed. I really want to shoot outside what the light metter says is exposed, and allow it to be just a guide.
OK - 1st, ignore the handheld manual focus. [the focus looks a little soft, but I might have been standing to close, and I was in dim light [movement]
I will need some practice with this setup, but in a nutshell, the first thing [on the camera] is to 1) turn off AF, 2) tell the camera it is OK to shoot without the apt being in A position.
I haven't figured out if I need to tell it the F stop, it seems to get close.
I did tell it the focal length [35mm]
Testing this weekend will be on a tripod [and using more than an LED desklamp]

As we look at the new year approaching, is there something that you’ve always wanted to do but were too afraid? Are you afraid of trying new things? Thomas Jefferson was amazing at trying new things and our country can be grateful for all that he learned and for the boxes he stepped...

Still trying out things with cut-outs !!! I think this one and the next I'll upload have got to be to date, my favourites ......well, they've got animals in them - haven't they !!!!! LOL !!! Below I've left you the original so you can see it - I was going to take away the cow-pats, but then I thought ..... nah - wouldn't be a cow photo without them !!! I tried to create a sense of very cold weather with the black and white part - because it was blooming freezing the day I took this photo - December in England - not exactly the tropics !!!!! I am going to dedicate this and the next photo to a very good flickr friend of mine, who makes me giggle daily with his mails and comments, and who was totally gobsmacked that I'd actually done cut-outs with cows - LOL !!!! So .......... TOM - these two are for you !!!!! LOL !!!
Llegarón al Explore - muchisimas gracias a todos ;)
Made Explore - Many thanks to all of you xxxx (Especially Tom with all his visits to put silly tags on it - LOL !!!)

This morning I met my friend, Marcel, at the forest preserve and I had my first lesson. He said that I did great and that he was surprised that I was riding like this within an hour. I rode around in circles here and then turned around and went the other way (that was a bit of an adjustment). Then I took it on a straightaway and dropped it twice when I was trying to turn. After dropping it again on that second attempt, part of me wanted to just quit and try again another day and the other part was "if you fall of the horse..." So I continued on, rode around a little more to get comfortable again and did the turn. I continued to circle in that smaller area until it felt easier. Marcel was a wonderful teacher. I hope to be able to practice with him a couple more times before we take the motorcycle safety course in September.

Please, tell me what you think.
I'm trying some very new stuff for me, as the past two photos have shown as well. I am liking what I'm coming out with... It's kind of like painting, but with a photo, and there's no actual paint involved. I think I did a pretty good job of getting the glow out of there. The only problem with doing all of this stuff is that I'm blitzed out of my mind and can't remember how to do it the next day. I'm sooo wanting to go to bed, because whenever I get up I stumble into something, but I just might sit on the couch all night fixing up other photos from tonight.
Critique, please!

Well this was not my intended shot for “Me Again Monday,” with the theme imitate. Things did not work out as planned. My original plan was to duplicate one of Anna Gay’s images from her first project 365 www.flickr.com/photos/annagaycoan/4319504114/in/set-72157...
(sorry I haven’t yet figured out how to make the proper link so the whole address doesn’t show). Anna was the first self portrait artist I had ever come across and I thought her work was beautiful and captivating.
So I had taken some shots to use but my computer has had some issues and no longer recognized my adobe photoshop, we tried reloading but this error kept coming up that stopped it from loading. So I am without photoshop and couldn’t do what I would have liked to do. I have to admit I was actually quite ticked, annoyed, irritated, etc. You know those first initial reactions/feelings when things just aren’t going to work out as planned and it’s like it’s the end of the world. Some of those feelings that you’d rather not have and it makes you take a second look at yourself and you realize that in the big scope of life this is minor, super minor.
But even in little things like this you learn and grow. So I’m settled and okay that I didn’t really get to do what I would have liked. Life still goes on and you look for different opportunities, different ideas. I think in all of life’s situations we need to have this outlook, if one door closes you don’t just give up, you look for another one that’s open. You learn to let go of what didn’t work out or what was not meant to be. It is in the letting go that we are then free to embrace other things and move on in life. When we desperately hang onto what is not meant to be we are hindered from moving forward and we become stuck in life and it’s like we are blinded to even seeing the new opportunities that are before us.
This image is one of the very first self portraits I took but never posted, taken a year ago. For my 365 I decided to do a month of self portraits, it made me nervous; I had never done self portraits before but really wanted to give it a try. So I went out the day before I was to start and practiced some, I felt like a dork making all these different expressions out there in the woods all by myself, hoping nobody would be walking through :-) It was a learning month and I am amazed by those who can do a whole year of self portraits.
So even though this isn’t an imitation of any of Anna Gay’s work, she was my initial inspiration for doing self portraits.
