The february rainfalls made the waters of the Rotmain swell and gave a dramatic scenery for the heron's flight.

Aquel año tuvimos un mes de abril con agua; recuerdo pasar largos ratos en la orilla, embelesado con la torrentera, con los brillos y los nuevos colores que estrena el río en primavera.

I don't have much to say about this photo. I think the title is pretty ... descriptive!! I took this photo on my last day of the San Francisco/Hawaii trip. I was feeling a bit uninspired, i guess because it was the end of a fantastic trip. I stopped at Foster City to spend a couple of hours before catching the flight home and while taking a walk by the canals i snapped the Ultra Wide Angle lens and tried a very ... banal shot. Hope you like it!

I thought the following song was very ... suitable for this photo (i think Red Hot Chili Peppers are from California too).

a bridge over troubled water, I don't know but the colours are beautiful. Oct 28, 2021

Happy Slider Sunday!

I kept seeing HSS and had no idea what it was until I investigated the group. What a great idea, giving carte blanche on processing for a day. I was walking down a trail that I had no idea where it led and stumbled across this bridge in the middle of the woods, love at first sight and even as I stood there I knew that I wanted to go over the top with the processing because it was such a fantastic scene. All I needed was a dragon to fly by. :-) There will be at least one more shot of this with less mystical properties, but for now engross yourself in my little world. It's a wonderful place to be. :-)

blow it up large and climb inside. :-)

ps, I am fairly certain of the map location, although Yacolt creek isn't on the map, the trail head is directly across the street from the parking lot for Moulton Falls Park.

At Dougashima, Nishi-Izu, Shizuoka, Japan. The islands seen at the center are Sanshiro-jima Island, the photo of which I posted before.

It was very windy and waves were wild on that day.

Queshuachaca Bridge, possibly from Quechua or q'iswa - a rope of twisted dried maguey or ichhu. (Chaka bridge, "rope bridge", also spelled Keshwa Chaca, Q'iswa Chaca, Keswachaka, Q'eshwachaka, Qeswachaka, Q'eswachaca, Q'eswachaka, Queshuachaca, Queswachaka).

Consisting of ropes made of grass and spanning the Apurimac River near Huinchiri, in Quehue District, Canas Province, Peru, is the last remaining Inca rope bridge.

Even though there is a modern bridge nearby, the residents of the region keep the ancient tradition and skills alive by renewing the bridge annually, in June. Several family groups have each prepared a number of grass-ropes to be formed into cables at the site, others prepare mats for decking, and the reconstruction is a communal effort. In ancient times the effort would have been a form of tax, with participants coerced to perform the rebuilding; nowadays the builders have indicated that effort is performed to honor their ancestors and the Pachamama (Earth Mother).

Desculpem a falta de visitas, ..., mas prometo em breve pôr tudo em dia.

For those of you who can remember, lyrics from the classic Simon and Garfunkel song, 'A Bridge Over Troubled Water'.

The waves from the left and right of the photo meet in front of the islands, making the water between the islands and the beach troubled. Interesting spot to see.

This place is unique in that waves meet waves from two directions. That's why the water is somehow troubled there though the distance between these small islands and the beach is not far, and looks silky in this long exposure shot.

This is another of my telephoto-created closeups of a section of a small river in turbulent flood. The Swiss stretch of the River Wiese was in flood in February 2021. For information on the Wiese and its flooding, see the image I posted back then:

NB - (Bridge Over) Troubled Waters: As a solo singer, Art Garfunkel (of Simon & Garfunkel) is often overlooked these days, even by serious fans of the old folk-rock duo. Below is a link to what is IMO Garfunkel's best (probably anyone's best) live solo performance of Simon's “Bridge Over Troubled Waters.” On a long-ago warm September night in NYC's Central Park, Art just stood there, hands in the pockets of his jeans, and sang like an angel.

MM Lockdown Song: Bridge Over Troubled Water

Simon and Garfunkel

"When you're weary

Feeling small

When tears are in your eyes

I'll dry them all

I'm on your side

Oh, when times get rough

And friends just can't be found

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down"

My family received some devastating news this afternoon. If you could spare a positive thought or prayer for us, it would be very appreciated.

Taken on Feb 16 in Numazu, Shizuoka prefecture. Fuji became red this morning. But I saw the shadow of a cloud casting upon the top of Fuji. Still I waited for big waves to break on the rocks. After experiencing heavy snow in Yokohama, it felt like spring in Izu. I enjoyed my trip to West Izu a great deal and probably am gonna visit there again in March. Warm Spring breezes and clear skies bely the troubled waters around this nuclear power plant. A Deep Geological Repository to store nuclear waste is in the works and there is plenty of concern about it's proximity to the Great Lakes. What happens if there's a leak?

I just crossed that bridge

There are many distractions in this world.

Many.

I am someone who is very easily distracted, an impatient soul. You can be talking to me about something important, life or death even, and my mind will wander elsewhere.

Since I started taking pictures, I have discovered that there is one thing that I cannot be distracted from.

Cannot.

When I see a gull over the ocean, over a troubled sea, I am mesmerised. I will stare in jealousy and wonder until they disappear from sight and when they're gone, I'll stare at the space they occupied in the heavens, wishing I could do the same thing, if only for a few seconds.

I watched this one for a good 2 minutes, being flung across the skies by a brutal wind but never losing its composure or control.

There's a lesson in there somewhere, I can't quite put it into words

Distraction free for a whole 120 seconds.

It felt good.
