Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a yellow day at Color my World Daily and I think that bananas are truly great to celebrate this day ! As we all know, bananas are yellow so perfect for this awesome yellow day !

Last time I worked with a banana for my picture it was a disaster. Not only I had to eat 2,5 bananas (I did not want to waste some food) and my photo studio (which is my coffee table ) was a total mess… So at first I was really scared to have another banana shoot… I was afraid of going bananas (LOL sorry, I had to get this joke out of my system). But, this time my banana wasn’t peeled ! And the banana peel makes a difference. My mind was so peaceful and zen that I even invited Yellow Lady to share a banana with me… She came as fast as she could on her red bike, wearing her tiny (and brand new !!) red boots and her red purse. She is stylish even when she is biking ! And so we had a banana photo shoot and a glass of sherry for Yellow Lady and a gin and tonic for me after…

But right now, I have to go and grab a coffee before my meeting… and before the snowstorm. Yes, apparently we will get some extra snow in few hours…. I truly believe that snowstorms should be illegal during pandemic! Who is with me on that one ?

Although autumn has now well and truly given way to winter here in Melbourne, there is still a great deal of colour around if you remember to take your time, stop and smell the roses, like this dainty little pale pink beauty which I saw on poking its head out from amidst a hedge of bright red berries on a walk in early June.

The day I took this photo was a lovely and sunny day with bright blue skies: although there was a definite crispness in the air if you were out of the sun.

A Christmas Visit From Pengy and Pengu! 🐧🎄🎁💖 by Ali H

Nothing makes it feel more like the holidays are truly here than getting the chance to spend time with the friends we love. So you can just imagine my delight when Pengy and Pengu arrived for a Christmas visit with me and Corgsz! Happy twirlszzz! It was a joyful afternoon, filled will laughter and fun!

Little Pengy is so thoughtful, and brought me such lovely gifts! He knows I’m a Georgia Peach, and a mad crazy football fan, so he gifted me the most amazing peach cocktail set, I’m in love with it! And as if that wasn’t incredible enough, he also gave me a magical, good luck football themed handbag that would help ensure wins for my Bulldogs! He also insisted on modeling it for me, and put it around his neck as soon as I opened it! That little rascal!

Pengy loves his snacks, so I gave him a deluxe French fry vending machine, so he can always have hot fries on hand, and I balanced that with some healthier homemade soup and a set of penguin themed mugs...he loves to drink hot chocolate, so that’s what he and Corgsz sipped while Pengu and I indulged in delish peach cocktails! And like all kiddos, lil Pengy likes things that twinkle, so Corgsz chose to gift his friend a light up bunny!

We all had such a lovely day, and our favorite little penguin shows us with each stop on his friendship holiday tour that what matters most in life is our connections to those we hold dear. Thank you my dear Pengu and Pengy, for the treasured gift of friendship, all year through. And for including me in your beautiful, heartwarming holiday series. Love to you both, and to beautiful Andie girl....happiest of holidays to you all!

As 2022 draws to a close, I am looking forward to turning the page on this year, which has been a difficult one for me, and starting the new chapter that is 2023.

There are a few lines from a Josh Groban song called "Thankful", that I have always loved:

There is a place we're all connected

Each of us can find each others' light

For me, Flickr has become a beautiful place to find that light and that connection, especially in a world that seems to grow increasingly dark and troubled. So I want to share a deep and sincere Thank You to all my Flickr friends and contacts for the light you give and all the ways in which you uplift my spirit. Thank you for sharing your talents and creativity which both awe and inspire me, for sharing your beautiful places, special moments, and great adventures, for your thoughtful and generous support of my photography and writing, and most of all for your personal kindness, caring, and humanity. A little blast from the past from the time we visited Chester and took a quiet wander along the river. Such a lovely mix of old stone, soft water, and those gentle English greens.

This bridge has a real sense of history about it, the kind that makes you slow down and imagine all the footsteps and stories that have crossed it over the centuries. Chester itself was a striking place to explore, with a wonderfully deep past - founded almost 2,000 years ago as a Roman fortress. You can still see traces of those walls wrapped around the old town. Over time it grew into a medieval trading centre, complete with those famous black-and-white Tudor buildings and some of the best-preserved city walls in England.

The wildflowers along the riverbank added a splash of colour to one of those pleasant, peaceful moments that travel gives you sometimes when you’re not really expecting it.

Although autumn has now well and truly given way to winter here in Melbourne, there is still a great deal of colour around if you remember to take your time, stop and smell the roses, like this blazing golden yellow and orange beauty which I saw on poking its head out from behind a for sale sign in the front garden of an Art Deco villa on a walk in early June. I fear that the house for sale is likely to be demolished and replaced with more land intense town houses, in which case this rose, which I suspect to be a Royal Circus Rose, will probably be torn out. I sincerely hope not.

Although the day I took this photo was the 2nd day of winter, it was a lovely and sunny day with bright blue skies: although there was a definite crispness in the air if you were out of the sun.

Circus roses were first bred in 1956 in the United States by Herbert Swim. They were introduced later that year to the American market by Armstrong Nursery. Herbert Swim was a famous rose breeder who bred roses for blooms that would hold up to the hot summer sun. He is credited with raising a number of varieties of roses over his career. The rose "Royal Circus" (also known simply as "Circus") was created by crossing the Floribunda rose "Pinocchio" with the hybrid tea "Fandango" rose. The result is this gorgeous yellow rose that produces vibrant reddish edges.

This is an architectural pearl and a truly magical place that offers good swimming opportunities with protection against the wind.

Somewhat hidden, in a less spectacular side valley of the Moselle, and on an even less spectacular, almost boring hiking trail, you reach Eltz Castle, which is enthroned on a 70-metre-high rock. Its imposing appearance is due on the one hand to this, and on the other hand to its eight residential towers, up to 35 metres high, which make it stand out clearly from its surroundings. This truly impressive overall picture gives the feeling that one has arrived in the Middle Ages through teleportation.

For a truly out-of-this-world travel destination, it’s hard to match the Salar de Uyuni. One of the flattest places in the world, the 4,000-square-mile salt flats were formed by a prehistoric lake. Visitors travel in 4×4 vehicles across the expanse of the salt flats to visit locally fashioned structures made entirely from bricks of salt. The salt flats are at their most spectacular after a rain, when water sitting atop the cemented salt acts like a mirror, perfectly reflecting the sky above.
