Truth or Consequences is this very small New Mexico town that is famous for being featured on a radio show in 1950. It's a town with hot springs, a great brewery (also known as Truth or Consequences Brewery), and a slower pace. Unfortunately, it is not known for it's vegan food, of which there really isn't any. I mean, have you ever heard of putting sour cream in guacamole? Is this some torture scenario for avocados I haven't heard of yet?
Anyway, I went to Truth or Consequences the night before Brandon Johnson was elected as mayor of Chicago. For those of you who don't know about local politics, Brandon Jonson is a progressive and he was running against Paul Vallas, who is a nihilist. This made it a pretty easy choice for people who care about humanity. Anyway, I floated in that Truth or Consequence hot spring and I meditated for the health of the world and my city to make the right choice. I had so much anxiety and fear that my city would succumb to the darker forces of nature, like a political black hole pulling us all down so our noses scraped the ground. But, the next day, humanity was saved a little bit.
Truth or Consequence would also be a really weird alternate version of Truth or Dare...like easy one there, I choose Truth over having a Consequence or could truth be a consequence? There's a wormhole of logic here but I've already rambled enough. Here's a photo of a small town not a lot of people know about. Please don't try to be an influencer by traveling there just to Instagram it. It's charming and I'd like it to stay that way, even if they need to learn how to make guacamole without the dairy....
Here's more information about this town and this includes actual facts that don't sound like stream of conscious gobbly gook by someone listening to Youth Lagoon, drinking morning coffee, and wondering when the sun is going to fully come out today.

It reminds me of long exposure time photography of flowing water...

Phil Shutt sells antiques in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. He was deputy sheriff and has served in two wars. Very interesting guy. He used to work at the White Sands Missile Base. I bought an ice bucket and a viewmaster.

[Sept. 2007] The sky and clouds had been so amazing all day Wednesday -- with a seemingly endless parade of puffy white forms that would gather, gossip and then go on their way again. So when the magic hour finally came, and the light turned that delicious golden color and the shadows grew dark and long, Katrina and I hopped on our bikes and took off for the playa with our cameras. Along the way we grabbed Ryan (aka www.flickr.com/photos/ryanicus) & Kristie, who were camped nearby at Pleasure Garden, and off we went in search of...well...truth. :)
Is there such a thing as truth, truth in pictures? I think maybe there is. I'm not sure what kind of truth it is, exactly, but I think it's there...to be found, or teased out. Or something. Or maybe my head is just full of playa dust...

On a summer day the weather near Truth or Consequences turned from blue skies to a rainstorm so heavy that the road we traveled on became flooded and impassable, and back to blue skies with rainbows, all within one and a half hours.
