Cette rue n'est pas très passante, et alors que moi-même, je prends le chemin du retour, j'avise un personnage à sac dorsal qui longe cette sorte d'étendue végétale infinie, avec un beau pantalon rouge...

Because Red Grouse spend most of their time among heather you don't often get chance to see their legs and feet. Feathered feet is unusual enough among birds but to have them a completely different colour to the rest of the bird looks like it has put on the wrong trousers. The scientific name of Red Grouse is Lagopus lagopus scoticus, and Lagopus translates as hare-footed, because its feet resemble those of a Mountain Hare, in colour and fluffiness at least. I've pasted a Mountain Hare in winter pelage below in the comments. Birds lose more heat through unfeathered parts, so Red Grouse and Ptarmigan which live year round in cold, mountainous areas, both have feathered legs and toes to reduce heath loss.

Taken at Warbarrow Bay in Dorset. A beautiful bay that is only accessible when the Ministry of Defence are not firing! Thankfully we were able to visit this bay and Tyneham Village on the weekend. After very heavy rain in the morning the sky brightened up. Some unusal cloud formations. I saw the little island and thought I would climb up the hill to get a shot with the island and bay in full view. After puffing and panting up the hill which was quite steep I decided that as it was so muddy it was not the most sensible thing to do so decided to turn back. All was well until nearly at the bottom of the hill there was a very very muudy patch and yes I slipped on my backside and slid. Thankfully nothing broken but my pride and had to walk about a mile back to the car park with an interesting shade of brown on the back of my trousers - yes it was mud!!! I even had to sit on a car mat to get back to our accommodation not to make a mess in the car! The joys of landscape photography!!!
