The poverty on the west coast of Oahu was extreme with "tent cities" covering the beaches. It was in direct contrast to the rest of the island.
The landscape was even impovershed and barren due to it being the leeward - or dry side. It really gave me the creeps...

If you see this through the jungle you are in big trouble, but if you see this from your sunbed on the beach you are ready for some romantic moments.
